Update: Officials identify man killed in crash on Pennyrile Parkway
HOPKINS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was hit by a vehicle on the Pennyrile Parkway. Deputies say it happened northbound at the 29-mile marker, just north of the Christian County and Hopkins County line. According to the sheriff’s office, dispatchers received a 911 call at 3:41 p.m. with the caller saying a male had been hit by a passing vehicle. On Tuesday morning, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that man was 59-year-old Dewey Huff Jr.

ERIE, Mich. — Traffic on I-75 in Monroe County was halted Sunday morning after a vehicle crashed in the southbound lanes. According to the Ann Arbor post of the Michigan Department of Transportation, the crash happened at 12:21 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, causing the freeway to completely close near Exit 6 Luna Pier Road. In a press statement, the Monroe County Sheriff said that an 18-year-old woman from Holland, Ohio was driving a green Nissan Altima south in the right lane on I-75 north of Erie Road through the Luna Pier construction zone when she struck an unoccupied black Ford Escape.

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - A driver is dead after rear-ending a box truck on I-80 in Lake County early Saturday morning, according to Indiana State Police. The crash happened at 2:30 a.m. on I-80/94 eastbound near the 8-mile marker, between Burr and Grant Street. A 2024 Honda Civic was heading eastbound on the interstate when it left the roadway and rear-ended a stopped box truck at a high rate of speed, according to Indiana State Police.

A teenager was killed when he tried to help a crash victim on Interstate 35 on Saturday morning, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report. Just before 2 a.m. Saturday, Benjamin D. Van Buskirk, 17, of Olathe was hit by a Jeep Liberty after Buskirk had gotten out of a car on I-35 south just north of Johnson Drive in Merriam. A Chevrolet Equinox was stalled in the left lane of traffic, according to KHP.

(KRON) — A person was found dead after officials found a car submerged underwater off a Highway 37 cliff by Skaggs Island in Solano County on Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. At about 6:30 a.m., a CHP officer was patrolling Highway 37 eastbound on Skaggs Island Road when they noticed a car flipped upside down floating atop the water, with oil and car fluids seen surrounding it. CHP said the crash brought some power lines down.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run pile-up that happened when a Good Samaritan came to the aid of a woman who had been thrown from her overturned vehicle on the Ventura (101) Freeway Friday morning. The harrowing series of crashes was caught on tape. It all started shortly after midnight on the southbound 101 near Hayvenhurst in Encino where a woman slammed into a center divider, causing her vehicle to overturn, said California Highway Patrol Officer Cody Sturges.

NEWTOWN — Police are looking for the driver of a blue Chevrolet Silverado involved in a Wednesday evening hit-and-run on Route 302. The incident happened on Sugar Street around 7:05 p.m. July 24, when police say the pickup truck sideswiped an Amazon delivery truck that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway and fled the scene. The blue Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Sugar Street at the time and likely sustained minor damage to its right side view mirror, according to Newtown police, who said there was no information provided about the operator or the vehicle’s license plates.
