Car crashes and flips in Southeast DC, man hit by another car while trying to help
WASHINGTON — A driver is dead and another is facing charges after a person who witnessed a car crash was hit by another car while trying to help. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the events unfolded early Sunday morning in the 5200 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast. Investigators say a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu struck several cars before flipping and landing on its roof just after 3:30 a.m. A man and woman walking in the area witnessed the crash and went to help the two women inside the car.

A Herington man was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita Wednesday morning following an injury accident on westbound Interstate 70 in Dickinson County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Koy E. Mueller of Herington, 19, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze which was stopped in the right lane of the roadway when it was rear-ended by a 2023 International semi-tractor trailer driven by Travis P. Williams, 32, of Wellington, Kan.

TROY, Texas (KXXV) — There is a lawsuit against one of the largest trucking companies in the nation, J.B. Hunt, after one of their drivers crashes into a disabled vehicle, killing that vehicle’s driver. 25 News spoke to the lawyer who sent a video that shows the truck driver on his cell phone at the moment of impact. This is video from May 22 just before 5 a.m. on I-35 northbound in Troy.

HOPKINS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was hit by a vehicle on the Pennyrile Parkway. Deputies say it happened northbound at the 29-mile marker, just north of the Christian County and Hopkins County line. According to the sheriff’s office, dispatchers received a 911 call at 3:41 p.m. with the caller saying a male had been hit by a passing vehicle. On Tuesday morning, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that man was 59-year-old Dewey Huff Jr.

ERIE, Mich. — Traffic on I-75 in Monroe County was halted Sunday morning after a vehicle crashed in the southbound lanes. According to the Ann Arbor post of the Michigan Department of Transportation, the crash happened at 12:21 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, causing the freeway to completely close near Exit 6 Luna Pier Road. In a press statement, the Monroe County Sheriff said that an 18-year-old woman from Holland, Ohio was driving a green Nissan Altima south in the right lane on I-75 north of Erie Road through the Luna Pier construction zone when she struck an unoccupied black Ford Escape.

HOUSTON – Police say an Uber driver died early Sunday morning after he was checking on his vehicle and another driver crashed into the back of his car. It happened just before 4 a.m. when investigators say the unidentified driver was with a passenger/customer on I-10 East Freeway toward the Kress exit. The driver stopped his vehicle to see what was wrong with his car after he suspected hitting something on the freeway’s shoulder.

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - A driver is dead after rear-ending a box truck on I-80 in Lake County early Saturday morning, according to Indiana State Police. The crash happened at 2:30 a.m. on I-80/94 eastbound near the 8-mile marker, between Burr and Grant Street. A 2024 Honda Civic was heading eastbound on the interstate when it left the roadway and rear-ended a stopped box truck at a high rate of speed, according to Indiana State Police.

A teenager was killed when he tried to help a crash victim on Interstate 35 on Saturday morning, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report. Just before 2 a.m. Saturday, Benjamin D. Van Buskirk, 17, of Olathe was hit by a Jeep Liberty after Buskirk had gotten out of a car on I-35 south just north of Johnson Drive in Merriam. A Chevrolet Equinox was stalled in the left lane of traffic, according to KHP.

(KRON) — A person was found dead after officials found a car submerged underwater off a Highway 37 cliff by Skaggs Island in Solano County on Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. At about 6:30 a.m., a CHP officer was patrolling Highway 37 eastbound on Skaggs Island Road when they noticed a car flipped upside down floating atop the water, with oil and car fluids seen surrounding it. CHP said the crash brought some power lines down.
