UPDATE | Tractor trailer driver doing ‘great’ after hit and run sends him to hospital
MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Mason County Sheriff Corey Miller tells WSAZ he has spoken to the victim of a tractor trailer crash on Route 35, which sent a tractor trailer driver to the hospital. Sheriff Miller says the victim is a man from California, and “he’s doing great.” He adds the man should be released from the hospital this week, as early as Wednesday. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is now working to locate where the man’s truck was towed off to, and to find whoever caused the crash.

Police have identified the man hit and killed on Interstate 15 near Idaho Falls while trying to help a driver who slid off the road Tuesday morning. Idaho State Police say in a news release that the crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. near milepost 117 when 85-year-old Glen Howard, of Idaho Falls, parked on the right shoulder. Howard then tried to cross both southbound lanes to help the other vehicle.

NEW SHARON, Maine — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run that happened early Saturday morning. Police say at about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to Industry Road in New Sharon for a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash. As a result of the investigation, police determined that a vehicle had hit a deer and the driver stopped to inspect his car. As the driver was getting back into his vehicle, police say a dark-colored GM SUV or pickup truck, traveling the opposite direction, hit the man before he could get back into his vehicle.

HARTLAND, Vt. — The driver of a tractor-trailer is dead after being hit by a car on Interstate 91 early Monday morning, a spokesperson with Vermont State Police has confirmed. In a press release, police said 66-year-old Gary Starr, of Jay, pulled his tractor-trailer into the interstate’s breakdown lane near Hartland after it became “disabled.” Starr was walking in a southbound lane of the interstate when a car drove around a bend in the roadway and hit him at approximately 5:50 a.

A 78-year-old Coachella woman who died in a collision on Dillon Road last week was struck by a vehicle as she stood beside two parked vehicles, investigators said. Linda Burtenshaw was pronounced dead about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dillon and Lamel Drive in Sky Valley, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s office. She suffered fatal injuries about 15 minutes earlier. Burtenshaw had been in one of two vehicles parked along westbound Dillon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – After nearly two months of treatment and therapy, things are looking up for former Miss Waco Jamie Blanek, who was critically injured on the night of Feb. 6 when she was struck after she stopped to help victims of a crash at Chapel Road and Old Lorena Road west of Hewitt where a Jeep had collided with a Chevrolet Sonic whose driver failed to yield the right of way, according to Department of Public Safety reports.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - A Baltimore man’s Tesla was destroyed Monday after the vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer on Route 1, shearing off the passenger’s side of the roof. The driver suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention, police said. Near Route 1 and Executive Drive, Officer Brian Kim investigated and determined the driver was distracted at the time of the 8:20 a.m. Monday crash, police said.According to Kim’s investigation, the 2020 Tesla was traveling north on Route 1 in the right lane.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — A 17-year-old from Chesnee died Monday night while standing outside a truck attaching a tow strap to an RTV, according to the Spartanburg County coroner.Jordan Phillips was pronounced dead just after 9 p.m., Rusty Clevenger said. Trooper Joe Hovis said Phillips was standing between the RTV and the pickup truck while the truck was stopped on Peachtree Road. A car traveling north hit the RTV from behind causing it to hit Phillips then the pickup truck, Hovis said.
