Coroner identifies 2 killed in Evansville I-69 crash
EVANSVILLE — The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office has identified the two men killed in a wreck on Interstate 69 as 32-year-old Dakota Campbell and 74-year-old Robert York. Campbell and York were pronounced dead at the scene Friday evening after a motorcycle wreck on northbound I-69 near the South Green River Road exit set off a chain of events that killed both men, according to a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Two commercial truck drivers were injured early Friday morning, July 3, 2026, after a crash involving two 18-wheelers on Interstate 10 South near Walden Road in Beaumont, Texas. According to Beaumont police, officers responded shortly after midnight to the southbound lanes of I-10 for a major traffic crash that closed the highway for several hours. Police said the preliminary investigation showed that one 18-wheeler had pulled onto the shoulder after the driver stopped to inspect possible damage believed to have been caused by another vehicle that may have sideswiped the truck.

Three people were killed late Friday after a passenger vehicle hit a semi-truck that had stopped in flood traffic on eastbound I-94 near Michigan Avenue, according to Michigan State Police. Troopers responded around 11:44 p.m. on July 3. MSP said the semi-truck was stopped because of flooding on the freeway when the passenger vehicle struck it from behind. Three occupants of the passenger vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. MSP said all three victims had been identified.

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Pontiac couple and their two young children were killed Wednesday night when their disabled car was crashed into on the shoulder of southbound I-75 near Grange Hall Road, according to Michigan State Police. Relatives on Thursday (July 2) identified the victims as parents Tieree Powell and Zakiera, and their children, 4-year-old Malani Powell and 2-year-old Carter Powell. “This is very devastating for my family as we just lost our mother recently,” Tieree’s brother, Devrionta Powell, said in a statement.

Michael Pahira Jr. was struck while conducting a commercial vehicle safety inspection around 7 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Cass Township. According to state police, a passing commercial vehicle hit Pahira while he was conducting the inspection with his emergency lights activated. That vehicle then collided with the vehicle that was being inspected and caught fire.
