Pedestrian’s death on I-435 near Grandview Road highlights safety concerns in construction zones
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A pedestrian fatally struck after walking away from his vehicle on the I-435 eastbound left hand shoulder early Thursday morning is bringing new attention to a recurring problem. A Scout camera captured the scene near the Grandview Road overpass at about 1 a.m. Thursday morning. According to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, when the owner of a red Chevy Malibu parked on the shoulder walked into the nearby lane, the driver of a FedEx semi-truck hit him.

Just before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Southwest and South Jones volunteer fire departments responded to a tow vehicle collision on Highway 11 north of Moselle, between Armissie Road and Benson Cemetery Road. When first responders arrived the firefighters found that two vehicles in the northbound lane had collided, with the maroon truck having been disabled in the road prior to the collision. Both vehicles were damaged in the incident. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

There are no serious injuries from a Monday morning crash involving three semis and an SUV that hit a jackknifed 18-wheeler on I-90 west of Cle Elem. Troopers say the 18-wheeler driven by 35-year-old Karanveer Singh of Renton was eastbound on the Highway when it became jackknifed at a bend in the road. “Speed was a factor as the truck was coming eastbound around a corner, lost control and ended up jackknifing,” said State Patrol Trooper Jeremy Weber.

A good Samaritan who stopped to help the victim of a crash along a highway in Arizona was struck and killed by a vehicle, authorities said Sunday. Two concerned citizens had stopped to render aid just before 4 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of State Route 202 near Phoenix when the deadly crash occurred, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said. “This is an absolute tragedy,” DPS Sgt. Eric Andrews told FOX10 Phoenix at the crash scene.

LOXAHATCHEE GROVES — A man and a woman were killed early Sunday when their SUV traveled off a road northwest of Loxahatchee Groves and plunged into a canal, police said. Palm Beach County sheriff’s officials said Liliana Francisco Vargas, 19, of Loxahatchee was driving a 2020 Toyota Rav4 with passenger Deric Lozano Varela, 21, of West Palm Beach eastbound on 60th Street North at about 2:45 a.m. when for unknown reasons, the Toyota left the road at the intersection with 190th Terrace North.

HAMMOND, La. — A man is dead, and two juveniles were injured in a double crash that closed I-12 for hours during morning rush hour traffic. The initial crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 12 near Pumpkin Center Road in Tangipahoa Parish according to Louisiana State Police. Troopers say Javier Morel of Denham Springs was driving a 2004 Ford Escape eastbound with two juvenile passengers inside. They say that for reasons still under investigation, Morel traveled off the roadway and struck multiple trees.

MARIETTA, GA, (September 23, 2023) - A Monroe woman is dead after being fatally struck by a vehicle early Saturday after she stopped to help a motorist involved in a crash, Marietta police said. The string of events began around 12:42 a.m. when the driver of a Kia Sedona lost control for undetermined reasons, flew across all lanes of traffic, and ultimately slammed into the median on Interstate 75 South, north of the Delk Road exit ramp.

According to DPS, a hit-and-run driver fleeing from a separate crash in an unknown area was involved in a single-vehicle collision. A child from the initial collision which the driver was fleeing from, was hospitalized as a precaution. A secondary collision with the disabled hit-and-run vehicle occurred moments later. 2 good samaritans witnessed the crash, stopped their vehicles, and approached the crash on foot to provide assistance. At that time, a 3rd collision occurred where 1 of the good samaritans was struck.

Sep. 24—A 33-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash Sunday morning just south of Lathrop. Terry Delauder, of Galt, Missouri, was traveling north on Interstate 35 in his 2018 Chevrolet Silverado when he hit a semi-truck that was parked on the side of the road, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Reports. The Silverado caught on fire, burning itself as well as the towed unit of the semi-truck.
