NEW INFO: Three crashes, six cars involved along Highway 55 in Craven Co. amid dense fog
CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Several drivers were charged after three crashes involving six cars happened in dense fog this morning. The multi-car pile-up occurred on Highway 55 at Sand Hill Road in Craven County around 7 a.m. The Highway Patrol says 50-year-old Timothy Guin, of Greenville, was pulling a boat with his pickup truck and was trying to make a left turn onto Highway 55 from Sand Hill Road when his truck was hit by a vehicle westbound on the main highway.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Authorities have released the identities of four victims killed in a crash along I-75 southbound in Bartow County. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the crash happened before Red Top Mountain Road around 6:15 p.m. According to authorities, a Kia van lost control while traveling northbound. The van reportedly left the road, crossed the grass median, and entered the southbound lanes, colliding with a Chevy Tahoe and a Toyota 4Runner.

SALT LAKE CITY — A family is grieving after their sister was hit and killed while fixing a flat tire on Thursday. The Utah Highway Patrol said 42-year-old Tiffany Smith was heading east near Bangerter Highway when she stopped on the left side of State Route 201, partially blocking traffic in the left lane. As she was out of the car, another vehicle struck her. “As soon as I found out what had happened, I hugged my kids so tight,” said her sister, Lacy Arnold.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A pedestrian on I-59 was killed in a Jefferson County crash Saturday morning, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports. Martin Rodriguez-Ramirez, a 29-year-old from Cullman, was fatally injured when a tractor-trailer struck him on I-59. The crash occurred around 5:15 a.m. about one mile east of Hueytown. Rodriguez-Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. After hitting Rodriguez-Ramirez, the tractor-trailer hit the GMC Acadia that Rodriguez-Ramirez was driving but had crashed into a guardrail.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-car crash happened around 10:07 p.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, a GMC stalled in the No. 3 southbound lane. Subsequently, two drivers who witnessed the vehicle pulled over to the right shoulder to help. However, a BMW traveling in the third lane at an unknown speed struck the stalled vehicle and one of the vehicles that pulled over.

Both directions of Interstate 70 were closed in the western part of the Denver metro area after a crash involving a tanker truck that ignited a fire and one person was killed. Eastbound lanes reopened just before 4:30 p.m. and westbound lanes remained closed. CDOT issued an update Thursday evening that both directions were back open following the lengthy closure. There were miles of traffic backups in both directions late Thursday morning as a result.

An Oregon man was struck Wednesday afternoon by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 205 in Salmon Creek, according to the Washington State Patrol. Jason Rivera Peinado, 18, of Gresham, Ore., was parked about 3:30 p.m. on the shoulder of I-205 south near 134th Street. He got out of the vehicle and stepped into the lane and was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Martin J. Gorton, 60, of Vancouver, according to a State Patrol crash memo.

A young father was killed and another motorist was hospitalized with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in the region. The Rensselaer County wreck happened at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, on State Route 67 in Pittstown. New York State Police said a disabled vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lane after several people moved it from the shoulder, when a motorcycle heading eastbound crashed into it. Matthew Disorda, age 28, of Hoosick Falls, was ejected from the bike and died at the scene, police said.

The two good Samaritans then tried to cross the roadway when they were struck by a silver sedan.
