Update | Tri-Cities woman hit by car while changing a tire along I-182 in Richland
A Kennewick woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car while trying to change a tire along the side of a Tri-Cities highway on Wednesday. Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Thorson told the Tri-City Herald that two cars were pulled over along the Pasco-bound lanes of Interstate 182 in Richland near the Columbia River bridge when a third car smashed into them. The first car, a Hyundai passenger car, pulled over with a flat tire and the driver of a Kia SUV had stopped to help just before 1 p.

(CBS DETROIT) - A 33-year-old Detroit man was killed in a rollover crash on the Lodge Freeway Monday night after striking a vehicle that was partially stopped in the left lane of traffic due to an unrelated crash, state police said. At 9:55 p.m., the Detroit Regional Communications Center was alerted of a rollover crash on the northbound Lodge Freeway near Glendale Avenue. When troopers arrived, they found the 33-year-old man trapped inside the rolled-over vehicle.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A deadly crash involving a Winston-Salem woman shut down part of a highway in Kannapolis on Friday morning. According to our Charlotte sister station, WCNC, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the accident happened when the driver, 27-year-old Arlexia Taylor of Winston Salem, stopped her 2014 Kia Optima on the side of the road. When she got out of the car she was hit by a 2017 Chevrolet truck.

MERIDIAN TWP. — A teenager was seriously injured Monday night when he attempted to change a tire on a disabled vehicle that was then struck by another vehicle on Marsh Road, according to township police. Police said in a release they were dispatched to a “vehicle vs pedestrian crash” on Marsh Road, north of Towner Road, at 11:16 p.m. An 18-year-old boy had been “changing a tire on a disabled vehicle in the roadway when his vehicle was struck by a motorist traveling north.

ALSIP, Ill. (CBS) – The Tri-State Tollway in Alsip was snagged by a multi-vehicle pileup resulting from three different crashes Monday evening. Illinois State Police said at 5:43 p.m., three separate crashes happened near the same area and time on the northbound Tri-State (I-294) just northwest of the Cicero Avenue exit in Alsip. More than a dozen vehicles were involved—including nine that state police described as “commercial motor vehicles.” At least several of these were semi-trailer trucks, including a FedEx truck and an Amazon truck.

BERKELEY, CA (August 5, 2024) — Charles Nelson was hit and killed by a semi-truck on the 80 Freeway near University Avenue. Berkeley Police and firefighters responded to reports of an accident around 3:40 a.m. Thursday. Upon responding, authorities learned that a semi-truck driver believed he had struck a pedestrian on the westbound Interstate 80. Traffic investigators later identified the pedestrian as Nelson, who had pulled over possibly to flag down help.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Eden Prairie police are “actively investigating” the circumstances of an accident Saturday evening on a busy stretch of road that left a pedestrian dead. Officers were dispatched just before 8:45 p.m. to the intersection of Flying Cloud Drive and Anderson Lakes Parkway on reports of a motor vehicle accident. They arrived to find a woman, identified as 25-year-old Holly Chunmei Bergstrom, on the ground critically injured.

A multi-vehicle pileup on the 10 Freeway sent two people to the hospital early Saturday morning. Initial reports indicate that the collision occurred just after 3:15 a.m. on the eastbound span of the 10 near the Crenshaw Avenue exit in L.A.’s West Adams neighborhood. Video posted to the Citizen App shows one vehicle on its roof; two other mangled vehicles were seen on the other side of the road while first responders blocked off the area in the immediate aftermath of the collision.

A stranded driver was struck and killed by a motorcyclist while trying to cross Interstate 95 in Broward early Saturday in an incident that also left the motorcyclist in intensive care, officials said. The incident happened around 3 a.m. on southbound I-95 near Hollywood Boulevard. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 44-year-old man had his SUV stuck in the center lane because of a crash. The man tried to cross from the center to the shoulder when suddenly he was hit by a motorcycle.
