Pedestrian fatally injured in crash on I-95 in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Maine — A man from Kennebec County died Friday after he was hit by a truck on Interstate 95 in Augusta. Matthew Galletta, 55, of Manchester was standing in the right lane of I-95 southbound near Mile Marker 111 when he was struck by a pickup truck at about 5:20 a.m., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release. Galletta’s vehicle was parked along the side of I-95, and an investigation is underway to determine why he was out of his vehicle and standing in the lane, Moss said.

PAXTON — A series of collisions involving a passenger vehicle and two semis on northbound Interstate 57 south of Paxton early Friday, Dec. 15, resulted in the driver of the passenger vehicle being taken to a local hospital with what state police said were life-threatening injuries. SCOTT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a 65-year-old woman died Thursday after she was hit by an SUV. According to a preliminary report, Lisa Rosser stopped on the right shoulder of the northbound side of Scott Highway to get her phone, which had fallen off her vehicle into the southbound lane. While crossing the road, THP said she walked into the path of the SUV and was hit.

According to authorities, Ali Safar Navadeh, of Novato, was inside a vehicle that was disabled along the right shoulder on the southbound side of U.S. Highway 101 when another motorist failed to maintain control and crashed into his vehicle at approximately 5 p.m. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures on Navadeh, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

An accident around 5:15 Friday evening on North Main Street road about a quarter mile south of Airport Drive caused injuries to two people. A passenger was standing alongside a crash-disabled car on Interstate 70 early Sunday on the city’s East Side when the vehicle was struck minutes later by a semi-truck, killing him, Columbus police said. The black 2013 Dodge Dart was heading west on I-70 at 12:02 a.m. Sunday when the driver hit a concrete barrier at an exit ramp at Interstate 270, police said. The car spun sideways and was left straddling both main lanes of I-70 with no lights on, police said.

MARTINS FERRY — Traffic was backed up on Ohio 7 at Martins Ferry for about an hour Thursday evening due to an accident involving multiple cars, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
