Family appeals for information after Olathe man fatally struck by truck on Interstate 435
OLATHE, Kan. — New photos have been released of a white truck Overland Park Police believe fatally struck an Olathe man and then the driver left the crash site. It happened early Monday morning at about 1 after George Abasta, 50, had been in a collision on Interstate 435 near the Metcalf exit. When Abasta tried to cross westbound I-435 on foot, presumably to get help, Overland Park Police detectives say the truck driver struck Abasta.

COPLEY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – A man was taken to the hospital in serious condition after a crash in Copley Township Thursday afternoon. The two-vehicle crash happened on State Route 21, near Minor Road, around 3:23 p.m. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened while a 2002 Ford F250 Super Duty was broken down on the side of the road. The driver was outside of the vehicle when a 2021 Jeep Gladiator heading northbound hit the back left corner of the pickup truck before hitting him.

A driver stopped to fix a flat tire on the side of Interstate 25 in Broomfield on Friday. They and a passenger were then struck by an oncoming vehicle, killing them. Police responded to a crash on northbound I-25 between 144th Avenue and Highway 7 around 10 p.m. Friday, according to a press release by the Broomfield Police Department. Responders found that two vehicles were involved in the incident. The section of I-25 was shutdown until around 5 a.

Polk County, TX — September 5, 2023, Ignacio Flores was injured in a collision with a school bus around 7:30 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 59 in Polk County. According to officials, the victim was traveling east on the highway in a Toyota Camry when he performed an evasive maneuver to avoid a collision with a disabled vehicle. The Camry then purportedly stuck a stationary School Bus. The disabled car had reportedly previously been in an accident with a school bus and the school bus had allegedly pulled into an improved shoulder after the initial crash.

Southbound Interstate-95 lanes in Delray Beach have reopened Tuesday after a deadly crash shut down the roadway for hours. Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 5:50 a.m. A West Palm Beach man was driving a two-door Chevrolet Camaro southbound, on the outside lane, leaving the Linton Boulevard overpass. At the same time, the driver of a Ford pickup truck and a man were on the outside paved shoulder, changing a rear left tire.

DELRAY BEACH — A 44-year-old Palm Springs man died Tuesday morning on southbound Interstate 95 when a vehicle veered onto the highway’s shoulder and struck him while he was changing a flat tire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP did not release the name of the man who died or the driver of the vehicle that struck him, a 53-year-old West Palm Beach man. It was not immediately clear if the 53-year-old man would face any charges in the wreck.

(ABC 6 News) – A teen suffered minor injuries after hitting a deer and being sideswiped by a semi in northern Iowa on Monday night. According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 8:10 p.m. on Interstate 35, just north of mile marker 184. Gracie Stoks, 19 of Lino Lakes, Minn., was heading south on I-35 when she struck a deer that walked into the road, totaling her vehicle.

FRESNO, CA (October 9, 2023) — A man was hit and injured by a car on Jensen Avenue near Chestnut Avenue Thursday night. According to Fresno officers, the man hit on Jensen Avenue happened around 11:30 p.m. For an unknown reason, the victim was having engine trouble and parked the car on the side of the road. Subsequently, he exited his vehicle before an oncoming vehicle struck him and his disabled car.

GRAPEVINE, Calif. (KGET) — A motorcyclist is dead after a multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 5 north of Fort Tejon Road Sunday, according to California Highway Patrol. According to CHP, officers were dispatched to southbound I-5 for reports of a pickup truck blocking the number two lane, north of Fort Tejon Road. While officials where en route, two motorcyclists on separate motorcycles, traveling southbound on I-5, crashed into the rear of the stopped pickup truck and were ejected.

PIKESVILLE, MD–Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred overnight on I-695 in Baltimore County. At just after 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, troopers responded to the outer loop of I-695 prior to Security Boulevard for a report of a two-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, the driver and sole occupant of a 2006 Honda Civic, identified as Bryan Joseph Lee, 37, of Catonsville, crashed into the concrete median and his vehicle became disabled in the road.
