Driver hits woman, 5-year-old child after SUV runs out of gas on I-435
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman and a child are hospitalized with critical injuries after they were hit by a car on the side of a metro highway Friday evening. Investigators responded to the crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate-435 and Blue River around 10 p.m. Police said a woman and a 5-year-old child were passengers in an SUV when it ran out of gas on the highway. The SUV stalled in a lane of traffic, but police said the driver put on the hazards.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – One driver was sent to the hospital with minor injuries following a crash on the Escambia Bay Bridge Saturday morning. The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-10 – blocking the roadway for a short period of time. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident involved three vehicles. One of the vehicles was disabled on the shoulder of the road. Troopers say a passing vehicle struck the disabled vehicle and rotated into the roadway.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is searching for a driver suspected of hitting and killing a 59-year-old man with his vehicle in Columbus Wednesday night. The crash happened on Fairwood Avenue, just south of Moler Road at 10:27 p.m. Alfred Wilkins, of Columbus, was driving a 2009 Ford F-150 while hauling a dump trailer south on Fairwood Avenue when the vehicle became disabled on the roadway. OSHP said Wilkins attempted to make repairs to his vehicle when a 2012 Honda Civic heading south on Fairwood Avenue struck Wilkins and the trailer.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Travelers were asked to detour around a portion of East D Avenue after a car crash closed the road Thursday morning. The crash happened between 28th Street and 30th Street near Richland when a driver rear-ended a semi-truck, according to Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office. The semi-truck had stopped on the road and was making a delivery at the time of the crash, deputies said. The driver was cut out of the car and taken to the hospital with serious injuries, deputies said.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 29-year-old San Bernardino woman was driving a 2000 Honda Odyssey traveling on the San Bernardino highway. According to the article published online, the Honda got involved in a property damage crash north of Inland Center Drive.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles on the Dames Point Bridge in Duval County resulted in significant traffic disruptions Tuesday morning. According to FHP, the incident began at around 10:43 a.m. when a disabled vehicle became stranded, blocking the northbound left lane of the bridge. As traffic came to a halt due to the obstruction, a sport utility vehicle (Vehicle #01) driven by a 33-year-old male failed to stop in time and collided with a sedan (Vehicle #02) driven by another male.

A good Samaritan was killed Monday after she was hit by a car when attempting to assist victims of a two-vehicle crash in the West Loop which eventually became a six-vehicle pileup, authorities said. The woman had gotten out of her car to check on the victims of a crash just before 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the West Loop near the Southwest Freeway, Houston Police Sgt. Matthew Sudduth told Metro Video reporters.

Sheriff’s officials say a North Chicago man died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver after he got out of his car, which was stuck in a ditch, near Fox Lake Monday morning. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Spring Grove Fire Protection District responded around 2:08 a.m. Monday to Wilmot Road and Paddock Road in unincorporated Fox Lake for a vehicle crash. First responders found a male subject who was unconscious and not breathing down on the roadway, the sheriff’s office said.

Memphis Police Department (MPD) said officers responded to a crash at Lamar and Davidson on Sunday, May 28 around 11:15 p.m. According to MPD, a vehicle struck a disabled car that was pulled over on the road, and the disabled car then hit the woman who was standing outside of the car.
