80-Year-Old Killed Trying to Remove Obstruction From I-93 in NH
An older man was killed while attempting to clear an obstruction from Interstate 93 in Sanbornton, New Hampshire, on Wednesday morning, police said. Ernest Duncan, an 80-year-old from Bristol, was headed south on the highway when he noticed an obstruction in the middle of the road just before 11 a.m., New Hampshire State Police said. After parking his 2004 GMC pickup truck on the left side of the road, Duncan tried to remove the obstruction — officials did not specify what it was — but was hit by a 2017 Nissan in the process, state police reported.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A driver who lost control on Interstate 15 near Friars Road struck a box truck and died in the crash, the California Highway Patrol said. A 25-year-old Spring Valley man was fixing a flat tire on a Chevrolet box truck on the right shoulder of north I-15 when a 27-year-old man in a Toyota sedan veered off the roadway and struck the truck around 1:10 a.m., according to the CHP.

TOLEDO, OH, (July 29, 2022) - Bryona Blacksten was tragically struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on Friday, July 29, in Toledo. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), Blacksten’s Jeep Compass was stopped eastbound on Interstate Route 475 near Corey Road at about 9:28 p.m. when she exited the vehicle and was hit. Sadly, Blacksten, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

A three-vehicle crash in Pinehurst closed Highway 211 for about an hour and sent two people to the hospital Friday. Emergency crews were called to Highway 211 near Juniper Lake Road around 8:45 a.m. Troopers tell Sandhills Sentinel that a disabled car was blocking a southbound lane of traffic. A second vehicle stopped to offer help to the driver of the disabled car. A male driver of a third vehicle did not see the other vehicles and slammed into the back of the second car.

MADISON, Tenn. (WZTV) — A West Salem, Ohio woman died Friday after a two-vehicle collision on I-65 south near Madison, Tennessee. The victim, 76-year-old Phyllas Louise Fone was a back seat passenger in the Dodge Journey minivan, according to Metro Police. The 56-year-old driver of the Dodge said a white or silver vehicle suddenly tried to switch into his lane of travel and hit the right front tire of his minivan.

Richmond police are investigating the death of a woman early Friday on the Powhite Parkway and Downtown Expressway interchange. The woman at about 12:12 a.m. had gotten out of a disabled vehicle that was stopped in the left southbound lane in the interchange, police said. A sedan traveling southbound hit her in the left lane of the freeway. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene.

(KABC) – One person was killed and four others were injured in a fiery multi-vehicle crash in Riverside early Wednesday morning - and a harrowing rescue in the middle of the freeway was caught on video. It happened just after midnight along the eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway between Van Buren Boulevard and Adams Street. In video obtained by Eyewitness News, a vehicle is seen crashing into a wall near the freeway and immediately bursting into flames.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 6:39 p.m. in the area of I-14 and W.S. Young Drive. According to officials, an 18-wheeler stopped on the shoulder due to mechanical issues. Another vehicle reportedly stopped in the right lane of travel to assist the truck driver. While there, another vehicle crashed into that vehicle and the 18-wheeler.

Orange County, TX — July 25, 2022, two people were injured in a chain-reaction wreck of at least eight vehicles on Interstate 10 in Orange County. According to reports the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on eastbound I-10 near Exit 879. Preliminary investigation suggests a Mazda passenger vehicle got a flat tire and stopped in the travel lanes. Several vehicles slowed behind it in the roadway, but an approaching Peterbilt tractor-trailer that may have been speeding crashed into the line.

UNION CITY, New Jersey (WABC) – Five people were injured when a hit-and-run driver caused a multi-vehicle crash involving a commuter bus on Route 495 in Union City. It happened at Bergenline Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. The driver hit another car, pushing that vehicle into the express bus lane, where it was hit by an Academy bus. That driver fled the scene but was later located by Port Authority police when his vehicle became disabled.
