Motorcyclist killed on I-20; Samaritan’s car hit by tractor trailer, bursts into flames

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning on Interstate 20 in Arlington in a traffic accident where a good Samaritan pulled the victim off the highway, Arlington police said. But a tractor trailer approaching the accident scene, collided with the good Samaritan’s car which then burst into flames. No injuries were reported in the secondary crash. The name of the motorcyclist had not been released as of Tuesday afternoon pending notification of relatives.

Last week, Winter Storm Gail dumped multiple feet of snow across the North East, burying the landscape and wreaking havoc on roads. The storm claimed the lives of at least five people in the States, and another is lucky to be alive after a harrowing experience that found him trapped for hours in his car beneath feet of snow. Kevin Kresen, a 58-year-old from New York, was driving along State Route 17C around midnight in Owego, New York, about an hour-and-a-half south of Syracuse, when he lost control of his Ford Fusion and went off the road.

Woman hit, killed after getting out of tractor-trailer on I-270 in Hazelwood

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A woman was hit and killed on Interstate 270 after her tractor-trailer broke down on the interstate Tuesday afternoon. At around noon, troopers with Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to westbound I-270 near James McDonnell Boulevard for a crash. This is in Hazelwood. MSHP said the driver of a tractor-trailer got out because her truck broke down on the interstate. She was setting cones out to alert other drivers to slow down because her truck was stalled in one lane.

Coroner identifies man struck, killed after crash on I-64, I-264 exit ramp in west Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 44-year-old man was killed late Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle on an exit ramp on Interstate 64 in west Louisville, police said. James C. Shively, of Louisville, died of blunt force injuries in the incident reported around 11 p.m. Sunday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said in an update.According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, Shively was killed after he was involved in a crash on the I-64 exit ramp to Interstate 264.

Man hit by car on Sniders Highway

A 78-year-old Colleton County man was critically injured after he was struck by a car in the 700 block of Sniders Highway on Friday Dec. 11. At 10:05 a.m., 9-1-1 began receiving multiple reports of the accident. It appeared the man’s southbound Cadillac became disabled and stopped in the lane of traffic. The man exited his vehicle and walked to the front of the car when his vehicle was struck from behind by a southbound Dodge Challenger.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A 21-year-old Port Charlotte man was hit and killed on I-75 in Charlotte County Wednesday night after trying to help others who were involved in a separate crash. Trevor Smith, 21, a Navy airman was killed in the crash, according to Smith’s girlfriend. Smith died after a pickup truck veered off the road and hit him while he was trying to help the crash victims, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Overturned tractor trailer on I-24WB snarls morning traffic in Nashville

A portion of Interstate 24 Westbound near New Hope Road is reopening after a crash involving a semi shut the road down for hours Thursday morning. The initial call came in around 3:50 a.m. and snarled morning rush hour traffic. Officers on scene tell FOX 17 News that an SUV hit a semi that was pulled off on the side of the road. That SUV was then hit by a different semi that ended up overturning.

St. Paul teacher dies in vehicle accident Friday

A teacher at a St. Paul charter school was struck and killed by a passing driver Friday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Alexa Hokeness, 29, of Lakeville, was a special-education teacher at the Hmong College Prep Academy. At about 5 p.m. Friday, Hokeness was driving on state Highway 64 near the central Minnesota town of Motley. She stopped her car, got out and was in the northbound lane when hit by a car driven by Leland Baldwin, 69, of Ramsey.

Number of people killed in auto wrecks increases in St. Louis, across state

ST. LOUIS — Although the pandemic has forced many to work from home and stay off the roads, St. Louis and state officials say more people have died in automobile crashes in 2020 than in recent years. St. Louis police reported 73 fatal wrecks in the city as of Tuesday. Twenty-two of those involved pedestrian deaths. Last year there were 56 deaths in St. Louis, including 14 who were pedestrians. And in the year before that there were 49 deaths, with 17 of those killed being pedestrians.

Tractor-Trailer Driver Injured After Hitting Another Truck In Yonkers

A tractor-trailer driver was injured after hitting another tractor-trailer parked on the side of a stretch of the New York State Thruway in Westchester. The incident took place around 1 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 13, in Yonkers, said the New York State Police. According to the state police, the injured driver, who had been extricated, was traveling northbound on I-87 in Yonkers when the vehicle hit another tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder.
