Driver dies after being hit while standing by broken-down truck along Brigham City I-15 exit
BRIGHAM CITY — A driver died after being struck by a vehicle while standing outside his vehicle that had broken down near an I-15 exit Wednesday night. Emergency crews responded to a report of a crash along the 1100 South (U.S. 91) exit in Brigham City shortly after 7:30 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cam Roden. He said that a male driving a Dodge pickup truck had parked in a spot that partially blocked the right side of the exit lane after some sort of issue with his vehicle.

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah, Jan. 8, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol says a man standing outside his disabled vehicle near I-15 in Brigham City was fatally injured Wednesday night after being struck by a passing car. UHP Lt. Cameron Roden told Gephardt Daily, the deadly incident happened about 8 p.m. “near the merge” onto I-15 from 1100 South. According to Roden, the lights on the motorist’s vehicle may not have been on when he was hit.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – All southbound lanes of IH-69 Southwest Freeway at Kirby Drive were closed due to a deadly crash that reportedly involved a driver who jumped off the freeway on Wednesday morning. According to Houston TranStar, the crash was first reported at about 2:30 a.m. The freeway reopened three hours later at 5:40 a.m. Houston police are calling it a chain-reaction crash that started with a single vehicle.

Canajoharie, N.Y. — A pedestrian was killed by a passing car Friday morning on the New York State Thruway. David Bonaparte, of Rome, was driving west on Interstate 90 around 11:50 a.m. Friday when he pulled over and onto the northern shoulder of the highway in Canajoharie, the New York State Police said in a news release. Canajoharie is a small village in the Capital Region between Utica and Albany.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) shared dash cam video of a semi truck sideswiping a disabled truck along the shoulder of the interstate as a reminder of what happens when you fail to pay attention to the road. The video was captured around 2:15 p.m. on January 6 on I-40 near Country Club Road in El Reno. OHP Trooper Kelby Peoples was driving right behind as a semi collided with a second truck disabled on the shoulder of I-40.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A man died after being hit by a car near the Spokane Valley on North Tschirley Road north of East Dalton Avenue on Sunday evening. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) says sheriff’s office deputies responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. along with officers from the Spokane Valley Police Department and crews from the Spokane Valley Fire Department. SCSO says initial information indicates that the car was traveling north on Tschirley Road and was avoiding a separate car that was stopped on the east side of the roadway and protruding into the northbound lane.

A female driver was ejected from a vehicle after crashing into a median along Interstate 78, which then led to a tractor-trailer driver also striking the car, state police said. Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Nathan Branosky, public information officer for the Troop M barracks, told lehighvalleylive.com the accident began just before 12:15 a.m. Sunday at mile marker 54.1 in Lower Macungie Township. It happened when the woman was headed south along Route 309 and attempted to merge onto I-78 east, Branosky said.

MIRAMAR, CA (January 6, 2025) — A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-car accident on the 15 Freeway near Miramar Way. According to reports, the deadly crash happened around 3:32 a.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, a car rear-ended another vehicle on the northbound freeway just south of Miramar Way. The impact sent one car onto the shoulder and left a black car with its lights off and disabled in one of the traffic lanes.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A woman died after being involved in a crash Sunday on the West Virginia Turnpike and then struck by a tractor-trailer, West Virginia State Police said Monday. Alexis Vega, 25, of Cleveland, Ohio, is identified as the victim. The incident happened near mile-marker 87 of I-77/I-64 between the Marmet and Chelyan exits. Troopers say the crash happened in the southbound lanes. They say Vega’s vehicle struck the concrete median barrier and came to rest sideways in both lanes of travel.
