Man Struck and Killed While Standing Beside Vehicle on Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade
A man was killed early Wednesday morning after he was struck by a car while standing outside a vehicle stopped on the emergency shoulder of Florida’s Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade County. The September 16, 2026 crash happened in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike near Southwest 216th Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP reported that a Honda Civic was traveling south when it struck the man, who was standing outside his vehicle on the right emergency shoulder.

NILES, Mich. (WSBT) — A sad confirmation about the two South Bend women who vanished on Sunday. Their vehicle was found and recovered on Tuesday in the St. Joseph River in Niles. Investigators confirmed that the two women inside the submerged Jeep were 24-year-old Vanessa Bautista and 23-year-old Alexa Navarro. Niles Police believe the car went over the embankment in the area of Laurel and South Lincoln Avenue and ended in the river.

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WLOX) — On Wednesday morning, a multivehicle crash on Highway 603 left two police officers with minor injuries. The Bay St. Louis Police Department said Wednesday on Facebook that the officers were assisting the driver of a disabled semitruck when their units were hit by a vehicle traveling on the highway. The department said the officers received only minor injuries and that everyone involved is okay.

The crash happened Wednesday, sometime before 7:34 a.m. Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found county medical personnel treating a 74-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man for their injuries. The woman died at the scene. The man also died after being taken to Christus St.

Troopers say a tractor-trailer going southbound failed to stop, swerved and hit a Hyundai Tucson before striking the back of the school bus.

The crash involved a freightliner box truck and a Ford traffic control truck, according to GSP. Police found that the box truck failed to maintain its lane. The box truck crossed onto the right shoulder and hit the Ford, which was pushed across three lanes, over a guard rail and into the grass median.

Everest Drive for the report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers determined the accident involved an 18-wheeler hauling equipment, which had stopped to unload. While the tractor-trailer was stopped, a 2017 Ford Explorer struck the rear of the detached trailer.

According to Kansas Highway Patrol, a crash occurred in the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 just before 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. The crash caused a Honda Civic to go onto the grass median on Highway 75 and stop on the shoulder of the northbound lanes.
