11 taken to hospital after 6-vehicle chain reaction crash on I-10 at Barker Cypress
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A 6-vehicle chain reaction crash sent 11 people to the hospital, including four children, on Saturday morning. The crash that occurred at about 7 a.m. had shut down all outbound lanes of I-10 Katy Freeway at Barker Cypress for nearly three hours before reopening. According to police, a grey Honda had a mechanical issue and stopped in the road, causing a chain reaction. Officials say there was a previous accident, and a 17-year-old and another driver pulled over along the shoulder. Jamie Sanchez, 44, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, was arraigned from Reading Hospital and ordered held without bail, Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg said. The incident resulted in the sixth death in three days on the highway in the county, following two crashes that were related to each other Tuesday in which five motorists died.

Louisiana State Police Spokesman Trooper Thomas Gossen says a man died on Highway 90 near Amelia after trying to fix his disabled vehicle. The details are gut-wrenching. According to officials, 51-year-old Kumaravel Nadar of Morgan City was driving his vehicle on Highway 90 when it became disabled. He moved the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway, and according to Gossen, he went to get another vehicle to see if he could use jumper cables to get the original vehicles up and running.

A 62-year-old man from Sebastian has died after he lost control of his pickup truck on State Road 52 and collided with a flatbed trailer parked on the side of the road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. The man was driving on State Road 52, east of Shady Hills Road, when he got into a left turn lane and tried to pass other vehicles, the release said. He lost control of his truck, which traveled south and passed through the eastbound lanes of the road.

A Warren man was found dead in a disabled vehicle on Interstate 76 in Rootstown Tuesday night, according to the Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. According to the patrol, Chris E. Gilger, 67, suffered a medical emergency after pulling his Toyota Prius off the eastbound lanes of I-76 onto the shoulder. He was discovered by troopers at about 10:48 p.m. Gilger was the only occupant of the vehicle.
