Woman struck by vehicle on I-94 near Englewood
A preliminary investigation found that the woman was a passenger of a vehicle that was having mechanical issues and the driver of the vehicle pulled over to the left shoulder and partially into the left lane and as she got out of the vehicle, she was struck by a passing vehicle. A 19-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle Sunday on Interstate 94 near Englewood on the South Side, according to preliminary information from Illinois State police.

ALPINE, N.J. (AP) — A Brooklyn man who apparently got out of his minivan because he thought he had hit an animal was struck and killed by a car on a parkway linking New York and New Jersey, police said. The 41-year-old man was hit Thursday on the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, New Jersey, just before the New York state line.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Public Safety is providing information on a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Thursday morning. According to the report from DPS, 33-year-old Glenn Mark Shirley was transferring items to a waiting vehicle from his 2007 Chevy Silverado that had broken down on the shoulder of eastbound highway 114, about two miles from Opdyke West. The report states Shirley stepped into the roadway and was struck by a 2003 Ford F350 pickup truck.

Two pedestrians who were standing on the right shoulder of the Interstate 215 Freeway died after being struck by a vehicle on June 30, according to the California Highway Patrol. At about 11:45 p.m., a 22-year-old Ontario man driving a 2013 White Ford E350 box truck was traveling on I-215 southbound, south of Palm Avenue in San Bernardino. At the same time, the pedestrians were standing outside two parked vehicles on I-215.

BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) - Bessemer police are investigating after a man was killed when he got out of his car to check damage after an accident on I-459. The Jefferson County Coroner said 66-year-old Harold Lee Henson was struck Friday morning around 5:00 a.m. in I-459 North in Bessemer. The coroner said the person who hit Henson drove off and Henson pulled his car into the emergency lane on the right shoulder of the road.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A Winter Haven man died Monday morning after his pickup hit a disabled semi on the outside lanes of Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. According to troopers, a semi that was heading westbound experienced a mechanical failure and stopped on the outside travel lane, just west of County Line Road. Troopers said the semi had its hazard lights flashing when it was rear-ended by the driver of a pickup.

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Battle Creek man is in critical condition after he was thrown off of his motorcycle and then hit by another vehicle that then fled the scene. It happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Helmer Road and Goguac Street in Springfield, near the Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field. Calhoun County Sheriff deputies say the 31-year-old motorcyclist rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped on the roadway to turn left onto Goguac.

TAMPA — A 19-year-old man from Sioux City, Iowa, was struck and killed by a vehicle while standing on the side of the Howard Frankland Bridge on Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A pick-up truck towing a trailer drifted onto the shoulder and struck the man as he stood along the fog line of the northbound shoulder just before 1 p.m., troopers said. He was a passenger in a vehicle that had broken down and was examining it when he was hit.

McLean County Coroner Dr. Kathy Yoder identified the victim as 57-year-old Richard E. Gaunt, Jr., of Morton. An investigation from the Illinois State Police (ISP) determined that the driver was traveling eastbound on I-74. Gaunt was outside his vehicle on the right shoulder at milepost 125. He was securing the load on top of his vehicle.
