One rescued after crashing into semi-truck stuck in mud on Highway 33
Bakersfield, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — One person was rescued after crashing their semi-truck into the back of a big rig stuck in the mud Tuesday morning. The Kern County Fire Department said on January 10, 2023 at around 1:55 a.m., firefighters from Lost Hills and McKittrick were called to a possible crash or a vehicle stuck in the mud on Highway 33, north of Brown Material Road. This is the near the area where crews helped several people after their cars were stuck in flooding less than nine hours prior on January 9 along Highway 33 and Brown Material Road.

CHESHIRE — Part of Interstate 84 eastbound is closed after a car slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer, the state’s transportation agency says. State police say the injuries are minor. The crash happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Department of Transportation. The highway was closed between exits 26 and 27, and by 7 a.m., traffic was backed up more than 4 miles. The lanes for eastbound traffic became a sea of red brake lights.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (WHO) — The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of the two people who died in a 16-car pileup on I-80 over the weekend. It happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, when the interstate became ice-covered near Iowa City, according to a crash report from the ISP. They say a semi jack-knifed and blocked all the westbound lanes. A car driven by 57-year-old David Mosinski of Fairfield hit the trailer of the semi.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A major multivehicle crash along the North Freeway sent several people to the hospital Monday afternoon, according to officials. At 1:20 p.m., Houston TranStar verified a crash involving at least three vehicles, and shortly after, at 1:37 p.m., another crash involving nine vehicles was verified at the same spot. Three people died over the weekend following Jefferson County traffic crashes, including a woman who was struck on Elton B. Stephens Expressway after she got out of her disabled vehicle. Procha Patrice Williams , 34, was struck at 2:28 a.m. Sunday on Elton B. Stephens Expressway northbound at the U.S. 31 exit ramp, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Williams was the driver of a vehicle that became disabled in one of the traffic lanes, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.

A 20-year-old who vanished days before Christmas was found dead in a submerged car, police told news outlets. The car was pulled from Buffalo Creek in Greensboro on the morning of Friday, Jan. 6, after a passerby spotted it overturned down an embankment, the Greensboro Police Department told WFMY. Officers confirmed the car belonged to Nicholas Snead and later identified the body found in the driver’s seat as Snead. Police told WXII they are investigating his death as a traffic fatality but have not determined what caused the crash.

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth police are investigating a crash on I-30 that left two people dead early Saturday morning. The wreck happened just before 2:30 a.m., when investigators said a motorcycle slammed into the back of a car that was stalled in the westbound lanes or the right shoulder of the interstate, near Alta Mere Drive. One of the victims was the motorcyclist, who was thrown from his bike.

Illia Shemchuk, 50, remains in critical condition in a Libertyville hospital Friday with multiple internal injuries and fractures throughout his body, according to his daughter, Anastasiia Garza,of Naperville. Her father was returning to Bartlett to unload his cargo when his vehicle became involved in a fender-bender on Interstate 94 near Gurnee, Garza said.
