Man stopped alongside road killed after being hit by car near Seaford Sunday night
An 88-year-old man who got out of his stopped car on Route 13 near Seaford Sunday night died after being hit by another car, Delaware State Police said. Troopers were called to the south side of the road, just south of Ockles Road, about 9:15 p.m. for reports of the crash. There, they found the man in a grass median. He’d been thrown there after being hit, police said. He died at the scene.

QUEENS, New York (WABC) – Thirteen people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway Saturday morning, police say. Six cars, including one tractor-trailer, were involved in the accident while heading east near Exit 32 around 6 a.m. None of the injuries was serious, police say. The victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment. The eastbound lanes on the LIE were temporarily closed after the crash. The cause of the accident was not immediately made clear.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KVII) — A Clovis man was hit by a semi on I-27 near Lubbock after an earlier crash disabled his car. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jermaine Nord was running from the center median, across I-27, when he was hit around 3 a.m. Nord was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS said Nord had been involved in a crash. His car came to a rest in the center median.

CEDAR CITY — It was a cold night on the mountain when an observant passerby noticed a vehicle had left the road. Due to the vehicle’s condition and temperatures dipping into the lower teens near the Midway Valley on state Route 14, the good Samaritan called 911. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Joshua Johnson said the citizen made the call for emergency services Tuesday at 9:27 p.m. Responders arrived at a location near mile marker 27 in Kane County to find an elderly male in need of medical attention.

RICHFIELD, Ohio (WJW) — Two separate crashes on Interstate 271 involved about 23 cars, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed. As of 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the ramp from Interstate 77 North to I-271 North was closed for a crash, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation. That crash happened near Wheatley Road, and involves 13 vehicles, including three commercial vehicles, according to patrol spokesperson Sgt. Bridget Matt. Injuries were reported, but none were reported to be life-threatening.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — A man was seriously injured Monday evening while performing vehicle maintenance when a second vehicle crashed into the rear of his vehicle, according to a Davenport Police Department news release. Around 4:49 p.m., Davenport Police and Fire, Rock Island Police and Fire and Rock Island Arsenal Ambulance responded to the Centennial Bridge to a report of a personal injury crash. The early investigations revealed that a vehicle had become disabled on the bridge due to mechanical issues while traveling on the Illinois-bound lanes.

VALDOSTA — A Ray City woman died when she was hit by a tractor trailer on Interstate 75 last week. The Georgia State Patrol released a report on the Nov. 20 accident earlier this week. The GSP said a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder was stopped in the center lane of I-75 Southbound just north of Exit 18 at about 1:20 a.m. Nov. 20. A tractor-trailer in the same lane approached the stationary vehicle from behind.

At least one person was killed in a multi-car crash Monday night along southbound Interstate 5, according to the CHP. The crash was reported at around 10:36 p.m. near Palomar Street in Chula Vista. A car stalled and was blocking the middle lanes of the freeway leading to a chain reaction crash, the CHP said. An NBC 7 photojournalist at the scene counted 8 vehicles involved in the wreckage, including one sedan that was unrecognizable after being split in half.

SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A Michigan woman was killed in a tractor-trailer crash in Smyth County on November 21, according to Virginia State Police. Police say the crash occurred at 6:10 p.m. on I-81S. 42-year-old Nichole Smith, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was driving south on I-81 when she drove off the left side of I-81 at mile marker 37, continued into the median, hit a guardrail, and flipped. A portion of the tractor-trailer was in the left southbound travel lane.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — A New Jersey woman is dead after a crash in Monroe County. Troopers say 27-year-old Chantalle Cecconi’s car broke down Sunday night in the northbound lanes of Interstate 380 near Tobyhanna. Another driver saw her car and moved into the left lane but Cecconi abruptly ran in front of that vehicle and was hit. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
