7 injured after driver drops phone, hits parked truck in Dayton neighborhood
Several people were hurt after a pick-up truck hit another vehicle in a local neighborhood early Saturday morning. As previously reported by News Center 7, Dayton police and medics responded to Prescott and Litchfield Avenues at 4:36 a.m. Saturday, on initial reports of a rash. A 24-year-old was driving a 2012 White GMC Sierra at an apparent excessive rate of speed and hit a 2012 Black Ford F-150, according to a crash report.

A young man died early Saturday morning after he exited his disabled vehicle on the 210 Freeway in an attempt to direct traffic following a crash, according to authorities. The incident was first reported at about 3:57 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the 210 near Sunflower Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. A 21-year-old man was driving a gray Toyota Tacoma when he collided with a big rig. No one was injured in that initial crash.

OLDMANS TWP., N.J. (WPVI) – A family is left reeling after a fatal crash on a Salem County highway. Ruth Melnichuk, 28, of Salem, New Jersey, was struck and killed along I-295 Wednesday evening. New Jersey State Police troopers were called to the scene around 7:00 p.m. Authorities say Melnichuk was involved in an accident with another vehicle, and both cars had pulled over on the left shoulder of I-295 southbound in Oldmans Township.

Two tractor-trailer drivers escaped serious injury when the rigs collided and erupted into flames Tuesday afternoon on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lehigh County, state police said. The crash happened at 1:40 p.m. on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, near mile marker 51.7 in Emmaus, according to Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Richard Levan, public information officer for Troop T. The accident began when a North Bergen, New Jersey, man operating his rig in the right lane encountered a disabled car on the right shoulder, state police said.

SUN VALLEY, CA, (April 13, 2025) - A pedestrian struck and killed by a semi-truck on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley Sunday morning has been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office as Alan Hartley, age 59. Hartley’s city of residence was not known. According to the California Highway Patrol’s initial report, Hartley was hit by a big rig around 9:25 a.m. on the northbound freeway near the Sunland Boulevard off-ramp.

KEARENY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a car–pedestrian crash on Monday that injured a 20-year-old man on U.S. Highway 30. The crash happened nine miles west of Kearney at 4:30 p.m. According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, a driver had stopped to render aid after another vehicle with a trailer broke down on the side of the highway. An occupant of that vehicle, a 20-year-old Holdrege Man, stopped to help and was struck by a another vehicle driven by a 64-year-old woman from Elm Creek.

Arbutus, MD — April 8, 2025, one person was killed and three others were injured in a truck accident at about 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 95. Authorities said a Jeep Cherokee was headed south near Interstate 695 when it crashed into the back of a dump truck. The Jeep driver apparently got out of his vehicle before being hit by a Subaru as it collided with the dump truck as well.

SAN ANTONIO — An off-duty Bexar County constable was seriously injured after an Amazon crashed into his vehicle from behind on the northeast side of town. It happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning on I-35 South at Crosswinds Way. The 62-year-old off-duty constable was working in a construction zone in an SUV with his emergency lights on when the Amazon 18-wheeler truck driver hit him from behind. He told emergency workers that he could not feel his legs.

Hillsborough County, FL (April 9, 2025) – Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash late Tuesday night on Interstate 75 after a Kentucky man allegedly fled the site of a deadly collision that claimed one life. The tragic incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75 near Bruce B Downs Blvd. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Noah Alexander Riley of Campbellsville, KY, was driving a Ford F-350 while towing a cattle trailer when his vehicle veered onto the shoulder of the highway.

Iredell County, NC — April 8, 2025, Justyn Jenkins was killed in a truck accident at about 3 a.m. on southbound Interstate 77 near Davidson. Authorities said a 2019 Freightliner semi-truck crashed into a 2021 Hyundai Kona that was disabled in the road, without lights, because of an earlier accident. Hyundai driver Justyn Jack Jenkins, 26, died at the scene of the crash, according to authorities. The truck driver, who was not injured, will not face any charges in the crash, authorities said.
