3 Killed in I-94 Semi Crash Near Dearborn
Three people were killed late Friday after a passenger vehicle hit a semi-truck that had stopped in flood traffic on eastbound I-94 near Michigan Avenue, according to Michigan State Police. Troopers responded around 11:44 p.m. on July 3. MSP said the semi-truck was stopped because of flooding on the freeway when the passenger vehicle struck it from behind. Three occupants of the passenger vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. MSP said all three victims had been identified.

Investigators said the driver of the Infiniti had exited the vehicle and was standing near the rear of the car when a silver Ford Five Hundred entered the emergency shoulder and struck the Infiniti.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a man Tuesday night on Interstate 73 in Montgomery County. Troopers said the crash happened around 11:43 p.m. on I-73 South near mile marker 51. Investigators said the victim had gotten out of a disabled white Ford Focus parked along the right shoulder and was walking in the southbound lanes when he was hit by a vehicle.

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Pontiac couple and their two young children were killed Wednesday night when their disabled car was crashed into on the shoulder of southbound I-75 near Grange Hall Road, according to Michigan State Police. Relatives on Thursday (July 2) identified the victims as parents Tieree Powell and Zakiera, and their children, 4-year-old Malani Powell and 2-year-old Carter Powell. “This is very devastating for my family as we just lost our mother recently,” Tieree’s brother, Devrionta Powell, said in a statement.

CASS TWP., Pa. (WPVI) – A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Wednesday morning in Schuylkill County. Tpr. Michael Pahira Jr. was struck while conducting a commercial vehicle safety inspection around 7 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Cass Township. According to state police, a passing commercial vehicle hit Pahira while he was conducting the inspection with his emergency lights activated. That vehicle then collided with the vehicle that was being inspected and caught fire.

According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, it happened at 11 p.m. Sunday on northbound I-270 at Missouri Route 370. Troopers said the 40-year-old man had exited a disabled vehicle that had been involved in an earlier crash when he was struck by a silver Volvo.

A Raleigh man is facing multiple charges after authorities said he lost control of his car on Interstate 87 and struck two people who were outside their vehicles, killing one of them. Wimandre Hendrick, 33, of Raleigh, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro when he lost control of the car, ran off the road and onto the shoulder.

PUNTA GORDA — A man was killed when his SUV hit a tractor trailer on Interstate 75 near Punta Gorda on Saturday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The crash happened at 3 p.m. at the Jones Loop Road exit, the report states. An unidentified man was driving north in a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and approaching the exit ramp, the FHP report states. The SUV struck a 2023 International semi-tractor trailer that was disabled and pulled off onto the painted “gore area” off the main roadway, according to the report.
