1 dead in after cars hit broken-down vehicle along I-96 in Detroit
DETROIT (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police say one person died after a fiery crash on I-96 in Detroit on Monday evening. According to police, a vehicle had broken down in a lane of travel along eastbound I-96 at Warren just before 6:30 p.m. Moments later, police say a vehicle struck the broken down car, and then a third vehicle hit the second. The first car that was broken down caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames when troopers arrived.

The drivers of a semi truck and a second vehicle were taken to Southdale Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a crash Tuesday morning in Edina. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened just before 6 a.m. Officials said the semi was traveling south on Highway 100 near Benton Avenue when it hit a Buick Lacrosse on the road’s right shoulder. The semi swerved, and went up the highway’s embankment.

Livingston County, Mich. — A 41-year-old Milford resident was struck and killed by a truck on US-23 south of Clyde Road in Hartland Township after his car broke down today. Deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a semi-tractor and trailer incident involving the 41-year-old Milford individual at 11:26 a.m. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian exited his vehicle and was struck by a 2005 Kenworth semi-tractor and trailer in the southbound lane of travel.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A Pleasantville man died after his motorcycle hit a car disabled on the roadway. Brian Lewis, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two cars crashed at milepost 55.2 westbound at 2:02 a.m. Sunday. Shortly after, Lewis’s motorcycle hit one of the vehicles. Before Lewis arrived, another Pleasantville resident parked a Volkswagen Jetta on the shoulder, activating the hazard lights. An Egg Harbor Township resident driving a Kia Sportage left the road for an unknown reason and struck the Volkswagen, police said.

Three people were killed in two separate accidents Monday during intense storms in Boone County. Two people were killed in a multi-car pileup on Interstate 275 on Monday morning near the Indiana-Kentucky border.It happened around 8:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate at the 13.4-mile marker, near the Carroll Cropper Bridge. According to officials with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, it started as a single-vehicle accident involving a Chevrolet Camaro.

A man died and two others were injured Monday after a two-vehicle accident on Interstate-64 in Hampton, according to a news release from Virginia State Police. Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said in the news release that a man was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus with a female passenger on I-64 when the vehicle broke down. The vehicle was disabled on the right shoulder, west of the Hampton Roads Center Parkway.

A preliminary investigation found that the woman was a passenger of a vehicle that was having mechanical issues and the driver of the vehicle pulled over to the left shoulder and partially into the left lane and as she got out of the vehicle, she was struck by a passing vehicle. A 19-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle Sunday on Interstate 94 near Englewood on the South Side, according to preliminary information from Illinois State police.

ALPINE, N.J. (AP) — A Brooklyn man who apparently got out of his minivan because he thought he had hit an animal was struck and killed by a car on a parkway linking New York and New Jersey, police said. The 41-year-old man was hit Thursday on the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, New Jersey, just before the New York state line.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Public Safety is providing information on a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Thursday morning. According to the report from DPS, 33-year-old Glenn Mark Shirley was transferring items to a waiting vehicle from his 2007 Chevy Silverado that had broken down on the shoulder of eastbound highway 114, about two miles from Opdyke West. The report states Shirley stepped into the roadway and was struck by a 2003 Ford F350 pickup truck.

Two pedestrians who were standing on the right shoulder of the Interstate 215 Freeway died after being struck by a vehicle on June 30, according to the California Highway Patrol. At about 11:45 p.m., a 22-year-old Ontario man driving a 2013 White Ford E350 box truck was traveling on I-215 southbound, south of Palm Avenue in San Bernardino. At the same time, the pedestrians were standing outside two parked vehicles on I-215.
