Family left in shock after being hit by 2 semitrucks on way home from softball game
RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) - A family of four in Virginia says they are lucky to be alive after they were involved in a crash with two semitrucks. Heather Ratcliffe and her three daughters were on the way home from a softball tournament in Connecticut last Saturday afternoon. When they got to the Abingdon area while traveling on Interstate 81, Ratcliffe says their lives flashed before their eyes. “I noticed a tractor-trailer coming southbound had lost control and was starting to come over into the median.

HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) – A deadly crash shut down the westbound lanes of I-90 in northwest Indiana on Thursday. The crash happened around 2:26 a.m. on the Indiana Toll Road between Clen Avenue and Kennedy Avenue. The driver of a grey 2004 Honda was driving westbound when it crashed into the center concrete barrier, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. After the crash the car ended up in the westbound lane, facing north and the driver got out of the car.

The driver of a tractor-trailer died Wednesday after striking a disabled vehicle and a pedestrian who was changing a tire, according to officials. Mark Anthony Bigby, 64, of Anderson died Thursday of thermal burns sustained in the wreck, said Laurens County Chief Deputy Coroner Patti Canupp. Bigby was driving a 2022 Kenworth tractor-trailer westbound Wednesday on Interstate 26. At about 2:30 p.m., as he was near the 55 mile marker, his vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a disabled 2022 Ford pickup truck in the emergency lane, along with a pedestrian who was changing a tire on the truck, said state Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt.

HAMILTON CITY, Calif. — The bodies of two men were found inside a vehicle submerged in the Glenn Colusa Canal on Wednesday. The California Highway Patrol in Willows (CHP) says the vehicle is connected to a recent Silver Alert missing persons case. On Saturday, July 20, the Yuba City Police Department (YCPD) reported two men missing, identified as James Adams, 89, and Ronny Adams, 57. They said both men were considered missing “at-risk” due to medical conditions requiring ongoing treatment.

MILAN, Ohio (WTVG) - A man is dead and his wife was hospitalized from a crash on the Ohio Turnpike in Ottawa County Wednesday, officials said. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened in Ottawa County, near milepost 82 in Harris Township, around 12:40 p.m on July 31. A semi was disabled in the middle lane due to a mechanical problem when a Lincoln SUV rear-ended the semi.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man who Kansas City police say was standing outside of his car following a collision was subsequently hit by another driver and died early Wednesday morning on westbound 210 Highway at North Norfleet. Kansas City police say the driver of a black Hyundai Accent hit a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck that was stopped in traffic before the stoplight at about 5:30 a.m. KCPD says both drivers got out of their vehicles and called 911.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was killed in an accident at Loop 410 on the east side Wednesay morning. Emergency crews were called out to southbound Loop 410 and East Houston Street around 10:42 a.m. Police say a man with a trailor lost his load and pulled off to the side of the highway. While he was trying to recover the lost load, the driver of an 18-wheeler did not see him and ran him over.

WASHINGTON — A driver is dead and another is facing charges after a person who witnessed a car crash was hit by another car while trying to help. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the events unfolded early Sunday morning in the 5200 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast. Investigators say a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu struck several cars before flipping and landing on its roof just after 3:30 a.m. A man and woman walking in the area witnessed the crash and went to help the two women inside the car.

A Herington man was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita Wednesday morning following an injury accident on westbound Interstate 70 in Dickinson County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Koy E. Mueller of Herington, 19, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze which was stopped in the right lane of the roadway when it was rear-ended by a 2023 International semi-tractor trailer driven by Travis P. Williams, 32, of Wellington, Kan.
