Pedestrian dead, bystander hurt after hit-and-run followed by second crash near Ruby and Teutonia
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A 24-year-old pedestrian died and a bystander who stopped to help was injured after two separate cars hit them near Ruby and Teutonia Monday night, Sept. 7, according to Milwaukee police. Police say a car traveling south hit the pedestrian around 11:15 p.m. and fled the scene. A witness stopped to help the victim, and while doing so, a second car, also traveling south, hit both the witness and the pedestrian.

GARY, Ind — A truck driver was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a crash involving two semi-tractor-trailers in northwest Indiana. According to Indiana State Police, it happened around 3:30 a.m. Sept. 8 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80/94 at the exit ramp to Burr Street. A preliminary investigation indicates a truck loaded with Amazon packages was parked on a berm between the ramp and highway lanes and the driver was reported to be standing outside the truck and urinating, a spokesperson said.

VIRGINIA - Two drivers are facing reckless driving charges following an investigation into a Sunday afternoon crash that killed three people on the Interstate 66 Express Lanes in Fairfax County. What we know: The multi-vehicle crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, in the westbound I-66 Express Lanes near mile marker 64. According to Virginia State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota 4Runner and a commercial motor vehicle transporting oxygen tanks had stopped in the right travel lane.

A 70-year-old driver died after trying to evade a disabled vehicle and hitting a center divide on southbound Interstate 15 in Rancho Bernardo early Monday, a California Highway Patrol officer said. Just before 8 a.m., a Honda sedan collided with a large object on the I-15, north of West Bernardo Drive and blocking a right lane, CHP Officer Issam Wahhab said. The driver of a Toyota swerved to the right, lost control, then veered to the left and struck the center divide, he said.

MEIGS TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two people, including a teen, were seriously injured early Monday in a crash in Adams County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. OSHP said that troopers were called to State Route 32 near Lawshe Road in Meigs Township around 3:30 a.m. for a crash involving two vehicles. Troopers found that a juvenile male was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on State Route 32 when he drove off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected the SUV and crossed the grass median on the state route.

A man was killed Thursday evening after being struck by an SUV while changing a tire on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 75 in Pembroke Pines, just south of Pines Boulevard. The man was thrown into the outside lane and died at the scene, according to investigators. The Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash at about 5:05 p.m., according to WPLG Local 10. Investigators say a 2026 Honda CR-V was traveling northbound in the outside merge lane when its 69-year-old driver attempted to move into the outside lane but was unable to complete the lane change safely.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — New York State Police say one person is dead after a semi hit a pickup truck on the Thruway Friday morning. According to Troopers, a 2018 Volvo tractor-trailer was driving westbound on the 90 in the town of Newstead, when it crashed into a disabled 2012 Chevy pickup truck that was on the shoulder. The driver of the pickup, Olive Wesley, 61 of Rochester, died at the scene.

A man was killed and a 2-year-old child was inside his vehicle when it was struck on Interstate 75 in Miramar during Thursday evening’s rush hour, authorities said. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75, just north of Miramar Parkway. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver was outside his vehicle changing a tire on the right shoulder when he was struck by another vehicle.

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — Two police SUVs were left disabled after a driver hit them from behind early Thursday, the Washington Township Police Department said. At around 1:40 a.m., officers stopped a driver along Route 42 between Exits 7 and 7B. While pulled over, they learned that one person in the car had outstanding warrants and took them into custody. One of the officers then went back into his vehicle to finish paperwork while the other stayed outside.

The deadly collision happened around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, along the highway’s outer loop near West Boulevard. Troopers said a box truck ran off the road and hit a concrete utility access. The driver got out and was standing in the roadway when a passing Toyota reportedly hit and killed them.
