Good Samaritan Killed Helping a Truck Driver Whose Tractor Trailer Got Stuck in Downed Utility Lines
According to the Highway Patrol, Vince Campbell had been trying to clear the tangled lines when another vehicle traveling southbound clipped the hanging wire that struck and killed him. An Ohio man who stopped to help a truck driver whose tractor-trailer was tangled in some downed telephone lines was killed when he was struck by the wires, officials said. Vance Owen Campbell, 54, was driving in Crane Township on Wednesday when he saw the truck become entangled in some low-hanging telephone lines that had been damaged from an earlier traffic crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Peoplereported.

A woman was killed on I-20 in Arlington early Friday when her car hit a semi-trailer that was in the road due to an earlier crash involving a suspected intoxicated driver, police said. The woman who died was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as Samantha Maxine Skaggs, 21, of Alberta, Canada. She died at the scene. Michael Bailey, 38, of Arlington, was arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter, police said.

A motorist was killed Thursday when his Toyota crashed and stopped in a carpool lane on the Century (105) Freeway in the Willowbrook area and was hit by another vehicle. The collision was reported about 12:55 a.m. on the westbound 105 Freeway west of Alameda Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. Gerson Jimenez, 38, of Whittier died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.Jimenez was driving a 2005 Toyota that crashed and stopped in the carpool lane.

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A Louisiana man is dead after a crash on Interstate 59 in Pearl River County. Mark Harris, 41 of Monroe, LA., was stopped Wednesday on the shoulder in the southbound lane of the interstate at 10:50 a.m. when a vehicle struck his 2006 Infiniti G35, reported Mississippi Highway Patrol. Harris received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Cal Robertson with MHP.

LAKELAND, Fla. - Polk County deputies said a 63-year-old man from Valrico was killed following a crash in Lakeland. The three-vehicle accident occurred Tuesday before 1 p.m. at the intersection of County Line Road and Ewell Road. Investigators said James Reynolds was head was heading west on Ewell Road in a black 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man from Lakeland was heading north on County Line Road in a white 2018 Mack Tractor hauling a 2007, 53-foot trailer.

ATHENS, Ohio (WCMH) — A woman who got out of her disabled vehicle and began walking down US-33 was seriously injured in a hit-skip crash, according to authorities. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers say the crash happened near Buena Vista Road in Hocking County around 5:10 Thursday morning.The 28-year old woman from Nelsonville had been traveling eastbound on US-33 when her car broke down. OSP says she got out of the car and began walking down the road when she was hit by a white Honda Civic.

A Washington woman in her 60s died after being hit by a semitruck on Bozeman Pass on Monday night, according to law enforcement. Trooper Justin Knapp with the Montana Highway Patrol said that two people were traveling in a silver pickup hauling a horse trailer and had stopped on the right shoulder of the eastbound lane to switch drivers just before 8 p.m. Both people were outside of the vehicle when a semi traveling in the driving lane left the roadway and hit and killed the woman.

DIXON (CBS SF/BCN) — A truck hit and killed a 47-year-old woman early Sunday morning after she stopped to help at a crash scene on Interstate Highway 80 near Dixon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The initial crash occurred shortly before 2:40 a.m. Sunday on westbound Highway 80 west of Dixon Avenue. A black Mazda CX-5 rear-ended a silver Hyundai Elantra and came to rest blocking lanes of the highway, prompting several people to stop at the scene to try to assist, CHP officials said.

Apr. 12—Northbound Interstate 81 was shut down for hours in central Schuylkill County Monday when a disabled tractor-trailer was struck by another rig and both burst into flames. One driver was hurt, but there were no life-threatening injuries, said Bill Lindenmuth, chief of Frackville’s Goodwill Hose Co., who called that fact “amazing” considering the circumstances. He said the cab and trailer on the rig that struck the other rig were destroyed by fire, as was the trailer that was struck.

BRANDYWINE HUNDRED, Delaware (WPVI) – Delaware State Police are investigating an accident that injured one person on I-495 this morning in the Brandywine Hundred section of Delaware. The accident was reported at around 8:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near Edgemoor Road.Initial reports indicate the driver lost control and struck a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of the highway. The driver was transported to an area hospital and is expected to be okay.
