Driver killed on I-69 after crashing into vehicle that hit deer
Police said that a vehicle was disabled on the road after hitting a deer. The two people inside were able to get out and walk off of the expressway. Another southbound vehicle then crashed into the back of their vehicle. The second vehicle then left the road, hit a ditch and a tree. Rescuers performed CPR but the driver, alone in the vehicle, died at the hospital.

Watson said the law was updated to include any stationary vehicle with flashing lights. That includes tow trucks, IDOT vehicles, or any other type of stopped vehicle on the side of the roadway, including stranded motorists with activated hazard lights.

Around 6:45 p.m. Monday, emergency personnel was called to the ramp from I-65 northbound to I-465 eastbound in response to a pedestrian struck. They arrived to find a critically injured 59-year-old Centerville man lying in the road. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators believe the man pulled his vehicle over to the road’s shoulder for a possible tire issue. When he got out to check on the problem, the man was struck by a passing vehicle.

According to authorities, a Chevrolet sedan became disabled and pulled over to the shoulder of the highway. A short time later, a Nissan Maxima driven by 21-year-old Darrion Talley crossed over several lanes of traffic and struck the disabled vehicle. Talley was ejected from the car, and was pronounced dead at the scene

On Dec. 9 at approximately 4 p.m., Joanna Stewart, of Paducah was operating a 2000 Chevrolet truck on I-24 eastbound crossing the I-24 Ohio River bridge. For an unknown reason, Stewart’s vehicle stopped working, and she coasted to a stop approximately three fourths of the way across the bridge into Kentucky. As Stewart’s vehicle came to a stop, Matthew Beddall of Lebanon, Tennessee, operating a 2020 Freightliner semi-truck and enclosed trailer, was approaching in the same lane behind Stewart’s disabled vehicle.

Jesse Miller, 31, died Tuesday after his van struck the back of a disabled semi-truck on Interstate 35, causing a chain reaction of collisions, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The wreck, which involved seven vehicles, was reported in the northbound lanes of the interstate, south of the 67th Street exit in Merriam. Two other drivers were seriously injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says an Edgerton man was killed after his van struck the back of a disabled semi-truck, causing a chain reaction of collisions Tuesday morning on Interstate 35. The wreck, which involved seven vehicles, was reported about 10:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-35, south of the 67th Street exit in Merriam.

The van was rear ended by a car that was in the lef The driver of the car said that all of a sudden traffic ahead of them stopped and they darted over to the shoulder, but didn’t know that the van was stopped there.

A 57-year-old man is recovering after being hit by a car as he was trying to help another driver who was in a ditch. “Initial investigation determined that Scott Quist, 57 of Wasilla, was out of his vehicle assisting motorist that was in the ditch when a 2002 green Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Virginia Fagerstrom, 48 of Wasilla, struck Quist,” troopers wrote.
