8 hospitalized after fiery crash on Georgia interstate
PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. — Eight people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on a Georgia interstate that left an SUV engulfed in flames. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash happened around 6:44 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95. Troopers said a Toyota Tacoma had broken down on the median shoulder because of an electrical malfunction. The driver believed the problem had been fixed and tried to re-enter the highway.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A motor coach driver died after striking a broken-down tractor-trailer on Interstate 20 early Friday, shutting down part of the interstate for hours, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said. Master Trooper William Bennett said the crash happened about 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near mile marker 70, which is near the Fairfield Road exit in Richland County. Bennett said a 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer had broken down in the road, and no one was inside when a 2007 Prevost motor coach struck its trailer.

TONOPAH, AZ (AZFamily) — A woman is dead after investigators say a tractor-trailer slammed into her stopped car on Interstate 10 west of the Valley late Wednesday night. First responders were called just before 11 p.m. to reports of a serious crash on eastbound I-10 near 355th Avenue in Tonopah, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. During the investigation, troopers learned that a car had been stopped in the outside lane for an unknown reason when a tractor-trailer hit it from behind.

Three vehicles were reportedly sitting in the left lane after the first collision. A tow truck had arrived, and its operator was working near the stopped vehicles when a gold Cadillac SUV approached at high speed and struck the crash scene.

NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo. (Heartland News) - A semi-truck driver was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 55 in New Madrid County. The crash happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, at the 48.4-mile marker. This is near the U.S. Highway 62 exit. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 79-year-old Cedar Park, Texas, man was traveling north when his semi went off the right side of I-55, hit a car parked on the shoulder and continued off the road.

A motorist who stopped to help out another driver with a disabled vehicle was struck and killed on the Lodge freeway, according to state police. The incident happened about 11:40 p.m. Saturday Oct. 3 when two vehicles crashed on southbound M-10 near Nine Mile Road, Michigan State Police said in a news release. Police said the initial crash left one of the vehicles disabled and blocking the left two lanes of the freeway.

FHP said the man was driving southbound in the center lane of I-295 at Wilson Boulevard when he swerved to the left to avoid a disabled vehicle, rear-ending a semi-truck. Troopers said the semi-truck was stopped on the inside shoulder of the interstate, while the driver was assisting the disabled vehicle.

Ka’Sheena Daniels, 31, died Sept. 25 on westbound I-10 near Elysian Fields Avenue after helping free a driver she recognized as her neighbor, said Franchon Williams, a friend who was with her. New Orleans police said the crash began when a speeding car made a sudden lane change and flipped, prompting several drivers to stop and help the trapped driver.
