More Than a Dozen Vehicles Crash on I-8 in Mission Valley During Rainy Morning Commute
Traffic was temporarily halted on westbound Interstate 8 in Mission Valley following a multi-vehicle crash during a drizzly morning commute Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatch. At least 14 vehicles crashed in nine separate accidents starting at about 5 a.m. near the Taylor Street/Hotel Circle freeway exit, CHP officer Samuel Mendoza said. Two cars initially crashed on the freeway, leading to other drivers crashing and causing a pile-up on the road.

PLACENTIA, Calif. (May 4, 2023) — A two-vehicle crash on the Orange 57 Freeway in Placentia happened Thursday morning near Orangethorpe Avenue. The collision occurred around 6:39 a.m. on May 4th, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officials reported the female driver of a black Hyundai Sonata hit a wall and then a semi-truck crashed into her vehicle. The woman suffered major injuries and was non-responsive after the crash.

A 22-year-old Maryland man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that left a 14-year-old dead in July, according to local reports. Tyler Mailloux faces 17 charges, including failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, more than nine months after the crash that killed Gavin Knupp. Worcester County States Attorney Kristen Heiser filed charges against Tyler Allen Mailloux, 22, of Berlin, Maryland, on Friday, which include failure to immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failing to return and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failing to immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of an accident involving death, and failing to report the accident within 15 days.

WASHINGTON - A local bartender died after being struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning on Interstate 295 in an apparent hit-and-run. MPD’s Major Crash unit did an initial investigation which revealed that at approximately 3:18 a.m., a silver 2001 Toyota Corolla was parked on the left shoulder with the vehicle’s hazard lights activated for what looked to be mechanical issues on Interstate 295 southbound prior to exit 1B and 1C.

WOODBRIDGE – A 19-year-old New York man died Monday after his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder of Route 440. According to the New Jersey State Police, the crash occurred at 12:24 p.m. on the northbound highway at milepost 1.4 in Woodbridge. A preliminary investigation indicates a Freightliner pulling a utility trailer was parked on the right shoulder of Route 440 when a Honda Accord driven by Joey Lopez, of Staten Island, was traveling north, entered the right shoulder and struck the rear of the Freightliner causing both vehicles to catch fire, State Police said.

A passenger in a van that became disabled on the northbound New Jersey Turnpike was killed Sunday night after the vehicle was rear-ended in the right lane, authorities said. Dawn Cole, 80, of East Norwich, New York, was pronounced dead after the crash, which took place shortly before 10:40 p.m. on the outer roadway near Exit 13 in Elizabeth, according to State Police. The van was rear-ended by the front cab of a tractor-trailer that was not towing a trailer at the time of the crash, police said.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Maloney, 18, was traveling in a Pontiac G6 that went off the left side of the highway at about 10:08 p.m. and crossed the median, before overturning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Maddix, 33, was trying to help the occupants of a car that crashed when she was hit by the semi-truck at about 10:08 p.m. between Ohio 188 and U.S. 22. Sadly, Maddix was pronounced dead at the scene.
