Passenger of crash-disabled car killed when struck by semi early Sunday on I-70 in Columbus
A passenger was standing alongside a crash-disabled car on Interstate 70 early Sunday on the city’s East Side when the vehicle was struck minutes later by a semi-truck, killing him, Columbus police said. The black 2013 Dodge Dart was heading west on I-70 at 12:02 a.m. Sunday when the driver hit a concrete barrier at an exit ramp at Interstate 270, police said. The car spun sideways and was left straddling both main lanes of I-70 with no lights on, police said.

MARTINS FERRY — Traffic was backed up on Ohio 7 at Martins Ferry for about an hour Thursday evening due to an accident involving multiple cars, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Reports of one car catching fire were also confirmed. Trooper Tyler Burd said one of the drivers suffered a minor injury. “Another motorist hit a deer, and in the process that kind of stopped traffic for a bit,” he said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Dixie Highway Friday night, according to Louisville Metro Police. Police also say a child is in the hospital with serious injuries resulting from the incident. It happened around 10:30 p.m. when LMPD Third Division officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Dixie near Katherine Station Road. That’s just north of the Jefferson/Hardin County line.

DE BEQUE, Colo. (KKCO) - The Colorado Department of Transportation is reporting that a section of I-70 is closed due to a crash. Emergency crews described the incident as a multiple car pileup with multiple large trucks involved. The total amount of vehicles is unconfirmed at this time. Eighteen vehicles were involved in the crash, and at least one semi was off the road, said emergency crews. The affected stretch of road spans between Exit 72: West Parachute and Exit 62: De Beque.

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – A man was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 476 while checking on an unsecured load in his utility truck Friday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said. The crash closed part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Quakertown exits in Montgomery County, but all lanes reopened shortly before noon. State police said a utility truck pulled over to the right shoulder of I-476 near mile marker 36.

Tulsa Police say a good Samaritan is dead after he was hit by a car while directing traffic after a crash near Pine and Mingo. Investigators say the man was just trying to help out until police arrived, but another driver didn’t see him. Officers say the man did nothing wrong, and it’s human nature to try to help when witnessing something like a car wreck. Police are offering tips for anyone who may be in a similar situation.

Dec. 8—The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) is investigating the cause of a nine vehicle collision that took place near Chickasha on Thursday. OHP reported that parts of the H.E. Bailey Turnpike near the crash at mile marker 76 were shut down for up to six hours as multiple agencies responded to the scene. The eastbound and westbound lanes of the turnpike were closed between US-277 (mile marker 80) in Chickasha and US-277 (mile marker 53) in Elgin due to the crash and a grass fire, according to the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA).

A man is in critical condition after a driver crashed into him Wednesday in Harrisburg, then fled the scene, police said. The man was trying to help with a vehicle that had broken down at Cameron and Paxton streets when he was hit around 8:15 p.m., according to police. Police said the driver who hit the man was traveling through the Cameron and Paxton intersection at the time and left the area without stopping after the crash.

EDINBURGH, Ind. (WISH) — A man died Wednesday night after he was struck while standing outside a disabled vehicle by a semitrailer on I-65 in Shelby County. At 9:12 p.m., 911 dispatch began receiving multiple calls about a serious crash involving a semitrailer and a pick-up truck on I-65 near the Shelby/ Johnson County Line, a release said. First responders arrived and found a man unresponsive on the ground. Medics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

HOCKESSIN, Del. (WPVI) – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash after a wrecked vehicle was discovered near Lancaster Pike in Hockessin Wednesday. Troopers were called to the crash site on Lancaster Pike, near Hercules Road, just after 4 p.m. after a passing motorist noticed a vehicle off the roadway. When troopers arrived, they found a 42-year-old man from Oxford, Pennsylvania, dead at the scene. Lancaster Pike was then closed down for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated.
