I-690 pile-up caused by 7 cars crashing as one tried to avoid disabled car
Syracuse, N.Y. – Seven vehicles crashed on Interstate 690 in Syracuse Sunday night after a driver slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a disabled car, police said. Around 7:41 p.m., a 2022 Toyota was driving east on I-690 when the driver tried to avoid crashing into the disabled vehicle on the side of the highway, Kieran Coffey, a city police spokesperson, said Monday. The crash happened between the Interstate 81 interchange and Exit 14 (Teall Avenue).

FORT LEE — One person was killed and a toddler injured when a car crashed into the back of a disabled tractor-trailer on Route 95 near the George Washington Bridge Sunday night, according to police. New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said the driver in a Toyota Camry was headed north in the express lanes near Exit 72 just after 9 p.m. when he hit the tractor-trailer in the right lane.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A motorcyclist was killed Monday in a crash near Otay Mesa, authorities said. The collision occurred around 4:40 a.m. on Enrico Fermi Drive northbound, located north of Otay Mesa Road, Salvador Castro with the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. A 20-year-old Chula Vista man was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when for unknown reasons the rider struck a yellow box truck that was disabled and parked along the east curb, according to authorities.

NORTH PORT – Florida Highway Patrol announced a tragic fatal accident that took place very early Monday Morning on Interstate 75 The crash took place as a 21-year-old man from Tampa was driving a Toyota Corolla heading southbound on I-75 in the left lane south of River Road. At the same time, a 27-year-old man from North Port was outside of his disabled vehicle (A Kia SUV) on the left shoulder, attempting to change a tire on the disabled SUV.

MIAMI LAKES, FLA. (WSVN) - Florida Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a scene involving a crash that led to a fatal chain reaction near Miami Lakes. The incident took place following a three-vehicle crash on State Road 826 southbound in the area of I-75, around 8:27 p.m., Friday. FHP said one of the driver’s family members, an adult male, stopped their vehicle on the roadway and blocked a travel lane, causing two oncoming vehicles to collide with the stopped vehicle.

GREENFIELD Wis. - A Greenfield crash involving a semi-truck left one person dead on Saturday. Police said the semi struck a disabled car on Layton Avenue just east of Highway 100 and proceeded to hit a utility pole. The lone occupant of the car was found dead inside the vehicle. The driver of the semi, a 59-year-old Texas man, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. He was not injured.

ATLANTA - One person has been confirmed dead, and six others have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash along Interstate 75 on Friday afternoon. It happened around 1:34 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Howell Mill Road. According to the Georgia State Patrol, seven vehicles were involved. The crash occurred in the fourth lane of I-75 South as traffic began diverting around a disabled Pontiac. As vehicles slowed abruptly, two Freightliner commercial trucks struck a Ford Transit van.

CUTLER, Calif. (KFSN) – The man who was struck and killed as he was picking up debris from a crash on a Tulare County highway has been identified. Family members have identified him as 50-year-old Marin Apodaca of Cutler. They say he was trying to help someone who had just been in a car crash moments before. The California Highway Patrol says the crash happened just before 6 a.m. Friday on Highway 63 and Avenue 392, just south of Cutler.

CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) - A pedestrian is dead following a major crash in Central on Thursday evening, Sept. 26. The Central Police Department responded to the crash around 6:08 p.m. at Magnolia Bridge Road and Greenwell Springs Road. According to Chief Roger Corcoran, the pedestrian was changing a tire on the North shoulder headed west when they were struck by another vehicle headed the same direction. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
