No Injuries in Linn County Collision
Linn County area responders were called to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Highways 13 and 30 Thursday evening. Upon arriving, they found that a truck traveling westbound had struck a car that was disabled on the north side of the highway, pushing it into the ditch where it then caught fire. The occupant of the car was standing near the vehicle when it was struck but was uninjured.

WESTAMPTON - When a car broke down on the New Jersey Turnpike here, its occupants’ troubles were just beginning, authorities say. A Gloucester County man who walked away from the disabled vehicle was hit by a truck on the southbound highway, according to New Jersey State Police. Mark McCarrie, 34, of Logan, and two passengers who likewise left the car also were charged with drug offenses, according to New Jersey State Police.

The Illinois State Police has released information regarding four crashes that occurred on Interstate 80 just west of Brisbin Road on May 22nd. ISP officials say they responded to a traffic crash at the aforementioned location at 10:07 p.m. A White Toyota Paseo was traveling on Interstate 80 westbound in the left lane. A White Toyota Prius was traveling in the same direction in the right lane. The driver of the Paseo crossed over the lane markings and struck the left rear driver side of the Prius, which ended up in the ditch.

Crashes involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County early Thursday morning have left two dead, according to Virginia State Police. Police responded to the incidents on northbound I-81 at mile marker 167, at Buchanan, at 2:17 a.m., according to a news release. The initial wreck occurred at about 2:13 a.m. when a 2013 Volvo tractor-trailer ran off the left side of the roadway and hit the guardrail, causing the truck to overturn onto its side and block the road, according to Sgt.

An 11-year-old boy has died and two others were injured when a vehicle crashed into their disabled car on the outbound Parkway East/Interstate 376, shutting down the highway for nearly four hours Thursday morning. The crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. just beyond the Squirrel Hill Tunnel, closing the Parkway eastbound between the Squirrel Hill and Edgewood exits, according to Pennsylvania State Police. “There were two vehicles, with three people in the first vehicle and one in the other vehicle,” state police Trooper Melinda Bondarenka said.

A woman was killed Thursday when she was hit by a car after she got out of her possibly disabled car on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina, authorities said. The 26-year-old El Monte woman was injured about 4:30 a.m. west of Azusa Avenue and died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. Her name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives. According to the CHP, the woman was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry when she “exited her vehicle within the traffic lanes when the Toyota was possibly experiencing mechanical issues.

On Tuesday, the family’s vehicle was pulled over on the shoulder with its hazard lights flashing, and when Brian was about to place Knox in his car seat, another driver hit them.

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Dorchester County coroner said at least one person died in two-vehicle crash near the Colleton County line involving a vehicle in the water. The coroner identified the deceased as 56-year-old Jeffrey Allen Collins of Walterboro. The crash happened on Highway 17A near Sandpit Drive, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Lt. Rick Carson said. The crash involved an SUV and an 18-wheeler. Highway Patrol officials said the tractor trailer and SUV were both heading northbound when the SUV left the roadway to make a U-turn.

A 22-year-old man, who was not involved in the accident, stopped to help remove debris from the road. A car traveling eastbound on 12th Street struck the man, and he was transported to McKay-Dee in critical condition. The man, later identified as 22-year-old John Kratzer, died from his injuries, FOX 13 learned through a GoFundMe page and confirmed through the Ogden Police Department.

Arif Memon, 58, a well-known DJ for 106.1 HUMFM, was described as being passionate, caring and positive. According to HPD, the driver of a disabled red Freightliner tractor-trailer had stopped completely in the left shoulder of the Southwest Freeway and placed multiple warning signs along the yellow solid line between the left shoulder and the nearest lane of traffic.
