Sacramento woman killed in two-vehicle crash on Highway 99
STOCKTON, Calif. — A Sacramento woman died Sunday night after hitting the center median and being rear-ended by another vehicle on Highway 99. According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on southbound Highway 99 near State Route 120. CHP says a 30-year-old woman from Sacramento was driving a Chevy Malibu south on 99 when she went into the center median and collided with the concrete divider wall.

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — One person was killed in a crash involving three vehicles on I-15 in northern Utah Friday night. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a Honda Civic was stationary in the median on northbound I-15 at milepost 352, right near the Box Elder-Weber county line. The car had been disabled in a previous crash, but details on that crash were not available. The driver of a Mercedes SUV stopped to help.

NORTH PORT, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a driver who struck a man standing next to a disabled vehicle on I-75. The crash happened around 7:00 p.m. near Exit 193, Jacaranda Blvd., on New Year’s Eve. Zachary Edmonds said his girlfriend ran out of gasoline on her way to work. He brought her gas can and was filling up her car when he was struck by a vehicle.

A 52-year-old Port Orange man died when he crashed into a disabled vehicle Friday morning on I-95 in St. Johns County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal wreck happened around 10:30 a.m. on I-95 north at mile marker 321. The FHP said the man was driving a car north on I-95 in the left shoulder/emergency lane and struck the back of a disabled vehicle that was unoccupied. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. — Former Paradise Valley police chief John Wintersteen, 78, and another man were killed over the weekend in a pedestrian crash while trying to help his dog, 12News has learned. Wintersteen was a Marine Corps veteran and career law enforcement official. The Paradise Valley Police Department said the incident happened on Sunday near 46th Street and Lincoln Drive. According to early reports, the dog was initially hit by 47-year-old Nooraly Lalji who stopped his car and got out to help.

San Antonio, Texas – A Good Samaritan was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday night while helping another motorist with a flat tire in San Antonio’s Westside, according to the police. The deadly accident happened around 11:20 p.m., January 6, near the 6900 block of Northwest Loop 410 Access Road. Police said the 40-year-old man was outside his Ford Explorer getting the car jack from the truck bed to help someone else with a flat tire while his hazard lights were activated.

A Lawton woman was hospitalized following a single-vehicle collision south of Ninnekah according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP). The woman was driving eastbound on the outside lane of the H.E. Bailey Turnpike just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. She swerved into the inside lane to avoid hitting a pedestrian on the shoulder of the road. She then struck an unoccupied vehicle that was disabled in the middle of the inside lane, according to OHP.

A woman survived being stranded in her pickup for several days in the Angeles National Forest after she crashed more than 200 feet down a hill during inclement weather and cold conditions. The state patrol said Bouckongou’s car, a Chevrolet Cruze, had broken down on southbound Hwy 77.
