DPS: Two dead, one hospitalized in three-vehicle crash involving semi-truck near Premont
PREMONT, Texas — Two people are dead after a crash in Jim Wells County involving three vehicles, one being a semi-truck, Texas Department of Public Safety officials said. The crash happened Thursday, Jan, 21 about 6 miles south of Premont in Jim Wells County just after 10 p.m. DPS officials said a driver of a Ford utility van was traveling south on US 281 when the driver of a Chevy Silverado, traveling north, veered into the Ford van’s lane and crashed into it head-on.

Two men, ages 46 and 34-years-old, were killed in a crash on I-71 south at the I-480/237 split Thursday morning, according to a spokesperson for the Cleveland Division of Police. The crash happened around 12:09 a.m. involving a tractor-trailer and a car.Police said a 67-year-old was operating a tractor-trailer when the left front tire went flat. The trailer pulled off onto the left berm and was stopped partially in the left lane of I-71.

Boy, I’m hurt really bad Suzie.’ I can only imagine a car hitting you going 50 miles per hour in a 20 hour zone,” said Babiasz.

LANHAM, MD — Police said a man crashed into a semi-truck in Prince George’s County on Jan. 12. Medics pronounced him dead on the scene, an incident reported added. Officers identified the victim as Carlos Chavez of Clinton. He was 47. The write-up noted that the accident happened around 11 p.m. in Lanham. Chavez was driving a black 2005 Ford E-350 east on U.S. Route 50 when his car left the travel portion of the roadway, troopers indicated.

CHICAGO - A 35-year-old Chicago man was struck and killed by a passing car as he changed a tire Monday evening on the Kennedy Expressway. He was outside his car near Sacramento Avenue about 10 p.m. when he was struck by two teenage girls in a southbound BMW, according to a statement from Illinois State Police. The man was pronounced dead, while the two girls were taken to hospitals with injuries, state police said.

A motorist who stopped to help a stranded driver was struck by another vehicle early Sunday on Lake Shore Drive near North Avenue. He pulled over to help a motorist involved in a crash about 12:45 a.m. and walked up the vehicle, but noticed it was unoccupied, Chicago police said. That’s when a southbound vehicle saw the man in the road and tried to stop, but then slammed into the back of the man’s car, police said.

A 29-year-old Rialto woman died after her car was struck while she was stopped along the shoulder of the 10 Freeway near Bloomington with a flat tire, the California Highway Patrol said. Lorraine Elizarraraz was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:09 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office reported. At about 6:40 a.m., Elizarraraz was stopped on the right eastbound shoulder of the 10 Freeway, east of Cedar Avenue, in a 2013 black Honda Fit with a flat tire.

The driver of a tractor-trailer rig was killed Friday in a pre-dawn crash on Interstate 475 in southern Monroe County, officials said. The trucker was heading south about three miles past the Bolingbroke exit at I-75 when the rig struck a car that Monroe sheriff’s deputies believe may have broken down in the freeway’s southbound left lane shortly after 5 a.m. The 18-wheeler “hit the passenger vehicle, jackknifed and slid off the roadway on its side,” killing the truck driver, according to an emailed statement from sheriff’s officials.
