Deputies: Fatal 2-vehicle crash closes Hwy. 17A near Ridgeville
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Dorchester County coroner said at least one person died in two-vehicle crash near the Colleton County line involving a vehicle in the water. The coroner identified the deceased as 56-year-old Jeffrey Allen Collins of Walterboro. The crash happened on Highway 17A near Sandpit Drive, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Lt. Rick Carson said. The crash involved an SUV and an 18-wheeler. Highway Patrol officials said the tractor trailer and SUV were both heading northbound when the SUV left the roadway to make a U-turn.

A 22-year-old man, who was not involved in the accident, stopped to help remove debris from the road. A car traveling eastbound on 12th Street struck the man, and he was transported to McKay-Dee in critical condition. The man, later identified as 22-year-old John Kratzer, died from his injuries, FOX 13 learned through a GoFundMe page and confirmed through the Ogden Police Department.

HOUSTON – Houstonians are mourning the loss of a popular Bollywood radio DJ that was killed in a crash Monday. Arif Memon, 58, a well-known DJ for 106.1 HUMFM, was described as being passionate, caring and positive. According to HPD, the driver of a disabled red Freightliner tractor-trailer had stopped completely in the left shoulder of the Southwest Freeway and placed multiple warning signs along the yellow solid line between the left shoulder and the nearest lane of traffic.

FORT LUPTON, Colo. (KDVR) — A man was struck and killed by a car while outside of his vehicle on the shoulder of the 10200 block of Highway 52 on Tuesday, according to the Fort Lupton Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the site at 7:35 p.m. They found a male victim in a ditch in front of his dark-colored Honda CR-V, FLPD said. The initial investigation determined the man was outside his vehicle when another vehicle struck him.

GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) - Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said he is investigating the death of a missing Tennessee man who passed away hours after he was found in a disabled vehicle along I-85 in Gaffney Tuesday morning. Fowler said William A. England, 80, of Knoxville was discovered in his 2020 GMC pickup truck about 6 a.m. in the north bound emergency lane near mile marker 87. “Mr. England told the investigating trooper he had run off the roadway about two hours earlier,” Fowler said in a news release.

A man was killed late Sunday in a chain-reaction crash on Texas 183 in Fort Worth, police say. First responders were called about 9:30 p.m. to the crash along the eastbound lanes of the 15000 block of 183 in Far East Fort Worth. Early reports from a Fort Worth fire spokesman indicated a driver who pulled over to fix a flat tire was struck by four other vehicles. An 18-wheeler then collided with one of the vehicles in the pileup, killing one person.

A 26-year-old Waukegan man was injured Sunday in a hit-and-run on Interstate 290 near Tri-Taylor on Chicago’s Near West Side, authorities said. At approximately 3:30 a.m., the man stopped to help a vehicle that was involved in a roll-over crash in the center lane of I-290 near Western Avenue. After the man stopped, he was struck by another vehicle that fled the scene, according to Illinois State police. The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, state police said.

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating a hit-and-run in Madison Heights on Saturday. According to police, the victim was changing a flat tire on the right shoulder of I-696 west of Dequindre Road when a vehicle struck them around midnight. The vehicle – possibly a 2000-07 Ford Focus – fled the scene, police said. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Cal Fire Riverside officials confirmed a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday afternoon in Mecca. Cal Fire was first notified of the collision at approximately 2:12 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 86 and 66th Avenue. A California Highway Patrol sergeant told News Channel 3 at the scene confirmed that the pedestrian was a driver of a tractor-trailer who was stopped on the right-hand shoulder of the roadway.
