Big rig rollover crash causes deadly pileup along I-10 where TxDOT recently increased speed limit
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – One person is dead, and two people were critically hurt after a rollover crash shut down a portion of I-10 in Chambers County on Thursday morning, according to officials. DPS has identified the victim as a 75-year-old man from Louisiana. At least seven others had what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries. In total, 10 vehicles were involved. DPS said the crash occurred around 8 a.m. on Thursday, when multiple vehicles slowed or stopped due to an existing crash.

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 65-year-old Ventura man was hit by another driver while trying to change his tire on the shoulder of northbound Highway 101 Thursday morning. On March 19, around 6:07 a.m., dispatchers began receiving calls about a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on northbound Highway 101, just north of Seacliff stated a press release from the California Highway Patrol-Ventura Area (CHP). According to the CHP, it was determined that a 65-year-old Ventura man had pulled over to the right shoulder towards the end of the Seacliff on-ramp, before exiting his vehicle and starting to change his tire.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida deputy made a narrow escape on Tuesday when a passing open car hauler hit the side of his patrol car during a traffic stop, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Body camera footage shows the deputy conducting a traffic stop on I-4. He began walking to his patrol car when a truck hit the driver’s side of the car. A deputy talked to the driver of the truck, who struggled to understand him due to a language barrier.

RICHLAND, N.Y. — The New York State Police is investigating a crash involving around 40 vehicles in the Town of Richland, Oswego County, N.Y., on Tuesday afternoon. The state police said the crash occurred on I-81 southbound between Exit 126 toward Pulaski, N.Y. and Exit 131 toward Tinker Tavern. Multiple tractor-trailers are involved. The police said drivers should expect “significant delays.” I-81 southbound between the Pulaski exit is closed so that emergency vehicles can respond to the scene.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A grandfather died and his grandson was seriously injured after both were pinned under an ambulance on Sunday, according to authorities and the victims’ family. At around 10 p.m. on Atlanta Highway in Oconee County, John Carter Martin stopped on the side of the road to help his grandson, 17-year-old Connor Lee Schoon, whose car had broken down. But a Northeast Georgia Medical Center ambulance hit the stranded car, trapping both of them under the rescue vehicle, state troopers said.

WHITESIDE COUNTY, Ill. — An Illinois State Police trooper was injured after their car was struck by another vehicle. According to an ISP press release, a member of ISP Troop 1 was hit on I-88 westbound near milepost 23.5 in Whiteside County on Monday, March 16. The trooper said they pulled over with their emergency lights on to assist a driver who had slid off the roadway. While stopped, officials said a sedan lost control and hit the trooper’s car in the rear while they were still inside.

A tragic sequence of events led to the death of a 73-year-old Webster man on the section of State Road 48 known as West Belt Street, in Bushnell. The Webster man was driving a Silverado and had tethered a Toyota RAV4 to the back of his truck with a tow-strap. The RAV4, which had a driver and passenger inside, separated and rolled into traffic while the Silverado was heading eastbound on the Sumter County road.

According to police, the victims were in a vehicle that struck the truck in the area of Temple and Cass in Midtown just after 1:30 a.m. One person survived the crash. They are currently listed in critical condition. Police have not provided further details about the crash or the victims.

HOUSTON - A man was hospitalized after he was hit while trying to retrieve his jet ski off the highway in northeast Harris County near Sheldon. Harris County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Berry reports a call came in around 8 p.m. about a major accident on Beaumont Highway near the San Jacinto River. According to officials, witnesses say a man in a Toyota 4Runner was going westbound on the highway while hauling a jet ski on the back, when the jet ski fell off the trailer.

KELLOGG, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State Patrol says nobody was hurt when a semi-truck crashed into one of its vehicles late Sunday night. According to a post on Facebook, an Iowa State Patrol sergeant was working an incident involving multiple semi-trucks that had crashed on I-80 near Kellogg. While the sergeant was walking back to his patrol vehicle, another semi-truck lost control and crashed into the trooper’s Tahoe. Photos shared by Iowa State Patrol on social media show damage to the rear of the vehicle.
