Osawatomie man killed after being hit by tractor-trailer on I-70 early Saturday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Osawatomie, Kansas, man was killed early Saturday when he was hit by a tractor-trailer after getting out of his car to inspect a blown tire, Kansas City police said. Authorities said the crash was reported at 3:27 a.m. on Interstate 70 under Pittman Road. Accident investigators said the driver of a Chrysler sedan had been heading west when apparently the vehicle’s tire blew out. Police said the 28-year-old driver stopped the car and got out.

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A Caswell County woman died when she crashed into a tractor-trailer at an off-ramp of Interstate 40 in Durham Friday afternoon, police said. The wreck happened just after 4 p.m. at exit 270, which is the off-ramp from I-40 east to U.S. 15/501, which is also Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, according to Durham police. One vehicle was broken down when the two-vehicle crash happened, police said Friday.

ST. LOUIS — The pedestrian killed Friday while standing on Interstate 44 in downtown St. Louis has been identified as 38-year-old Lonnie Jones of St. Peters. Jones was standing near a pickup truck that had broken down in a traffic lane of the interstate near Walnut Street. About 10:45 a.m. Friday, a 2016 Ford Escape SUV traveling west on the interstate hit a trailer that the disabled vehicle had been pulling.

Salado, TX – August 25, 2021, one person was fatally injured in a rear-end crash with a tractor-trailer on the shoulder of I-35 in Salado. Authorities say the incident happened before 4:15 p.m. on southbound I-35 near mile marker 283. Preliminary investigation suggests only that a Ford F-150 collided with the back of a commercial semi-truck’s trailer in the outside emergency lane of the roadway. The impact caused the pickup’s front end to become wedged beneath the trailer.

According to preliminary crash investigation, at approximately 11:59 p.m., on Saturday, August 21, 2021, the Texas Department of Public Safety was dispatched to a major crash on Interstate Highway 20 near mile marker 511. A previous crash between a Dodge Journey and a Toyota Sienna rendered the Journey disabled in the eastbound lane of traffic, Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Kyle Bradford tells inForney.

MILWAUKEE — A good Samaritan, killed while stopped to help at a crash scene on I-94. Jason Smeltzer saw a truck lose control on westbound lanes of I-94 in Jefferson County last Wednesday. He drove by and could have kept going, but turned around to help. Unfortunately, that act of kindness ended up being the last act of his life. Less than a week later, the pain for three families still is fresh.

The driver was speaking with 14-year-old Kailey Prenoveau who was standing in the southbound lane shoulder next to the car. Police said another car was driving south and swerved off the roadway to the right to avoid hiding the first car.
