Chesapeake Bay Bridge reopens after 40-plus-vehicle crash in dense fog leaves 13 injured on Saturday

MARYLAND – A 40-vehicle collision on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Saturday morning left 13 people suffering from injuries and continues to be under investigation in Maryland. Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) police were alerted about a multi-vehicle crash at 8 a.m. Saturday morning on the westbound span of the Bay Bridge. Police say 23 vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash on the westbound span. Roughly 20 additional vehicles were involved in a series of secondary crashes.

Frisco man killed in two-vehicle crash on I-20 near Baird

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred along I-20 between Baird and Putnam Sunday morning. At 11:10 a.m. on January 28, crews were dispatched to a crash located seven miles east of Baird. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 Freightliner towing a Hyundai was stopped on the shoulder of I-20 westbound. The vehicle was stopped and disabled as the driver attempted to repair the engine. A driver in a 2011 Freightliner towing a Reitnouer trailer failed to maintain a single lane and struck the driver outside of the 2017 Freightliner.

Pedestrian struck by semi on Indiana Toll Road while rescuing dog

A man was seriously injured after he was struck by a semi-tanker while attempting to rescue his dog from the roadway. The Indiana State Police Toll Road Post is currently investigating the crash, which occurred around 6:30 pm near the 147.8 mile marker in the eastbound lanes of the I-80/90 Toll Road in Steuben County. The pedestrian involved has been identified as 22-year-old Jack Holdren, of Williamsburg, Virginia. Holdren sustained multiple serious injuries in the collision but was reported to be alert and conscious when emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene.

2 dead after crash involving tractor-trailer on I-95 in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) – Two people have died after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Fairfield, according to state police. Troopers responded to the crash around 11:59 p.m. Thursday on I-95 North before Exit 22. A preliminary investigation showed a Chevrolet Impala was driving in the center lane when it spun out for an unknown reason, entered the median and struck the concrete jersey barrier. The Impala then became disabled in the center lane.

Okanagan Connector crash near Merritt Tuesday claimed one life: B.C. Highway Patrol

MERRITT, B.C. — RCMP are looking into a fatal collision near Merritt earlier this week. According to a news release from B.C. Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Tuesday (Jan. 23) at about 7:30 p.m. Spokesperson Cpl. Melissa Jongema says a pickup truck collided with a semi-truck on the Okanagan Connector near Hamilton Hill. Investigators believe the semi-truck was eastbound when it slid off the highway and hit the ditch. It was then struck by an eastbound pickup truck.

Dual semi truck accidents cause massive I-215 back-up in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — A bizarre circumstance on Interstate 215 in Salt Lake City caused massive delays in both northbound and southbound lanes Thursday. Cameras showed semi trucks on both sides of the highway having been involved in accidents at the same location. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a semi truck in the southbound lanes was looking at the crash in the northbound lanes when it hit a car in front, pushing the vehicle into another lane.

San Antonio, Texas – An Edgewood ISD School police officer was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday in San Antonio, according to a local news source. The accident happened on January 20, off I-35 near the Frost Bank Center. According to the report, Tina Egleston was working off-duty directing traffic when she took a break and went to a gas station. Two people asked for her a ride back to their vehicle that had run out of gas.

Troopers: Foggy roads trigger 37-vehicle pileup that closed Glenn Highway for hours

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Foggy driving conditions along the Glenn Highway on Thursday morning contributed to a massive pileup that closed the busy roadway for several hours. Alaska State Troopers wrote in a dispatch they were notified around 10:30 a.m. of a collision in the southbound lanes of the Glenn Highway at mile 30 on the Knik River bridge. All told, 37 vehicles were involved in the collision near Reflections Lake near the bridge.

Woman rescued from top of submerged car after 15 hours

A woman stranded in Livermore, California, spent 15 hours on a submerged vehicle before being rescued. A camper near Del Valle Road called the Alameda County Fire Department after finding the woman on top of her overturned car that was submerged in a swift-moving creek. She was rescued with the help of a California Highway Patrol helicopter that was able to lower a technician to grab the woman and pull her up to safety.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:15 a.m., near Interstate 15 on January 13th. According to reports, a 2015 BMW was disabled on the northbound left shoulder. The driver of a 2020 Chevrolet pickup-truck then veered off the road and struck the BMW, pushing both vehicles into the center median.
