Woman hit and thrown off I-69 Eastex Freeway overpass after car breaks down, police say
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A woman is in critical condition after falling off an overpass in northeast Houston. Two other people, including a Houston police officer, were also hurt, according to authorities. It happened on the I-69 Eastex Freeway near Laura Koppe Road around 9 p.m. Sunday. Houston police said it all started when the young woman’s car broke down in one of the southbound lanes of I-69. Police said she turned her hazard lights on and got out of her car to call for a tow truck.

Amite – On October 6, 2024, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 55 near LA Hwy 16 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of 29-year-old Cierra Porche of Hammond. The initial investigation showed that two separate crashes occurred in the same general location along Interstate 55 northbound, only minutes apart. The first crash involved a 2007 Saturn Vue, driven by Porche.

GENESEE, Idaho — More than 60 vehicles were involved in a pileup on Friday around 2:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 95 south of Genesee. The Idaho State Police (ISP) says strong winds created hazardous driving conditions with low visibility and caused a series of crashes on southbound US 95. The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Transportation Department worked with ISP to close the highway and conduct crash investigations.

Negligent driving caused a seven-vehicle collision that blocked traffic on northbound Interstate 5 in Tumwater on Wednesday, Washington State Patrol says. The collision occurred about 9:35 a.m., just south of milepost 103, which is near Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls, according to a WSP press memo. Troopers initially blocked the entire northbound lanes of the freeway and later allowed a single lane to open as they investigated the scene. First responders treated two people with injuries: a 61-year-old Tenino man who was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and 62-year-old Chehalis man who was transported to Providence St.

CHICAGO (CBS) — One person was killed after a crash Wednesday morning on the Tri-State Tollway by the Hinsdale Oasis. Illinois State Police said just before 4:30 a.m., troopers responded to I-294 southbound at milepost 25 for a two-vehicle crash. A passenger vehicle was disabled in the third lane of traffic and was struck by a truck tractor semi-trailer. A pedestrian outside of the disabled vehicle was also struck and died at the scene.

Wharton, TX — September 6, 2024, Bruce Edwards was killed and Jamaal Edwards was injured after a semi-truck accident at around 11:10 p.m. along U.S. 59. According to initial details about the accident, it happened along U.S. Highway 59 in the area of F.M. 1161. Investigators said that 73-year-old Bruce Edwards and 36-year-old Jamaal Edwards were outside of a semi-truck disabled along the shoulder of the highway. While there, an approaching Freightliner truck somehow drifted to the right, then crashed into the side of the disabled semi, hitting Bruce and Jamaal Edwards.

Syracuse, N.Y. – Seven vehicles crashed on Interstate 690 in Syracuse Sunday night after a driver slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a disabled car, police said. Around 7:41 p.m., a 2022 Toyota was driving east on I-690 when the driver tried to avoid crashing into the disabled vehicle on the side of the highway, Kieran Coffey, a city police spokesperson, said Monday. The crash happened between the Interstate 81 interchange and Exit 14 (Teall Avenue).

FORT LEE — One person was killed and a toddler injured when a car crashed into the back of a disabled tractor-trailer on Route 95 near the George Washington Bridge Sunday night, according to police. New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said the driver in a Toyota Camry was headed north in the express lanes near Exit 72 just after 9 p.m. when he hit the tractor-trailer in the right lane.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A motorcyclist was killed Monday in a crash near Otay Mesa, authorities said. The collision occurred around 4:40 a.m. on Enrico Fermi Drive northbound, located north of Otay Mesa Road, Salvador Castro with the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. A 20-year-old Chula Vista man was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when for unknown reasons the rider struck a yellow box truck that was disabled and parked along the east curb, according to authorities.
