Victim identified after hitting a disabled tractor-trailer on Longstreet Road

CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The Calhoun County Coroner’s Office has identified a victim that hit a disabled tractor-trailer on Thursday. Officials say Jake Scott, 54, died on Longstreet Road near S.C. Highway 6 from multiple blunt-force trauma. According to investigators, he was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang when he crashed into the disabled tractor-trailer on Longstreet Road around 10:15 a.m. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says no one was inside the tractor-trailer but Scott wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

BEAUMONT, Texas — One person has been killed and two injured following a wreck early Tuesday along westbound Interstate 10 just east of Vidor. The fatal wreck shut down both the east and westbound lanes of I-10 near Doty Road for nearly six hours according to The Texas Department of Public Safety. The driver of a Dodge 3/4-ton pickup truck, towing a car hauler with three vehicles, told troopers he was headed west on Interstate 10 and had pulled over due to mechanical problems.

4 injured in a pair of crashes on U.S. 10 in Midland

MIDLAND, Mich. (WJRT) - Four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries after separate crashes on both sides of U.S. 10 in Midland early Tuesday morning. The first crash was reported around 6:15 a.m. on the westbound lanes of U.S. 10 between Eastman and Stark roads. Two vehicles collided and a semi truck hauling a load of scrap rolled onto its side after the driver took evasive action to avoid them. The Midland Police Department says two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

Update: Person killed on I-77 in Fort Mill was standing outside car, troopers say

A person standing along Interstate 77 near a disabled vehicle was killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash that caused traffic to be backed up for miles, officials said. The wreck happened around 2:30 p.m. on the interstate near Exit 83 in Fort Mill, according to Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol. Troopers advised motorists to seek other routes because of the backups that lasted into Tuesday evening.

California woman killed after exiting SUV to tend to children following earlier crash

A Northern California woman was killed and another seriously injured Friday evening, struck by a vehicle while standing outside their own disabled SUV to tend to two young children inside of it, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash happened around 7:40 p.m. Friday on Live Oak Boulevard in unincorporated Sutter County, CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office said Monday in a news release. The incident involved a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse and a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox.

Deer causes crash involving multiple cars

LANSING, Mich. — A deer caused a crash involving seven vehicles Sunday night. It started when a 19-year-old woman from Indiana hit the deer and spun out. The vehicle was left disabled in the middle of the I-94 near Marshall. A second car collided with it head on. A 58-year-old man from Lansing along with two women were seriously injured. Police say their injuries are not life-threatening. While the two cars were spinning, they hit three other vehicles that were driving around the collision.

Driver killed when car hit by tractor-trailer on Route 95 in Warwick

A 54-year-old Fall River man was killed early Monday morning when his car was hit from the rear by a tractor-trailer on Route 95 in Warwick, the state police said. Patrick Albin as the driver and sole occupant of a Toyota Corolla that was hit about 5 a.m. on Route 95 South, just north of Route 117, the state police said. The state police said a preliminary investigation indicates that the Corolla was stopped in the breakdown lane when it was hit by the tractor-trailer.

Good Samaritan killed on I-65 northbound near Elizabethtown

A Hardin County man was killed while helping a person involved in a traffic accident on Interstate 65 on Monday morning. Officials got an initial call at 3:25 am about an accident near the 97-mile marker of I 65 north involving one vehicle, said Hardin County Deputy Coroner Shana Norton. The man killed was Michael Fizer, 48, of Hardin County, Norton said. He stopped to help the person in the crash when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Police Make Arrest In South Central Omaha Hit And Run

Omaha Police say 19-year old Carlos Gonzales of Omaha has been booked for leaving the scene of a personal injury collision after a person working on a disabled vehicle was hit by a car Sunday evening. Investigators say 30-year old Reynold Reed was fixing a tire near 60th and F Streets when he was hit by a northbound Nissan Altima. Police say warning lights were flashing on the car, and an orange traffic cone was in place.
