Michigan woman killed in tractor-trailer crash in Smyth County
SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A Michigan woman was killed in a tractor-trailer crash in Smyth County on November 21, according to Virginia State Police. Police say the crash occurred at 6:10 p.m. on I-81S. 42-year-old Nichole Smith, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was driving south on I-81 when she drove off the left side of I-81 at mile marker 37, continued into the median, hit a guardrail, and flipped. A portion of the tractor-trailer was in the left southbound travel lane.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — A New Jersey woman is dead after a crash in Monroe County. Troopers say 27-year-old Chantalle Cecconi’s car broke down Sunday night in the northbound lanes of Interstate 380 near Tobyhanna. Another driver saw her car and moved into the left lane but Cecconi abruptly ran in front of that vehicle and was hit. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Motorists sit in traffic for hours after a car crash on I-16 early Friday morning. A two-vehicle collision on I-16 between Chatham Parkway and the 516 interchange happened just after midnight Friday. According to people at the scene, a person was changing his tire on the side of the road when another vehicle ran into that one. The initial crash then caused a multi-vehicle pileup. One person called into the WJCL 22 newsroom, saying they had been in standstill traffic for over an hour.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Authorities say one person died after a crash involving 20 vehicles Sunday morning on Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City. The collision happened shortly after 1 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-40 near Reno Avenue. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol told KOCO 5 that a semi-trailer left the road and went into a nearby river. A dive team searched the water and eventually pulled out a body. Information about the person who died or what caused the crash has not been released.

YOUNG COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — A woman reported missing by her son since Nov. 18 was found dead a week later on Nov. 25. Dona Chambers (60) of Manor, Texas, was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries sustained in a crash. Officials believe the crash occurred earlier in the week and that Chambers had been at the scene for a while. Chambers was driving a 2022 Buick Encore and was traveling North on State Highway-16.

The Colorado State Patrol told travelers to expect a lengthy closure of Interstate 70’s westbound lanes Thursday evening as icy conditions developed on the roads and caused several crashes. The primary crash happened around 7:15 p.m. and involved eight vehicles. It started as a semi hauling milk tried to avoid a car that spun out. The truck “jack-knifed” and came to rest across all lanes of traffic with its trailer stuck on the guardrail.

Salina, N.Y. — A 49-year-old man died early Thursday after being hit by a car on Interstate 81 northbound near an overpass above the Northern Lights Plaza. Shortly after midnight, a 911 caller reported that a car hit a pedestrian on I-81 northbound near Exit 26 toward Mattydale, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. The man had gotten out of a car on the highway after getting involved in a minor crash with another car, deputies said.

DANVILLE, WV (WOWK) — A woman is dead following a chain-reaction crash involving a deer Monday night, according to Boone County Sheriff Chad Barker. It happened around 8:15 p.m. in Danville near Hopkins Road and the intersection of Corridor G. Sheriff Chad Barker tells Nexstar’s WOWK that the driver hit a deer and her vehicle was stopped on the road. During that time, another driver hit her car; she got out of the car to assess the damage and that is when she was hit by another vehicle.

INDIANAPOLIS — A truck driver was hit and killed on 465 westbound Monday. ISP Sgt said the accident happened near the off-ramp from Allisonville Road. State Police Sergeant John Perrine says a semi, lost a wheel, leading to a subsequent car hitting the wheel, which became trapped underneath. “A semi had lost a wheel; the entire front came off and was in the travel lane,” said Perrine. “That semi pulled into the gore point of the ramp, between the main line and the ramp, out of the roadway.

The California Highway Patrol said dispatchers received a call at 10:46 p.m. Sunday about a non-injury crash involving two vehicles on southbound Highway 13 south of Joaquin Miller Road/Lincoln Avenue. The crash involved a white Toyota “Zip Car” rental and a black sedan.
