Trooper Injured After Patrol Car Struck on Thruway
A New York State trooper was injured early Saturday morning after a passing vehicle slid into a parked patrol car on the Thruway while officers were helping a disabled driver. State Police say the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday on the westbound shoulder in Lancaster, Erie County. Two troopers were outside their marked patrol vehicle assisting a motorist when a Kia sedan lost control, spun out, and hit the rear of the patrol car, which had its emergency lights on.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — A traffic collision on Highway 70 at the Highway 149 split left two people injured Monday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 12:36 p.m. According to CHP, a vehicle ended up disabled in the center median with a female driver trapped inside. A second vehicle involved sustained significant rear-end damage and was located on the right shoulder. The crash occurred during Caltrans roadway work, which had caused lane closures and slowed traffic.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A Palm Coast woman was killed after crashing into a disabled car, which was blocking the left lane on I-95 in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. State troopers said it happened just after midnight Monday morning on the northbound side of I-95 near Old Dixie Highway. They say a 23-year-old woman driving a sports utility vehicle drove off I-95 and hit a guardrail. The car then came to a stop and was disabled in the inside left lane, facing the wrong direction on I-95 (south).

Two people are dead after their semitrailer exploded when it hit another semi parked illegally on the side of Interstate 80 near Green River on Sunday. The crash scene “was a pretty bad one,” said Green River Fire Department Assistant Chief Larry Erdmann. “It was almost like a movie scene.” Usually with a highway crash involving fire, there’s debris scattered about, “Then if the vehicle catches fire, it’s down the road a little,” he told Cowboy State Daily on Monday morning.

An Illinois State Police squad car was struck and damaged on Route 53 in Chicago’s northwest suburbs. State police said at 3:46 a.m. Sunday, an ISP trooper was pulled over in a squad car on the right shoulder of Illinois 53 northbound at Algonquin Road, on the cusp of Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg. The trooper was assisting a stranded driver, and the squad car emergency lights were on, state police said.

ELK GROVE, CA, (February 03, 2026) - A 61-year-old man repairing a flat tire Tuesday night on Bruceville Road in Elk Grove was fatally struck by a driver who took off but was later arrested, according to police. The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. between Bilby Road and Boa Nova Drive. Based on initial reports, the victim, who was not publicly identified, was tending to a flat tire on the west shoulder of Bruceville Road when he was hit by a Dodge pickup truck.

Early on the morning of February 3, 2026, California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire, Riverside County and Riverside Fire Department responded to a call of a crash involving a silver Honda Civic vs. a semi truck on Meridian Parkway just south of Innovation Drive in Riverside. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda Civic had rear ended a semi that was stopped on the side of the road. The driver of the Honda, a 18 year old male sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased by fire personnel.

A 23-year-old was killed, and a second person was hospitalized with critical injuries after they were struck by a car while walking away from their broken down vehicle on Route 18 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on Friday night. The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced that Ruby Quiro Santos, of New Bedford, died from her injuries following the crash that occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Route 18 northbound, north of the Hillman Street onramp.
