Man dies after being hit by truck on Highway 101 near Morgan Hill
A 36-year-old Riverside man died Wednesday after he was hit by a box truck while standing on the shoulder of Highway 101 near Morgan Hill, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man was securing something to his vehicle on the side of westbound 101 south of San Martin Avenue, where the collision occurred about 12:30 p.m., CHP Officer Alfredo Uribe said. For unknown reasons, the truck swerved onto the shoulder of the road and hit the man.

A man is dead after he was hit by a motorhome while retrieving a tire on Interstate 90, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says. The incident happened around 2:23 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at milepost 127.2 in Gillette. According to a fatality crash summary, 75-year-old Texas resident James Smith was behind the wheel of an eastbound pickup pulling a travel trailer when the left rear wheel came off the axle. When Smith stopped and got out to retrieve the tire, he reportedly crossed the travel lanes without regard for oncoming traffic and walked into the path of an eastbound motorhome that had merged into the left-hand lane due to his pickup and travel trailer being parked on the right shoulder.

A deadly crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred Monday on the southbound lanes of Interstate 215, just south of State Route 91, and the driver fled the scene, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP Riverside units were dispatched around 1:45 A.M. following reports of a collision involving a Honda sport utility vehicle or truck and a pedestrian. Investigators said the driver of the Honda was traveling southbound on Interstate 215 when the vehicle drifted onto the right shoulder.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The pedestrian who was involved in the vehicle crash on Aug. 2 has died as a result of his injuries, and police said he was hit while helping another motorist move a disabled car. At about 10:26 p.m., 44-year-old Harry Roman of Clarksville was assisting a motorist that had broken down on the 101st Airborne Division Parkway near Ringgold Road when he was hit from behind, according to a news release from Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.

A woman and two children are dead after their car collided with a stopped tractor trailer in a construction zone. The accident happened between Pratt and Haviland, Kansas at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8th on US Highway 54. According to The Wichita Eagle, a tractor trailer was stopped in a construction zone waiting for a flagger to let him pass when a woman in a Nissan rear-ended the rig. The force of the impact killed the woman and her two children inside of the Nissan SUV.

A woman who got out of her vehicle was struck and killed on the 101 Freeway, prompting lane closures through the Echo Park area of Los Angeles Tuesday morning. California Highway Patrol units responded to the incident around 3:45 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near Alvarado Street. The victim apparently had some sort of car trouble and stopped on the freeway to check the problem, CHP Sgt. Jensen said.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating a chain-reaction crash that injured a driver outside his vehicle. On Monday, the crash at 3:45 a.m. happened on I-44, about eight miles west of Springfield. Investigators say Michael Harris was driving westbound on I-44 when he hit a construction barrier. His vehicle came to a stop, blocking both lanes. Another vehicle hit Harris when he got out of the vehicle.

A 46-year-old man who stopped with car trouble on the side of the H-1 freeway died Monday after another car rear-ended his vehicle, pushing it forward and striking him as he was investigating the problem. Honolulu police said the fatal collision occurred on the shoulder of the H-1 freeway eastbound near the Kaimakani Street overpass in the Aiea area. According to police, the 46-year-old male had gotten out of his vehicle and was attempting to address the mechanical issue when a 56-year-old female motorist traveling eastbound on the H-1 freeway drifted into the eastbound shoulder and into the stalled car.
