9-year-old, adult driver standing next to stopped truck struck, killed on I-95
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 9-year-old boy was among two killed after an early morning crash on Interstate 95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP said that just before 5 a.m. a truck was stopped in the emergency lane of I-95 just south of the Pecan Park Road exit. Two passengers of the stopped truck were standing beside the vehicle on the shoulder, FHP said. While they were standing there, an SUV traveling on I-95 northbound veered into the emergency shoulder where it struck the stopped truck and two passengers.

Hopkins County, TX – March 9, 2022, 29-year-old Fadi Kathawa was killed in a collision between two 18-wheelers on Interstate 30 in Hopkins County. Authorities say the incident happened around 11:00 p.m. on I-30 roughly 7 miles east of Sulphur Springs. Preliminary investigation suggests Kathawa was driving a Freightliner big rig east on the highway when he lost control for unknown reasons. The truck veered out of the travel lane and hit a guardrail, then rolled over across the eastbound lanes.

SELMA, N.C. — A man was struck and killed on U.S. Highway 70 overnight after he exited his car and tried to wave down a truck for help. Authorities told WRAL News the man stepped into the path of an eastbound pickup truck on U.S. 70 near Buffalo Road late Wednesday evening. He was killed instantly. The North Carolina State Highway said the man got out of his disabled vehicle to flag down help.

The body of 63-year-old Robert Moulds, a missing Lewisville resident, was discovered Wednesday morning in his wrecked vehicle off U.S. 380 in Wise County, according to Lewisville police. Investigators say around 8:30 a.m., a volunteer firefighter doing search efforts on behalf of the family found the vehicle in a heavily wooded area, about an eighth of a mile off Hwy 380, east of County Road 1110, according to news release from the city of Lewisville.

Carneys Point, NJ (April 19, 2022) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by an 18-wheeler on the New Jersey Turnpike on Monday, April 18th at about 11:00 p.m. 53-year-old Jeanne M. Wurth, a resident of Pittsgrove, was standing on the lefthand shoulder of the northbound lanes of the turnpike just before the Delaware Memorial Bride next to her disabled vehicle when she was hit by a passing 18-wheeler. The truck operator had swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid striking Wurth’s vehicle and struck Wurth instead.

A woman lost her life while two others received injuries following a multi-vehicle wreck overnight in Long Beach. As per the initial information, the fatal five-vehicle pile-up took place on the 710 Freeway. The preliminary investigation showed that the woman’s car apparently broke down on the freeway when it was rear-ended by four other vehicles. On arrival, emergency responders found the woman dead outside her car. A second woman suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital.

East Windsor, NJ (April 18, 2022) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike on Saturday, April 16th in Somerdale. The victim, who has since been identified as local resident 43-year-old Charles Niclas 3rd, was standing outside of a vehicle on the shoulder of the northbound lane of the turnpike when he was hit by a Peterbilt tractor-trailer hauling a fifth wheel recreational vehicle in the area of mile marker 648.

Authorities say the incident happened around 8:50 p.m. on I-85 north near I-40 east. Preliminary investigation suggests a commercial tractor-trailer broke down in the middle of the interstate and shortly after it was rear-ended by a second big rig traveling around 65 mph. The rear-ending truck driver was entrapped after the collision and had to be rescued.
