19 Year Old Woman Dies in I-10 Crash Near Lafayette
19-year-old Ryan Alasia Johnson of Kentwood is dead after a fatal crash Wednesday evening on I-10 East about three miles east of Louisiana Avenue. According to a press release from Louisiana State Police Trooper Thomas Gossen, it all started when 41-year-old Carol Ann Brooks of Breaux Bridge needed to pull over because of a flat tire. Gossen says she was stopped on the inside eastbound lane of I-10 inside the construction zone.

Tragically, Ruiz lost his father at the age of eight years old. His father, who was also named Cesar, was hit by a car on the side of a South New Jersey highway after he pulled over to help another drive fix a flat tire. Ruiz started playing football at the age of 10 to cope with the loss. Ruiz didn’t think he was going to be the 24th pick originally, but got the call from the Saints with about two minutes left on the clock.

OPELIKA, Ala. (WSFA) - A father and his daughter were killed in a multiple-vehicle accident in Opelika Thursday, according to Lee County Coroner Bill Harris. Harris said 16-year-old Abbey Darnell and her father, 49-year-old David Darnell, died instantly when the vehicle they were in was hit from behind on Interstate 85 southbound near the 63 mile marker. Harris said it appears the father had pulled off the side of the interstate to check on his daughters vehicle, which had been stranded earlier from a flat tire.

LONGWOOD, Fla. – A driver who stopped his vehicle in the road for an unknown reason was fatally struck by a passing vehicle Thursday afternoon, according to the Longwood Police Department. Police said the man was driving on State Road 434 near Palm Springs Drive around 4:30 p.m. when he stopped his vehicle in the eastbound lanes. The victim was standing near his trunk when he was struck, the news release said.

ATLANTA — Authorities said they have arrested a driver who hit and killed two people on the Downtown Connector early Monday morning. Triple Team Traffic’s Mark Arum said the incident happened before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Edgewood Avenue, north of Interstate 20 in downtown Atlanta. Police said two people had gotten out of their car after an accident when they were hit by another car. That car then left the scene, police said.

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A good Samaritan driver was critically injured Sunday when stopping to help a dog that was running loose on I-96 in Detroit. Now police are looking for the driver who fled the scene after hitting the victim. The incident happened around 3:40 p.m. on westbound I-96 at Livernois. The driver, a 27-year-old man from Livonia, stopped and attempted to save the dog. The dog was then hit by a vehicle, and another vehicle struck the good Samaritan, according to preliminary information from Michigan State Police.

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) — A man is dead after he was hit while walking outside of his car Saturday night. Deputies responded near the intersection of William Street Road and County Line Road in far eastern Macon County just before midnight. They said the victim left his vehicle after it become disabled on the side of the road. The sheriff’s office then said the man walked into the street and was hit by a passing vehicle.

MOUNTAIN PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) –For the second time this week, a Las Vegas resident has been struck and killed after exiting from a disabled vehicle on the I-15 freeway. The latest incident happened on Friday, April 17, 2020, at about 8:22 pm, when a 911 call was received reporting a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the southbound 15 just north of Nipton Road near Mountain Pass. Emergency crews responded to find Lateishia Atkinson, a 32-year-old resident of Las Vegas with multiple injuries.

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) – An Anderson woman was seriously injured Friday night in a two vehicle crash on Interstate 69. State Police say Ryanne Brashear, 27, of Anderson, was driving south on I-69 near Pendleton when she apparently lost control and hit the guardrail on the left side of the highway just after 11:35 p.m. Her Honda Civic spun and stopped in the center lane of I-69. A semi trailer driven by Devontae Lapsley, 26, of Indianapolis, was also south bound in the center lane with cars in each of the lanes beside his truck, according to police.

One woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a collision Thursday evening in the 3800-block of Highway 99. Emergency crews responded to the highway, south of King George Boulevard, just before 6 p.m. April 16. According to a witness at the scene, a large pickup truck appeared to have rear-ended a sedan that was possibly broken down at the side of the road. Both vehicles collided with the centre median cable barrier preventing them from going into oncoming traffic.
