Authorities say the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on the interstate near the Bluffton Road interchange. Preliminary investigation suggests an eastbound 18-wheeler collided with a broken-down truck on the shoulder of the roadway. The impact ripped the disabled truck’s trailer open and heavily damaged its tractor. The other semi-truck left the roadway and overturned in a nearby field.

Officials said eastbound lanes of I-40 at Sandy Ridge Road were closed just before 9 p.m. Monday because of a vehicle crash. They reopened Tuesday morning around 2:30 a.m. Greensboro police said one person was killed. According to police, a 2010 Acura TSX was being driven eastbound on Interstate 40 when it left the roadway, hit guardrail, and over turned.

A 24-year-old Wheaton man was killed and a 29-year-old Naperville man was injured late Monday night on the shoulder of Interstate 88 near Elmhurst, the Illinois State Police said Tuesday. RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was killed early Monday after being struck by multiple vehicles on eastbound Interstate 440 near Six Forks Road in Raleigh. Raleigh police were dispatched at 1:39 a.m. and discovered the injured man, later identified as 27-year-old Cameron Scott Morrison, who they said was a stranded driver. When he got out of his car, which had broken down, he was hit several times. It was unclear Monday whether the drivers who hit Morrison stopped afterward.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A longtime DeKalb County EMT who was off duty was hit and killed early Saturday morning when he stopped to help victims of a car accident.Logan Wade and his partner, who both worked for American Medical Response, were driving a non-emergency vehicle from Georgia to Louisiana to help victims of Hurricane Ida when they stopped to help at the scene of a car wreck.When they came upon the accident, they immediately pulled over to help until other emergency vehicles could get there.

One dead after car crashes into moped on I-275

A 79-year-old man from Tampa died early Saturday morning after stopping to help a broken-down van on southbound Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A van traveling I-275 in Tampa broke down in the center lane north of Interstate 4 because of mechanical issues. The Tampa man stopped his moped to help, law enforcement reported. So did one other vehicle. A Tampa woman, 44, traveling on the interstate did not stop in time, and her car crashed into the moped and vehicle, pushing them into the van.

Driver Struck By Vehicle After Crash on Route 50

An early morning, single-vehicle crash along Route 50 led to the driver being struck by an oncoming vehicle. The crash and a subsequent police investigation closed eastbound Route 50 (Arlington Blvd) at the Glebe Road overpass for several hours. The victim suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive, police say. “At approximately 4:23 a.m. on September 3, police were dispatched to the area of Arlington Boulevard and South Glebe Road for the report of a crash with injury,” Arlington County Police Department spokeswoman Kirby Clark tells ARLnow.
