LAKE COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — Authorities say two truck operators and a police patrol car were struck by a vehicle while working at the scene of a crash Thursday night, which resulted in the hours-long closure of I-90 West in Lake County. The situation started around 7:52 p.m. when troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Chardon Post were at the scene of a commercial vehicle crash along I-90 near milepost 207 in Madison Township.

A semi-trailer was stopped in the right lane due to stopped traffic in front of it when another semi struck the rear of it.

HARPSWELL, Maine — A car crash in Harpswell left a 71-year-old pedestrian dead Wednesday afternoon. A 911 caller reported a car collision on Harpswell Islands Road near the Tower Hill Road intersection around 2:49 p.m. to the Cumberland Sheriff’s Office, according to its news release. An initial investigation found a 41-year-old man was traveling north in a Chevrolet Silverado when it crossed the centerline and struck an empty BMW X3 SUV, deputies said.

SALADO, Texas — Texas Department of Public Safety officials have arrested a Killeen man in connection with a deadly hit-and-run that killed a tow truck driver on Interstate 35 in December 2024. Troopers responded at about 12:14 a.m. Dec. 20, 2024, to a crash on northbound I-35 near Exit 287 in Salado involving a tow truck operator, DPS said. The driver, identified as 57-year-old David Conrad Holz, was loading a disabled vehicle onto his tow truck when he was hit and killed by a passing car.

ROOTSTOWN, Ohio (WJW) — A trooper was struck on Interstate 76 westbound during a snowy morning commute Thursday, Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed to FOX 8 News. The incident took place just after 10 a.m. near mile marker 39 in Rootstown Township, just south of Ravenna. The trooper was reportedly investigating a traffic accident that had taken place around 9:20 a.m. and was struck from behind while sitting in his cruiser.

Just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the Indiana State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, it was evident that the initial crash had led to multiple crashes involving a total of 30 different vehicles. Semis, as well as passenger vehicles, blocked the eastbound lanes and the center median near the 94-mile marker, just two miles east of Elkhart, Indiana.

A 95-year-old man died and three others were injured after a “serious” crash in Illinois. The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the intersection of Lake Cook Road and Quentin Road in Deer Park, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). Authorities were first alerted to a disabled vehicle at the intersection and were told a short time later that “a serious traffic crash” had occurred at the same location.

A 54-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle on the eastbound Walt Whitman Bridge early Sunday morning after exiting his own disabled car, officials said. The motorist was standing in front of his car in the eastbound far right lane about 3 a.m. A second vehicle struck the disabled vehicle and then him, according to the Delaware River Port Authority. Emergency workers pronounced the Camden resident dead at the scene on the New Jersey side of the bridge, which links Philadelphia to Gloucester City.
