FHP: Victim struck and killed on Turnpike in SW Miami-Dade had survived 1st crash
SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A person who had survived a crash on the Florida Turnpike in Southwest Miami-Dade was killed in a second collision, authorities said. Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene of the deadly wreck along the southbound lanes, in the area of Bird Road, Saturday night. According to investigators, a crash had taken place involving a white SUV and a gray sedan. The collision caused both vehicles to become disabled and partially block the left lane, troopers said.

Two teenagers died in a fiery crash on Interstate 270 in Montgomery County on Friday after the car they were riding in was struck by a hit-and-run driver, and then by a second car, the state police said. Luis Isaac Bran, 17, of Gaithersburg, was killed along with Rebeca Gabriela Vasquez Moreno, 18, who was from El Salvador, the state police said. Both were passengers in a 2018 Toyota that was driven by Esperanza Del Carmen Vasquez De Bran, 50, also of Gaithersburg, the police said.

A 19-year-old reported missing after vanishing on her drive home has been found dead near a quarry, Colorado police say. Leslie Elizama Vicente Vicente traveled about 60 miles north of her Aurora home to Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley to attend a religious event Thursday, June 13, the Greeley Police Department said in a June 19 news release. She left the park shortly after 9 p.m., stopped for gas in a neighboring city about 35 minutes later and headed back on Highway 85 in her Nissan SUV, according to police.

One person has died as a result of a crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 66 in Prince William County, according to the Virginia State Police. One person was killed and morning traffic was backed up following a crash involving a semi truck and a wrong-way driver on I-80/94 near the Illinois-Indiana state line early Wednesday. The crash occurred just after 1 a.m. in Indiana near the Calumet Ave. exit, approximately one mile from the Illinois-Indiana state line, Indiana State Police said. A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on I-80/94 when it struck what police called an attenuator in an area near the exit ramp to Calumet Avenue.

METAIRIE, La. (WVUE/Gray News) - Two people are dead after a chain reaction of crashes on an interstate in Metairie, Louisiana. According to Louisiana State Police, the crashes happened Monday shortly after midnight on Interstate 10 west near Bonnabel Boulevard. The first crash involved a 2012 Kia Soul and a 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Kia was left disabled and abandoned in the roadway, state police said. Carlos Martinez, 78, was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla when he hit the disabled Kia.

A 24-year-old New Haven man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 in Branford early Tuesday morning. State police said Josiah Lawrence Steinman was driving a Nissan Sentra on I-95 North and hit a truck that was parked on the shoulder of the highway near the Branford rest area around 3:14 a.m. Steinman died at Yale New Haven Hospital, according to state police. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

A woman is recovering after she crashed her car in Arizona and was stranded for nearly two days. On Saturday morning, deputies with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office were alerted about a crash on Castle Hot Springs Road, about 10 miles north of Arizona’s Lake Pleasant. When YCSO, Morristown Fire, and other emergency crews got to the scene, they located the crash, helped remove a woman, and carried her up to a Department of Public Safety helicopter.
