Good Samaritan killed by hit and run driver in Fremont, CHP says
FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) – The search for a suspect in the hit-and-run death of a Good Samaritan. The woman was killed after stopping to help another driver, who had been involved in a single-car crash on Interstate 880 in Fremont. It happened just after 2:30 a.m. on the off-ramp leading to Highway 262. California Highway Patrol says she was in a car that pulled over to help move the crashed vehicle to safety on the side of the road.

CHICAGO (CBS) – A multiple-vehicle crash on Saturday sent eight people, including three children, to the hospital, many of them with serious injuries, police said. The driver of the man who caused the crash has died, police said. The accident happened around 5 p.m. on Saturday near 122nd Street and Torrence Avenue. A man was driving a sedan northbound on Torrence when he went into oncoming traffic and struck an SUV head-on.

CHICAGO - A driver was killed in a rear-end crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Wednesday morning. Illinois State Police responded to northbound I-94 at 95th Street around 12:27 a.m. for a three-vehicle crash. Lataya Lyons, 20, of Gary, Indiana, was killed after her Nissan Altima was rear-ended, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Lyons and another driver slowed down for a separate crash in front of them.

DAVIE - The northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike near the I-595 interchange were closed for hours on Wednesday after a deadly crash involving three vehicles. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of an Infinity JX SUV was heading north approaching the interchange when he veered in the path of a Toyota RAV 4 and struck it. The Infinity spun onto the paved shoulder after the crash. The Toyota was sent spinning across the road and slammed into the concrete median barrier wall.

According to Nevada State Police, this happened on May 1 just before 10 p.m. Investigators said a blue Dodge Avenger was stopped in the far right lane after running out of gas. That’s when police said a passenger, identified as 28-year-old Khalin Hershel Houston, got out and walked to the back of the vehicle.

Sources report the victim’s semi-truck was headed north on I-90 on the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge taking Exit 50 when the truck had to avoid a passenger vehicle disabled in the right shoulder lane with a flat tire. The evasive action reportedly sent the semi-truck head-on into a concrete barrier and caused the truck to catch fire.

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a man was killed on Interstate 295 while he was trying to change his tire early Monday morning. It happened around 2 a.m. just before the Meadowbridge Road exit. State Police said the man’s car was broken down and he appeared to be changing his tire on the right shoulder when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A Beltway crashed that closed multiple lanes and caused a big traffic backup on Monday started with an overturned box truck, Maryland State Police said Tuesday. MSP investigators said a box truck struck a jersey wall on I-495 northbound before MD-190 near the River Road exit just before 1 p.m. The initial crash caused a chain-reaction crash involving six vehicles. The truck also lost its load of sheet metal, which led to a lengthy clean up process.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) – A man was killed after crashing into the back of a parked semi-truck in Fresno County on Sunday morning. The crash happened at 5:15 am in the area of Cherry and Lincoln avenues. The California Highway Patrol says a 26-year-old man’s vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and hit the back of a semi-truck that was parked along the roadway. The man died from his injuries before he could be taken to the hospital.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is investigating a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist Saturday night. Investigators said officers responded to a crash around 11:02 p.m. and learned that a black Harley Street Glide was traveling westbound on 150 Highway when it was rear-ended by a black Chevrolet Malibu who was traveling westbound on 152 Highway. The Chevrolet was then rear-ended by a black Honda Civic.
