KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman was killed in Kansas City, Kansas while checking on another crash victim early Sunday morning. KCK police were called to the 5900 block of Nogard on an injury accident just after 3:00 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered two separate crashes involving three vehicles and one death. The initial investigation indicates an SUV traveling southbound on 59th at Nogard was hit by a sedan traveling north.

Pedestrian hit, killed on I-15 south of Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 15 south of the Las Vegas valley on Sunday, according to Nevada Highway Patrol. NHP got a report of a crash just after 10:45 a.m. on northbound I-15 near mile marker 7, Trooper Ashlee Wellman said.A blue Kia Soul was stopped in the left shoulder of southbound I-15, Wellman said. One of the passengers left the car and went into the northbound side of the interstate to retrieve some belongings.

CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) — PennDOT and State Police are putting out a grim warning following a recent trend of pedestrians getting seriously injured or killed along the interstates, especially I-81. These aren’t people making the unwise decision to walk along the side of the highway — we’re talking about drivers who pulled over because their car broke down and then they were struck. In the past couple months, PennDOT officials say four people have been killed or seriously injured in crashes just like these.

There were nearly three breakdowns every day in live lanes on a 10-mile stretch of M1 smart motorway in January, “shocking” new figures reveal. Live lane breakdowns occurred 81 times in January between Junction 32 and Junction 35A in South Yorkshire, according to Department for Transport statistics obtained by Rotherham MP Sarah Champion . Since March 2017, when the section became a “smart motorway” with no hard shoulder, there have been an average of 68 incidents per month where vehicles have broken down in live lanes.

Rael Verduzco and daughter killed in Stanislaus County truck accident

STANISLAUS, CA - A mother and her 9-year-old daughter tragically lost their lives on Wednesday, Feb. 3 when the vehicle they were passengers in was hit by a box truck along Interstate 5. The victims were identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Rael Verduzco, 30, and her daughter Erika Tineo-Verduczo. Both were Ontario residents.According to the California Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Daniel Vega was behind the wheel of a Toyota sedan.

WEST PALM BEACH — A 23-year-old Northern Virginia man died early Tuesday in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 that began when he tried to push his disabled vehicle off the roadway, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Two people hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash on I-464 in Chesapeake

State police said a tractor trailer rear-ended a dump truck. Two people were hurt, but they’re expected to recover. CHESAPEAKE, Va. — State police investigated a crash that shut down a portion of I-464 near the I-64 interchange Tuesday morning and sent two people to the hospital. Troopers were called to the scene just before 9:45 a.m. Initially, police said “several dump trucks and other vehicles” were involved. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-464 were shut down and traffic was rerouted to Military Highway.

Driver fatally struck after she gets out of car on highway

WINSLOW, N.J. (AP) — A Philadelphia woman was struck and killed on a major highway in southern New Jersey after her car ended up in an embankment and she got out of the vehicle, authorities said. Natalia Cordova, 32, was hit around 1:35 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound left lane of the Atlantic City Expressway, near milepost 40 in Winslow. She was pronounced dead a short time later. New Jersey state police say Cordova’s car was found along an embankment in the center median, but it’s not yet known how the vehicle ended up there.

Police identify 25-year-old who died after stepping into path of semi on I-65N in Scott County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Indiana State Police is investigating after a man was struck and killed by a semi-truck on I-65N in Scott County, Indiana, early Monday after he stepped out of his vehicle following a crash. According to a news release from ISP, 911 calls reporting the crash started coming in just before 3 a.m. about the accident near mile marker 34, not far from Austin. When officers from the Austin, Indiana Police Department and Indiana State Troopers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, 25-year-old Stefan Porch of Matteson, Illinois.

Patrol identifies man struck and killed while changing tire

SISSETON, S.D. — Authorities have identified a man who was struck and killed while changing a tire on Interstate 29 near Sisseton. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 78-year-old Gerald Bartell, of Herman, Minnesota, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Tuesday afternoon crash. The patrol says Bartell had pulled over to the shoulder and was kneeling near the pickup on the driver’s side when a man driving a semi-trailer struck both the vehicle and Bartell.
