Good Samaritan hit by car while helping motorcyclist hurt in crash at I-10 by Buckeye Road
A woman who stopped to help a motorcyclist injured in a crash in Phoenix on Monday was hit by a car in the process, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The incident involved a motorcycle, semi-truck and two cars on Interstate 10 near Buckeye Road, said department spokesperson Bart Graves. The man driving the motorcycle was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, said Graves. A woman — who Graves described as a Good Samaritan — was believed to have been hit by a Toyota passenger car after it was hit by a semi, said Graves.

CROSS LAKE, Maine — Multiple car crashes near the Cross Lake area, including a five-car pileup near Cross Lake, as well as poor weather conditions resulted in a temporary closure along Route 161, according to state police. At around 12:25 on Saturday, March 14, the first 911 call reporting an accident in the area was made to the Houlton Regional Communications Center. Within minutes, several more cars crashed in the area, creating a pileup of five cars after three separate accidents.

OREM, Utah — Two men were transported to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while changing a tire on I-15 in Orem Friday night. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a vehicle traveling northbound on I-15 near University Parkway got a flat tire. Two separate civilians stopped to help that vehicle. One was helping with the tire, and the other was helping to direct traffic. An additional vehicle stuck the two men who where changing the tire.

SAN JOSE — A 23-year-old man who was killed after getting out of his car on Highway 101 early Saturday morning has been identified. San Jose resident Olman Aparicio Ayala, 23, was driving his 1997 Acura northbound near Interstate 880 when he got into a single-car crash around 5:40 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol. Aparicio Ayala got out of his car and stood on the roadway, CHP said — at which point he was struck by two different cars, including a 2014 Dodge and a 2019 Chevy.

SARASOTA, Fla. — Update: Florida Highway Patrol has identified the people killed in the crash. Joseph Lydic, 50, of Sarasota, was driving the cement truck. Joseph Pontillo, 24, of Sarasota, was driving a Dodge Dakota. Jose Leal, 56, of Cape Coral, was one of the men changing a flat tire. Mario Mendoza, 53, of Cape Coral, is in critical condition. He was the other man changing a tire.

SPRINGFIELD, Wis. (WMTV) – A good Samaritan was struck by a vehicle after stopping to help someone push their car to the side of the road, the Dane Co. Sheriff’s Office said. The man, who was identified as Jeremy Brenner, reportedly stopped at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 at Baltes Road, in Springfield, to help the other driver. Investigators say the 39-year-old, of Lone Rock, was pushing the Subaru Forester when he was struck by an eastbound 2006 Chevrolet Impala.

One person is dead and two others are recovering after a deadly crash on Interstate 40 near Pennsylvania Avenue Saturday night. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers said 52-year-old Elizabeth Copeland was traveling westbound on I-40 when she hit the center barrier and stopped in the inside lane of the highway. A second vehicle then crashed into the first car. Copeland was pronounced dead at the scene, Troopers said. Two passengers were taken to OU Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - A woman who authorities say stopped to help an injured deer on a South Carolina road was struck and killed by a vehicle. Andrea Leigh Owens, 39, was with her husband in Anderson County early Sunday when they stopped their car to help the deer that had been hit and hurt, news outlets reported, citing a coroner’s office news release. Another vehicle struck Owens while she was rendering aid to the animal, Anderson County Deputy Coroner Brent Simpson said.

FLORENCE, Ky. (FOX19) - Several Good Samaritans stopped at the scene of a fatal crash on I-75 early Monday, helping police rescue a girl and comforting the crash’s victims as well as its self-confessed culprit. The crash happened around 8:35 a.m. Police say a tractor-trailer and utility pick-up stopped on the right shoulder of I-75 South in Florence after they were involved in a minor crash. While the two drivers were standing outside on the shoulder, a tractor-trailer traveling crashed into them.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a Toyota 4Runner was traveling south on U.S. 301 about 6:45 p.m. Feb. 27 when it hit two horses standing in the southbound lanes of the highway. The horses died from their injuries. Nault was driving her Hyundai Genesis behind the Toyota and saw the crash. She stopped to help, got out of her car and started to walk over to the other driver. But at the same moment, troopers said, a red Kia Forte that was also headed south on U.
