1 killed, truck driver in the hospital after fiery crash on Interstate 70 in Colorado
Both directions of Interstate 70 were closed in the western part of the Denver metro area after a crash involving a tanker truck that ignited a fire and one person was killed. Eastbound lanes reopened just before 4:30 p.m. and westbound lanes remained closed. CDOT issued an update Thursday evening that both directions were back open following the lengthy closure. There were miles of traffic backups in both directions late Thursday morning as a result.

An Oregon man was struck Wednesday afternoon by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 205 in Salmon Creek, according to the Washington State Patrol. Jason Rivera Peinado, 18, of Gresham, Ore., was parked about 3:30 p.m. on the shoulder of I-205 south near 134th Street. He got out of the vehicle and stepped into the lane and was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Martin J. Gorton, 60, of Vancouver, according to a State Patrol crash memo.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened around 6:00 a.m. Friday. For an unknown reason, a big rig stalled in the eastbound lanes. Subsequently, a black pickup truck plowed into the semi-truck’s trailer, wedging itself underneath before catching on fire.

A young father was killed and another motorist was hospitalized with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in the region. The Rensselaer County wreck happened at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, on State Route 67 in Pittstown. New York State Police said a disabled vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lane after several people moved it from the shoulder, when a motorcycle heading eastbound crashed into it. Matthew Disorda, age 28, of Hoosick Falls, was ejected from the bike and died at the scene, police said.

It happened on Route 13 South near School Lane just after 3:30 p.m. Action News obtained surveillance video that appears to show two people helping another person following an initial collision. The two good Samaritans then tried to cross the roadway when they were struck by a silver sedan.

With traffic backed up from a previous crash in the area that had happened moments earlier, MSP officials say a 72-year-old River Rouge woman rear-ended a car that was stopped in traffic.

Three vehicles in all were involved in the crash that brought traffic to a standstill near the Verona exit starting at 5:30 a.m. “One semi struck hit another semi that was parked on the right shoulder of the interstate,” said Major Philip Ridgell with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 11:35 p.m., the 18-year-old was driving a pickup truck on I-95 when it ran off the road onto the right shoulder. The driver then crossed all lanes before crashing into the center guardrail, according to the FHP report.
