Trucker fatally hit on I-78 near Lehigh County; driver left scene, police say
A trucker who was hit by a passing vehicle along Interstate 78 near Lehigh County has died, police said late Friday. Jymel D. Smith, 49, of Clermont, Florida, stopped his tractor-trailer on the right shoulder of I-78 westbound shortly before 5 p.m. Friday near mile marker 41.5 in Greenwich Township, Berks County, state police at Hamburg said. He was then hit by a passing motorist who failed to stop or notify law enforcement, police said.

CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas — A cow on the highway triggered a multi-vehicle crash early Friday morning on State Highway 130 in southern Caldwell County, causing significant traffic disruptions that persisted throughout the day. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that at approximately 4:10 a.m., a tractor tractor with a refrigerant trailer struck the cow near mile marker 481, becoming disabled on the right shoulder. A second tractor trailer, a car hauler, then collided with the disabled vehicle before flipping into the median and catching fire.

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police are investigating after a two-vehicle crash that occurred August 21 on Route 29 near Thomas Nelson Highway killed a woman from Milford. VSP says around 2:14 p.m. on Wednesday, 86-year-old Marette L. Legeer of Milford was driving south on Route 29 in a 2010 Ford Escape near Jackson Lane. Legeer stopped her vehicle to speak with VDOT employees in the median when a 2009 Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old man from Lynchburg hit her from behind.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, (August 11, 2024) - A good Samaritan suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident Aug. 11 in Fort Lauderdale. According to authorities, Yevhenii Arsirii was on his way home when he saw someone pushing a truck along Northwest 6th Street. Arsirii got out to help push the vehicle, which had run out of gas, when he was struck by another vehicle. Arsirii’s right leg has been amputated as doctors work to save his left leg.

KAYSVILLE — One person died early Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Davis County. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on state Route 177 near 200 North in Kaysville around 1:30 a.m. A Chevy truck was traveling northbound when it began to leave the highway and moved over to the right shoulder. While on the shoulder, the driver swerved back into the lanes of traffic. The driver then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, which caused it to roll.

OXFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — An early morning crash shuts down a part of a major highway in Oxford, state troopers say. According to N.C. State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a call that a tractor-trailer hit an immobile car that was stuck on I-85 near exit 204. The car was unable to move because it hit a guardrail and bounced off of the shoulder just before the tractor-trailer collided with it on the highway, troopers say.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A fatal accident on Interstate 95 at Mile Marker 299 late Saturday night claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). According to FHP, the incident occurred around 10:21 p.m. after the woman’s sedan was involved in an earlier crash and relocated to the right shoulder of the highway. As she exited her vehicle to speak with another driver involved in the initial collision, she was reportedly struck by two southbound vehicles.

KPD said that based on their investigation, it is believed that two vehicles travelling east on I-40 were involved in a rear-end crash.

AUBURN — One driver was taken to an area hospital with multiple injuries following a two-vehicle crash just before 10 p.m. Sunday near the 322 mile marker on Interstate 69 northbound, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office reported. Arthur Stevenson Jr., 69, of Louisville, Kentucky was found by police laying on the ground in the driving lane of the interstate. Deputies shut down the interstate while Stevenson was being treated by EMS personnel.
