1 fatally struck on I-290 after multi-vehicle crash in west suburbs, all lanes reopened, ISP says
COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) – A person was struck and killed after a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway Wednesday night, Illinois State Police said. The person was struck and killed on I-290 just after 7 p.m. after a multi-vehicle crash near 25th Avenue in Broadview, Illinois State Police said. All lanes were closed before reopening Thursday morning. “After several vehicles crashed while in the eastbound lanes of traffic, a pedestrian from one of the vehicle crossed over the center median and was fatally struck while in the westbound lanes,” a new release from ISP read in part.

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — Snow brought by a winter storm Wednesday is causing traffic issues on some major roadways across the Triad on Wednesday. One particularly treacherous area has been near the I-40 and I-85 split, where an NC State Highway Patrol trooper told WFMY News 2 that there have been “a lot of collisions,” with one being deemed serious. CBS 17 in Raleigh reported Wednesday that approximately 50 vehicles were involved in one pileup at the I-40/I-85 split that left one person dead and multiple other suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

MISSOULA — Authorities have released the names of two of the three people who died after a crash on Interstate 90 in the Frenchtown area on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Missoula County Sheriff/Coroner Jeremiah Petersen says 41-year-old Richard E. Graham II of Missoula, 46-year-old Jeffery A. Clausen of Great Falls, and a five-year-old boy from Missoula died. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, Vehicle #1 was a semi truck towing double trailers was eastbound on I-90.

Montour County, Pa. — A Lewisburg woman has died following a crash in Valley Township last week. Around 10 a.m. on Feb. 14, Cortney N. Hurry, 21, was driving on I-80 west when her vehicle struck the back of a stopped car, Trooper Casey Knott reported. Hurry was killed in the crash. The car was stopped near mile marker 225 due to a detour resulting from a crash further down the interstate that day.

Butler County, AL — January 21, 2025, Thaddeus Richardson was killed and a child was injured in a truck accident just before noon on Interstate 65. Authorities said a 2014 Ford Mustang was stopped near mile marker 122 after being involved in an earlier accident when it was hit by a pickup that had been rear-ended by a semi-truck. The semi also hit another semi-truck and was rear-ended by an SUV.

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A car overturned on Highway 99 Wednesday morning due to being hit from behind by a pickup truck that officials say was going at an unsafe speed. According to California Highway Patrol, just after 6 a.m. on southbound Highway 99, north of Belmont Avenue, a vehicle was stopped in the center median due to a flat tire, causing traffic to back up. Traffic was seen on Caltrans cameras at the time of the crash to be backed up to southbound Highway 99 near Clinton Avenue.

Herkimer, N.Y — A section of the state Thruway was closed most of the afternoon Monday after an 18-vehicle pile-up near Herkimer. The accident was reported around 11:23 a.m. A tractor trailer was disabled along the westbound lanes when another tractor trailer hit it and caused several cars to crash, said Sgt. Jack Keller, a spokesperson for the State Police. The crash is still being investigated but currently involves 15 cars and three tractor trailers, Keller said.

Authorities said a 2007 Chevrolet sedan crashed into the back of a semi-truck hauling a flatbed trailer that was stopped near mile marker 225 because of an earlier accident. Chevrolet driver Courtney Hurry, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of injuries sustained in the crash near Danville, according to authorities.

The incident took place near Fort Carson at about 6:25 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate, where a Dodge pickup truck was parked on the shoulder with its hazard lights on, officials said. The driver was outside, standing in front of his vehicle, when a southbound truck — with a trailer attached — lost control and hit the Dodge pickup, pushing it into its owner.

A man who pulled over on the side of U.S. 36 and got out of his car Sunday morning died after being hit by two other cars, according to Colorado State Patrol officials. State patrol troopers responded to the crash on U.S. 36, near where it intersects with southbound Interstate 25, around 7:50 a.m. Sunday, officials said in a news release. The two highways intersect in Twin Lakes, east of Westminster and north of Denver.
