Woman dies in overnight crash near Coweta
A two-vehicle crash on Highway 51 in Coweta just south of 121st Street has claimed the life of a Coweta woman. The accident occurred Monday around 1:27 a.m. Officer Austin King said the woman was a passenger in a Honda Civic that was parked on the highway shoulder facing eastbound. How far the vehicle had pulled off of the roadway has yet to be determined. The male driver, from Broken Arrow, was in the ditch away from the car for an unknown reason, according to the officer.

In addition to alcohol, speed and distracted driving, Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) troopers are now finding slow driving to be a safety hazard on the roadways. According to Trooper Brian Neff, one of the things the patrol has seen a big spike in recently is motorists breaking down or having car troubles not getting off the interstate. “We have had several instances of that lately,” Neff said. “We had one, turn very tragic, where a person was either driving very, very slow or stopped and another vehicle came upon them.

A deadly multivehicle crash on I-285 in DeKalb County blocked all eastbound lanes of the Perimeter for hours Friday afternoon. The wreck occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. near the Moreland Avenue exit on the outer loop, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The incident began after a Chevrolet Malibu broke down in the second left lane and its driver got out. The man, identified Saturday as 32-year-old Jimmy Tajada, was standing by the rear of the car when he was hit by a Chevrolet Impala that also struck the Malibu, the GSP said.

One person died in a crash Wednesday on Interstate 85 just outside of Lexington. The N.C. Highway Patrol responded at 6:22 p.m. to a fatal collision on Interstate 85 northbound, said Trooper Ned Moultrie. Zacorran Gaither, 29, of Catawba, had been driving a 2004 Saturn and attempted to pass other vehicles on the shoulder, Moultrie said. Gaither struck another car that was sitting on the shoulder. He died as a result of the accident.

Illinois State Police are seeking the public’s help in tracking down a hit-and-run driver who killed a 19-year-old woman on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Deja Bowdry was struck by an SUV after stepping out of car in the left shoulder near Garfield Boulevard, state police said. The crash happened about 5 a.m. July 5 in the southbound local lanes after Bowdry pulled into the left shoulder for mechanical issues, state police said.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A woman suffered serious injuries in an early morning hit and run crash in Davenport. Officers responded around 1:51 a.m. Friday to the intersection of Waverly Road and West 13th Street regarding a traffic crash involving two vehicles. Officers determined a green Honda Accord was traveling north on Waverly Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck an unoccupied vehicle on the shoulder.

Robert Taylor, a 55-year-old Charlotte sanitation worker, died after he was injured in a car crash around noon on Monday. Authorities said Taylor was working on his collection route when was fatally hit. His wife, Tammy Taylor, described him as a diligent provider who never missed the chance to work extra days and helped raised her three children as well as his own daughter and several grandchildren. “He loved that job,” she said.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - An Iowa City woman is recovering after she said she was hit by a semi-truck while stranded on the side of Interstate 80 Saturday. After having car troubles shortly after getting onto the highway, Alisha Perdomo-Molina said she pulled onto the shoulder. Soon after, she and her vehicle were struck by a semi. She told KCRG-TV9 that she feels lucky to be alive. “I can’t walk straight, I have a hard time going to the restroom, I can’t even sit up straight, I can’t even be in a car that long,” Perdomo-Molina said.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 35-year-old Orlando woman was killed and two others were injured late Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash that sent a car flying off Interstate 4 in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal wreck occurred around 11 p.m. on I-4 west near Sand Lake Road.The FHP said a 25-year-old Orlando man was driving a car west when he struck the back of the car in front of him, which was driven by the 35-year-old woman, who had slowed down to assist the driver of a disabled sport utility vehicle that was on the shoulder of I-4.

Fulton, N.Y. — A 25-year-old Fulton man was injured Monday night when his pickup truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder of County Route 14. According to State Police, Alexander J. Fatcheric was driving a 2014 Ford pickup truck north on County Route 14 at about 6:56 p.m. when he hit a legally parked semi on the roadway. Fatcheric was transported to Upstate University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is continuing.
