Rialto woman with flat tire dies when her car is struck on shoulder of 10 Freeway
A 29-year-old Rialto woman died after her car was struck while she was stopped along the shoulder of the 10 Freeway near Bloomington with a flat tire, the California Highway Patrol said. Lorraine Elizarraraz was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:09 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office reported. At about 6:40 a.m., Elizarraraz was stopped on the right eastbound shoulder of the 10 Freeway, east of Cedar Avenue, in a 2013 black Honda Fit with a flat tire.

FAIRFIELD, AL, (January 15, 2021) - An accident on Friday afternoon, January 15th, near Fairfield sadly left the driver deceased and her passenger with serious injuries.Rita Faye Thomas, 37, of Vance, was driving a Kia Soul at about 1:30 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck an 18-wheeler stopped on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 59/20 between Allison-Bonnett Memorial Drive and Valley Road. Ms. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a tractor-trailer rig was killed Friday in a pre-dawn crash on Interstate 475 in southern Monroe County, officials said. The trucker was heading south about three miles past the Bolingbroke exit at I-75 when the rig struck a car that Monroe sheriff’s deputies believe may have broken down in the freeway’s southbound left lane shortly after 5 a.m. The 18-wheeler “hit the passenger vehicle, jackknifed and slid off the roadway on its side,” killing the truck driver, according to an emailed statement from sheriff’s officials.

WASHINGTON — A man is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Lanham Tuesday night, Maryland State Police said. The incident happened on eastbound US Route 50, west of Maryland Route 704, Martin Luther King Jr. Highway just after 11 p.m., police said. Police learned that the driver of a black 2005 Ford E-350 going east on US Route 50 stirred of the road onto the slow shoulder and struck a 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer from behind.

A Virginia man is being held without bond after being accused of driving a tractor-trailer that fatally struck an Ohio man working on a disabled vehicle on Interstate 70 this week, according to state police. Hosea Holcomb IV, 27, was arrested after the 7:30 a.m. Monday crash in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, police said. Holcomb was driving east near mile marker 37 before the exit to the Mon-Fayette Expressway when the tractor-trailer veered off the highway onto the berm of the road, police said.

WASHINGTON COUNTY — Virginia State Police is investigating an early-morning crash on Interstate 81 Monday that left a Glade Springs woman dead. Bridget D. Widener, 36, was northbound on I-81 at 1:18 a.m. when her 2006 Mazda ran off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail, and came to rest across the left travel lane, according to state police spokeswoman Shelby Crouch. Widener died at the scene of the crash when her car was hit by a northbound 2018 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by a 76-year-old Bristol man.

On December 26, 42-year-old Duwarn Glover and 50-year-old Willie Sanders stopped near the intersection of Redbud Road and West Mitchell Road to help a driver whose car had broken down. “They saw him stopped in the middle of the street, and they got out to help him. They actually got him up and running and were going back to their car,” Letitia Frieson, a cousin of Duwarn Glover told FOX13.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A four-year-old sustained critical injuries after a car ran out of gas on I-64, causing a multi-vehicle crash Saturday night. The call came in around 9:40 p.m. for the incident at mile marker 257.2 in Newport News, near Oyster Point Road. A spokesperson with the Virginia State Police said a preliminary investigation revealed a two-vehicle crash resulting in a 4-year-old child suffering critical injuries. A 2006 Honda Accord ran out of gas and was attempting to change lanes to get to the right shoulder when it was struck in the rear by a 2015 Honda CR-V traveling in the westbound lane.
