Driver Dies In Joliet After Crashing Into Back Of Semi Trailer
JOLIET, IL — A young man from Indiana lost his life on Friday morning on the southern edge of Joliet after his car rear-ended a semi-trailer that was stopped with its hazard lights flashing along Route 53 in the vicinity of the Chicagoland Speedway and West Sharp Road. GREENSBORO, N.C. — On Valentine’s Day, 911 calls poured in from folks driving along I-73. One caller said, “There’s been a car accident. A guy was just hit on the highway.” Another caller said, “There’s been a bad accident and I think someone’s been killed.” Marcus Nivens, 62, of Winston-Salem, died after pulling off on I-73 to refill his car with gas. Police said a driver rammed into a car behind him, before hitting Nivens.

OAK PARK, Ill. - A driver died after rear-ending a semi on the Eisenhower Expressway Thursday evening in west suburban Oak Park. A 2008 Ford Edge rear-ended a semi that was parked on the shoulder of I-290 around 7:30 p.m. near Oak Park Avenue, according to Illinois State Police. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. They have not yet been identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (FOX 9) - A fatal multi-vehicle crash temporarily closed Interstate 694 on Friday morning, and officials believe alcohol to be involved in the collision. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at 8:45 a.m. a 31-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Equinox westbound on I-694 in the right lane approaching Snelling Avenue. The driver swerved from the right lane to the left shoulder, then over corrected and spun out.

Subsequently, Lupich exited the disabled vehicle and was hit by a northbound motorist.

Three people died and two others were injured in a rear-end collision on Interstate Highway 80 at the Bay Bridge early Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. At approximately 4:14 a.m., CHP officers learned that a Toyota Tacoma struck a Mini Cooper on the highway’s eastbound lanes west of Treasure Island, CHP Public Information Officer Mark Andrews said. Emergency crews found two of the three occupants of the Mini Cooper were killed by the crash.

The car was on fire, police said, and the deputy saw two people inside who appeared to be deceased.

A vehicle was traveling southbound in lane one when it collided with a disabled vehicle on the right shoulder, according to the State Patrol. The first vehicle drifted from lane one to the right shoulder.

The crash happened after 7 p.m. near Groom. According to DPS, a semi broke down at mile marker 122. The driver got out to inspect his tractor trailer and put out traffic cones to warn other drivers. That’s when another eastbound semi rear ended his big rig.
