Driver dies after being ejected from car on Maryland beltway
BALTIMORE (AP) — Police say a Maryland woman died after it appears a car struck her disabled vehicle along Baltimore’s beltway, ejecting her before she was struck by oncoming traffic. Maryland State Police identified the deceased driver at Danielle Tavakoly of Owings Mills. Police say Tavakoly was driving a Hyundai sedan about 1 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 695 when her car struck a concrete median and became disabled on the shoulder.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A person was seriously injured in a hit-and-run on Interstate 40 in Greensboro, according to police. At about 8:15 p.m. Friday, police responded to a crash on Interstate 40 east, at Gallimore Dairy Road. Police say the victim had gotten a flat tire. Part of the tire was in the roadway, so the person went to get it. That’s when they were struck. The victim was seriously injured.

Police say Fort Lauderdale victim may have been near disabled car north of Pembroke Road HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a Chevrolet pick-up truck that they say was involved in a hit and run on Interstate 95 and Pembroke Road on Friday evening. A driver traveling southbound hit the 58-year-old Fort Lauderdale man, whose name has not been released, just after 8:30 p.m., according to investigators. FHP said the man was walking northbound on the inside-emergency lane, north of Pembroke Road.

A 60-year-old Monmouth County man was struck and killed Friday night as he stood outside a car stopped on the shoulder of Garden State Parkway in Holmdel, authorities said. John Carroll of Belmar was hit shortly before 10 p.m. in the southbound local lanes near milepost 115.9, according to New Jersey State Police. Troopers said Carroll was standing outside the car, which was stopped and unoccupied on the right shoulder.Another vehicle entered the right shoulder and struck Carroll and the parked car, according to Trooper Charles Marchan.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A stranded driver and a man who stopped to help him have died after being hit by a car on I-26 West. It happened near mile marker 99 just after midnight Thursday. That’s about two miles before the Broad River Road exit in northwest Richland County. The driver of a 2007 Chevy HHR was traveling west on I-26 when he ran off the road and hit a guardrail, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.A pedestrian was killed last Sunday after a pickup truck hit him and his parked car on US 281 near Scotland, according to Texas DPS. The man was reportedly standing at the rear of his car while being illegally parked on the northbound shoulder when a northbound truck veered onto the shoulder and struck him.

The crash happened around 8:15 a.m. Durham police said a van crashed into the back of a box truck along Guess Road. According to police, the box truck had its hazard lights on and had stopped to make a delivery. Lashawn Daniel Jones, 43, of Raleigh was standing outside of the box truck and was struck by the van.

A 37-year-old man has been charged in the death of a Northern Westchester man who was struck on the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. Roberto Sandoval-Guerrero, of Toms River, New Jersey, was charged with vehicular homicide, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Daniel Cintron, 50, of Ossining, had been involved in a minor crash late Saturday, Sept. 5, with a car driven by Frank Puglisi, 21, of Staten Island before a third vehicle struck both of them along the side of the parkway, Billhimer said.

Keystone, California – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a Keystone motorcycle accident on Highway 108 near Rushing Hill Lookout Road on Saturday. Phillip Allen Luckert, 68, of Modesto, was hit and killed by a big rig after stopping his 1999 Harley Davidson on the shoulder of the highway to help another motorcyclist. After assisting, he got back to his bike when he was hit by a 2012 Kenworth big rig while attempting to enter the eastbound lanes of Highway 108.
