Driver killed when car hits bridge, struck by tractor-trailer in Jefferson Twp.
JEFFERSON TWP., Pa. - A crash the shut down Route 183 for hours left one person dead. It happened Monday in the area of Shartlesville Road and New Schafferstown Road. The Berks County Coroner’s Office announced that a 31-year-old man, believed to be from out-of-state, died in the crash on Route 183 in Jefferson Township, Berks County. “We’re investigating a fatal crash at this time,” said State Trooper David Beohm.

An off-duty Seattle police officer was struck and killed by a vehicle while helping a driver who had been in an accident on a freeway early Sunday, authorities said. The officer, who was a five-year veteran with the Seattle Police Department, had just gotten off work when she stopped to help people involved in a 13-car collision on the I-5 freeway near the S. Forest Street exit. That’s when another vehicle that was not involved in the collision struck and killed the officer, Washington State Patrol said.

Seattle police on Monday continued to mourn the death of a well-respected colleague who was fatally struck by a car on southbound Interstate 5, after she stopped to help motorists involved in a collision. Officer Alexandra “Lexi” Harris, 38, was driving home early Sunday after her shift when she came across the crash scene near South Forest Street and was killed after getting out of her car, according to Seattle police and the Washington State Patrol, which is leading the investigation.

A driver who got out of his vehicle following a crash on Interstate 880 late Thursday night died after being hit by another vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said. Clayton County police are searching for the driver of a tractor-trailer who was involved in a hit-and-run on I-75. Officers responded to I-75 North at the ramp to I-285 West shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday after a HERO operator called about being hit by a tractor-trailer, a police spokesman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Chris Canady, the HERO operator, confirmed with the AJC that he was the victim of the hit-and-run.Canady was on the ramp to assist a tractor-trailer that was stalled.

LITTLE POINT, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One man was killed and another hospitalized Thursday morning following a three car collision on I-70, according to Indiana State Police. The wreck occurred around 12:05 a.m. Thursday at mile marker 52 near Little Point, Ind. and killed Alfred Hill Jr. of Houston, Tex. Two people are dead after a fiery crash took place late Wednesday night in southeast Travis County. It happened on Toll Way 130 near Elroy Road just before midnight. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash.
