THP: One charged after disabled semi-truck struck by another semi-truck
GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — One person was charged Saturday following a multi-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 81 south in Greene County. TDOT reported at around 3:30 p.m. that the southbound right lane was closed on I-81 after a crash near mile marker 19. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reported that a disabled semi-truck had been pulled over on the right shoulder of the road. While it was stopped there, another semi-truck traveling southbound veered off the road and sideswiped the stationary truck.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia State Police trooper was seriously injured when a patrol vehicle was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 29 in Pittsylvania County Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. as two troopers were assisting a disabled tractor-trailer on the southbound side of the highway. An investigation revealed a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Raul Jesus Salas, collided with the rear patrol vehicle, which then struck one of the troopers and the second patrol vehicle, according to state police.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A 48-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday night while checking on an injured animal in the roadway, High Point police said. Officers with the High Point Police Department, the High Point Fire Department, and Guilford County EMS responded around 9 p.m. to the 2800 block of Westchester Drive. Paramedics transported the victim, Tu Cam Phan, to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, where she was pronounced dead.

Maple Valley, MI. – A woman was killed after a pedestrian accident on Wednesday evening in Maple Valley Township, according to the Michigan State Police. The deadly collision happened at about 10:30 p.m. on September 10, at Coral Road and Gravel Ridge Road. Troopers confirmed a 60-year-old woman was driving from the Coral Road when she stopped in the westbound lane and alighted from her car. She was then struck by a westbound car operated by a 32-year-old Howard City man.

While they were outside their parked patrol units, a semi-truck struck the rear patrol vehicle.

The crash occurred around 5:44 a.m. when a vehicle traveling at a reported speed of over 70 MPH struck another vehicle that was parked on the right-hand shoulder of WB I-94. Emergency responders from Brookfield Fire and Rescue arrived promptly and provided aid to individuals suffering from injuries at the scene.

State police said the moose crossed the eastbound side of Route 101 and was hit by a Mazda 3 but was able to cross the median over to the westbound side.
