Police Searching for Tractor-Trailer Involved in I-80 Hit-and-Run
According to police, the incident occurred around 10:05 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, near the 38-mile marker on Interstate 80 westbound, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County. Police say 19-year-old Evan M. Spann, of Philadelphia, had pulled his 2014 Chevrolet Traverse off the side of Interstate 80 between the fog line and the guide rail due to running out of gas. While he was parked, a tractor-trailer struck the rear driver’s side of the vehicle and did not stop.

A Vernon man was fatally struck by a pickup truck Friday afternoon while exiting his vehicle. Vernon North Okanagan RCMP says the crash happened at around 3:45 p.m. Sept. 24, when the 55-year-old man, who had been travelling west on Highway 6, pulled over to the side of the road and parked on the north shoulder. As he exited his vehicle, a pickup truck travelling eastbound failed to negotiate a curve in the highway, crossed over the centre line and struck the driver’s side of the parked vehicle, dragging the man several metres.

INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead after a crash on I-65 Monday morning. It happened around 5:20 a.m. near the 127 mile marker (at 86th Street in between the 71st Street and Whitestown/Zionsville exit) in the northbound lanes of I-65. According to Indiana State Police, two cars were involved in the crash. A man was trapped inside one of those vehicles. He was removed from the car by Pike Township firefighters and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A motorcyclist is dead after a horrific crash in central Alberta early Friday morning. Just before 6 a.m., the man struck a deer on Highway 815 and Township road 420, southeast of Ponoka. RCMP say he lost control of the bike and slid, coming to a stop in the middle of the highway. The motorcycle crashed into the ditch. Several passersby stopped to help the victim, but as they were assisting him a northbound vehicle pulled out to pass one of the vehicles that had stopped to help.

SNYDER – A Houston truck driver was killed early Thursday when his vehicle hit a semi-tractor-trailer parked on the highway shoulder because of a flat tire, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a news release. A 2006 Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer was headed northwest about 23 miles from here on U.S. Highway 84 at about 6:10 a.m. when it “crossed the east fog line,” DPS said. The 2006 Freightliner struck the rear of the parked 2016 Freightliner semi-tractor-tractor.

BOISE, Idaho — A Boise driver who ran out of fuel was struck and killed by a pickup truck late Wednesday night. The crash happened at 11:47 p.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 84 east of Boise. Idaho State Police say 54-year-old Kala Blush ran out of gas and stopped on the right shoulder of the highway.

A 34-year-old motorcyclist died after rear-ending a disabled car on a Bronx highway, officials said Wednesday. Joel Ramirez Payano was heading south on the Major Deegan Expressway near the E. 233rd St. exit in Woodlawn Heights about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when he slammed into the back of a 2007 Toyota Prius with a flat tire in the left lane. Payano tried to brake, but was too late and was thrown from his motorcycle onto the asphalt, cops said.
