Good Samaritan hit, killed by car after helping stranded driver
PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT/Gray News) – A man in Kentucky died while helping a stranded driver on the highway around 6:45 p.m. Thursday. According to the coroner, 75-year-old George Lucas was driving on U.S. 27 when he spotted a car on the side of the road. The driver had run out of gas. Lucas pulled over to help push that person’s car to a nearby gas station to get fuel.

PEMISCOT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - One person died and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 Thursday night. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:50 p.m. at mile marker 20.8 and involved a commercial vehicle and a passenger car. The crash report states a 2009 Kia Spectra ran off the road, hit the cable barrier and stopped in the road. A 2023 Volvo Tractor then hit the Kia.

ROBESON, NC, (December 20, 2022) - The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says a 60-year-old woman died Tuesday evening when she was struck by a vehicle along Interstate 95 in Robeson County. According to authorities, Erline B. White, of St. Pauls, was traveling in a vehicle that crashed along the interstate close to 6 p.m. After the wreck, White exited the vehicle, attempted to cross the roadway, and was hit by a pickup truck.

GURNEE, Ill. (CBS) – A truck hit a man out on the roadway on the Tri-State Tollway in Gurnee amid the winter storm Thursday afternoon. In the late afternoon, Illinois State Police were called to southbound I-94 near Washington Street in Gurnee. The accident scene is at the southwest corner of where Six Flags Great America is located. State police said a pedestrian had been driving earlier and had been involved in a two-vehicle crash.

MYERSVILLE, Md. - A person is dead after being struck by a tractor-trailer while checking a tire on the shoulder of a Frederick County highway. The crash happened just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday along the westbound lanes of Interstate-70 near Harmony Road in the Myersville area. Authorities say the person pulled off onto the shoulder of the roadway and was checking on a front tire when they were struck. The crash is under investigation at this time.

A hit-and-run investigation is now underway after Peoria police found the body of a woman on Loop 101 in Peoria. Just prior to 3 a.m. Dec. 19, the Peoria Police Department was dispatched to a report of a dead body found in a car at an offramp of the southbound Loop 101 in the Gravel Tree area near the Peoria Avenue exit. After arriving, police found a 33-year-old woman outside the vehicle.

Springfield Township, OH — December 20, 2022, 32-year-old Charles Simmons died in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 in Springfield Township. Authorities say the incident happened around 6:00 a.m. on westbound I-70 near mile marker 52. Preliminary investigation suggests Simmons was driving a Nissan Altima west on the highway when he was involved in a crash and his vehicle became disabled. Soon afterward a Freightliner 18-wheeler approached and hit the Nissan, after which both vehicles ran off the right side of the road and caught fire.

ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI – After rear-ending another vehicle, a man got out of his vehicle and was struck by a car and killed Tuesday afternoon. Pau Khan Kap, 72, of Battle Creek, was killed around 5:40 p.m., Dec. 20, on M-89 at the intersection of 6th Street in Gun Plain Township, Michigan State Police said. Kap was driving a Honda minivan when he rear-ended a Toyota SUV that was stopped on M-89, waiting to turn onto 6th Street, police said.

MORTON GROVE, Ill. (CBS) – Police are investigating a crash after a person is critically hurt after a traffic crash in Morton Grove Wednesday morning. Morton Grove police responded to the area of Dempster and Austin for a traffic crash around 3:53 a.m. Initial reports say a 2010 White Nissan SUV was traveling eastbound on Dempster approaching Austin when the rear passenger fell out of the vehicle onto the roadway.

WASHINGTON, MO, (December 20, 2022) - A 45-year-old man lost his life Tuesday afternoon when he was hit by a motor vehicle along Missouri Highway 47 in Washington County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Robert W. Wilkinson, of Blackwell, stopped a 2017 Buick Encore along the right shoulder of Highway 47 and exited the vehicle. Soon after, Wilkinson was standing near a 2007 Ford Fusion parked along the left shoulder when a southbound 2000 Ford F-350 pickup truck crashed into the back of the Fusion and then hit Wilkinson.
