CHP looking for suspect in deadly San Leandro hit-and-run
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who struck and killed an East Bay man on Interstate 880 and kept going. The Alameda County Medical Examiner and Coroner identified the driver who was killed as 52-year-old Rick Doan of San Leandro. The collision happened around 2:30 am on Friday on southbound I-880, near the Winton Avenue exit in Hayward. Officers said Doan had put his SUV in park in the middle of the freeway, opened his car door, and exited the vehicle.

Harris County, TX – June 30, 2021, one person was injured due to an accident where a car hit a semi-truck, then another semi hit the car on I-45. Authorities reported that the accidents happened at around 5:00 a.m. along the North Freeway near Airtex Drive. In their investigations, officials said that a 26-year-old man was traveling northbound along the freeway when it reportedly failed to control speed and hit a semi-truck.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police are looking for the person who struck a pedestrian on I-77 South without stopping. North Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a call for service just before 9 p.m. July 25 near the Tyvola Road exit. The initial report was a sideswipe property damage only collision between two vehicles going south. Both drivers pulled off on the right shoulder. One driver got out of her vehicle and walked to the other to talk about the accident.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Three people were killed overnight in separate crashes across the Houston area, including a hit-and-run on the Northwest Freeway. The first one happened Wednesday evening in Montgomery County when a red Subaru slammed into the back of a stalled 18-wheeler, killing the driver and critically injuring a 5-year-old. The 18-wheeler was disabled on Fish Creek just south of FM-2854 just before 9 p.m. due to a broken air brake hose, according to Texas DPS troopers.

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — A Franklin woman is dead following a crash on I-70 in Hancock County near the Marion County line. Members of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office were called to the eastbound lanes of I-70 near County Road 600 West (Mt. Comfort Exit) around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday. They received a report of a minivan colliding with the back of a tractor trailer. Officials say when the deadly crash happened, traffic was backed up due to an earlier crash on I-70 involving three semis.

A man was driving on Middlebury Street at Tipton Street when he was hit from behind by a 28-year-old woman. The woman stopped in the road and got out of her vehicle. Her and a local resident were in the roadway when a Chevy hit her car, which pushed into them.

(WNDU) - Crews responded to a bad crash on the bypass near Elm Road Wednesday afternoon. 51-year-old William Howard was driving westbound on the bypass when he hit a car that was on the shoulder with its flashers on. Williams then hit the center barrier and flipped over. Howard had to be extricated and was taken to the hospital. He is currently in serious, but stable condition with a head injury.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A 63-year-old man from Palm City was killed Tuesday in a crash on the Florida Turnpike that blocked all lanes and had traffic backed up for hours, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said. The crash, involving a landscaping truck, happened in the southbound lanes just before Exit 99 at 1:34 p.m. The truck was disabled on the side of the road due to a flat tire, according to FHP.

CHARLOTTE — A 24-year-old woman died at a hospital after she was hit by two vehicles early Monday morning in the University City area, CMPD said in a news release. Alexis Wilkins stepped out onto East Mallard Creek Church Road near North Tryon Street at about 2:30 a.m. when a 2001 Mercedes E320 struck her. The driver of the Mercedes stopped and called 911 when another vehicle, believed to be a red 2015-1017 Hyundai Sonata, hit Wilkins and did not stop.

At least 10 people were taken to hospitals, including three in critical condition, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The “series of crashes” happened just before 5 p.m. Multiple ground and air ambulances were dispatched to transport crash victims for medical treatment.
