4 dead, including two 9-year-old girls, after semi hits stopped vehicles in northern Minnesota construction zone
FLOODWOOD, Minn. — Four people, including two 9-year-old girls, are dead after a semi hit three cars and another semi in a construction zone in northern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon. According to the state patrol, a semi was going at “highway speeds” and hit the other vehicles, which were stopped due to construction. The crash happened around 3 p.m. on Highway 2 near Nelson Road in Floodwood. Four people in a Honda Pilot were killed — 9-year-olds Hope Mae Oakgrove and Charlotte White, 66-year-old Bonnie Mae Dow and 65-year-old Vincent Louis Dow.

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A chain-reaction crash involving six vehicles on State Road 15 sent two of the drivers to the hospital Tuesday afternoon. A 28-year-old was driving a car on SR 15 south of Warsaw when for an unknown reason he crossed the center line, hitting two trucks, according to a release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. The driver of an oncoming semi tried to avoid the crash but hit one of the trucks.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – An adult man has died after being sideswiped by a passing vehicle while he was trying to get into a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 101 east of Gaviota Thursday. Despite the best efforts by bystanders, including a cardiologist and two electrical linemen with an automated external defibrillator (AED) device, the man was pronounced dead at the scene shared the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s investigation continues after a man was struck and killed after changing a tire along the shoulder of westbound Interstate 44 in downtown St. Louis near the Dome at America’s Center. A spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the man had just finished changing the tire on his gray Chevrolet HHR around 7 p.m. Wednesday. A white GMC Terrain was parked behind the victim’s HHR.

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — A person is dead and another is seriously injured after a crash in Allegan County early Wednesday morning, the Sheriff’s Office says. It happened around 6:11 a.m. on southbound US-131 near the 48 mile marker in Gun Plain Township. Police say a pickup truck heading southbound hit an SUV that was disabled on the shoulder of the road. Two people were outside the car working on it when the truck hit them.

A Kennewick woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car while trying to change a tire along the side of a Tri-Cities highway on Wednesday. Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Thorson told the Tri-City Herald that two cars were pulled over along the Pasco-bound lanes of Interstate 182 in Richland near the Columbia River bridge when a third car smashed into them. The first car, a Hyundai passenger car, pulled over with a flat tire and the driver of a Kia SUV had stopped to help just before 1 p.

(CBS DETROIT) - A 33-year-old Detroit man was killed in a rollover crash on the Lodge Freeway Monday night after striking a vehicle that was partially stopped in the left lane of traffic due to an unrelated crash, state police said. At 9:55 p.m., the Detroit Regional Communications Center was alerted of a rollover crash on the northbound Lodge Freeway near Glendale Avenue. When troopers arrived, they found the 33-year-old man trapped inside the rolled-over vehicle.

According to our Charlotte sister station, WCNC, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the accident happened when the driver, 27-year-old Arlexia Taylor of Winston Salem, stopped her 2014 Kia Optima on the side of the road. When she got out of the car she was hit by a 2017 Chevrolet truck.

MERIDIAN TWP. — A teenager was seriously injured Monday night when he attempted to change a tire on a disabled vehicle that was then struck by another vehicle on Marsh Road, according to township police. Police said in a release they were dispatched to a “vehicle vs pedestrian crash” on Marsh Road, north of Towner Road, at 11:16 p.m. An 18-year-old boy had been “changing a tire on a disabled vehicle in the roadway when his vehicle was struck by a motorist traveling north.
