Doctor arrested in hit-and-run death of nurse helping crash victim near Fresno

A cardiologist suspected in a hit-and-run that killed a nurse who had stopped to help a crash victim on a highway was arrested after a months-long investigation aided by an anonymous tip, authorities said. James Leonard Comazzi, 68, was arrested Monday at his Sonora home and booked into Fresno County jail. He posted bond Tuesday. California Highway Patrol Lt. Austin Matulonis made the arrest announcement in front of the family of Juliana Ramos, a 27-year-old nurse and mother of three.

FRESNO, CA (October 6, 2021) – A deadly truck crash on Highway 99 claimed the life of Yingyathaji Lee in northwest Fresno. Initially, a crash occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday at the northbound lanes of Highway 99 at Herndon Avenue. Investigators pointed out that the first collision left a couple of cars broken down on the roadway. Afterwards, a box truck attempted to swerve around the wreckage when it struck a parked car on the shoulder of the highway.

18-Wheeler Rear-Ends Box Truck, Drivers Injured on I-15 in Hesperia, CA

Hesperia, CA – October 4, 2021, two truck drivers were injured when a tractor-trailer hit a disabled box truck on Interstate 15 in Hesperia. Authorities say the incident happened around 7:55 a.m. on northbound I-15 between Joshua and Main streets. Preliminary investigation suggests a Hino 195 box truck was disabled on the right shoulder of the roadway when, for unknown reasons, a Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer rear-ended it. The impact caused the Hino truck to overturn on its side.

2 men killed in Sacramento County highway hit-and-run crash

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol says it’s looking for the driver who killed two people in a Monday evening crash in Sacramento County and fled the scene. CHP’s North Sacramento division said it got a call around 6:05 p.m. about a crash on westbound Interstate 80 west of Madison Avenue. Officers who responded learned that a green GMC pickup truck was traveling westbound and, for reasons unknown, went off the road and hit a Nissan Sentra and a Ford F-150.

Man struck by vehicle on Hwy. 401 after stopping to help with truck crash

A man is in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 401 while trying to help following a crash in the area. It happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday on the westbound lanes of the highway near the Renforth bridge. The man was rushed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Provincial police said a vehicle with three people inside stopped to help after a tractor-trailer jack-knifed on the westbound lanes of the 401 at Highway 427.

Woman dead in Tea Gardens crash on Pindimar Road near Myall Way

Emergency services were called to Pindimar Road near Myall Way about 11.30am after reports a Nissan Dualis and Subaru Forrester were involved in a crash. “Police have been told a woman stopped her Nissan Dualis on the shoulder of Pindimar Road, when it was struck by a Subaru Forrester,” NSW Police said in a statement. A 64-year-old woman, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene. The Subaru’s driver, a 46-year-old man, was trapped in the wreckage before emergency services freed him.

Driver who stopped after hitting deer killed when pickup slams into back of his vehicle

The victim was in front of his vehicle checking front front-end damage when the collision occurred. A man who’d gotten out of his pickup truck to check its front end after hitting a deer was killed when another driver slammed into the back of his stopped vehicle. Donald Edward Zwilling, 56, had been northbound on County Road 45 in Lynden Township around 6:30 a.m. Monday, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said, but stopped near 6th Avenue after a suspected deer crash.

NC troopers say driver involved in crash with good Samaritan ran from the scene

NEWPORT, Carteret County — A car crash this morning in Newport sent one person to the hospital. Fire and rescue officials on-scene said a car pulled off the road to call a tow truck for an abandoned vehicle when a white Dodge Challenger hit the good Samaritan’s car. North Carolina Highway Patrol said the driver of the Challenger kept going for about 400 yards–only stopping when they lost a tire.

Update: Oakdale man struck, killed on Crows Landing Road had gotten out of disabled car

An Oakdale man died early Monday morning after being hit by a minivan when he got out of a vehicle that had broken down. The collision occurred at 5:47 a.m. Monday on Crows Landing Road, near Clausen road, between the cities of Turlock and Patterson, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man, identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as 26-year-old Anthony Lucero, was traveling southbound with another man when the Dodge Ram they were in became disabled, said CHP Officer Jose Gonazalez.

Deadly night on Houston roads

On the Gulf Freeway at Woodridge, a woman on the freeway caused a chain reaction crash when a pickup driver stopped to avoid hitting her. When the pickup stopped, the vehicle behind it slammed into the back of the truck. Then, another vehicle rear-ended that vehicle, and yet another vehicle rear-ended that one. In total, four vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction crash. Seconds later, a different vehicle, which was not involved in the chain-reaction crash, hit the woman.
