84-year-old man struck, killed while changing tire on York County highway
YORK COUNTY, S.C. — An 84-year-old man was hit and killed while changing a tire on his car in York County, investigators said. It happened around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 161 near Paraham Road. According to the coroner’s office, 84-year-old Leonard Davis, of Catawba, was changing a tire on his car in the center lane of the highway. Highway patrol said a 2018 Toyota driving east on Highway 161 hit Davis, who died at the scene.

Friday morning, multiple Shelby County emergency personnel responded to an injury accident on westbound Interstate 64, just before the Waddy/Peytona exit. At approximately 11:04 a.m., a driver veered into the right shoulder of the highway and directly hit the bed of an abandoned truck. Three passersby stopped to provide assistance to the injured driver until emergency personnel arrived. Nine emergency vehicles from five different agencies responded to the crash scene, including Shelbyville Fire Department, Waddy Volunteer Fire Department, Shelby County EMS, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and the Kentucky State Police.

LAKEWOOD — A 54-year-old motorist was killed Sunday in a seven-vehicle crash on the 605 Freeway in Lakewood. The person who died was identified as Kelly Drake, of Westminster, according to the Medical Examiner’s office. The crash was reported at 8:14 p.m. on the southbound San Gabriel River Freeway at Carson Street, California Highway Patrol Officer Stephen Brandt told City News Service. A news videographer at the scene said the crash was triggered by an earlier two-vehicle crash at the Carson Street off-ramp after several vehicles were unable to stop to avoid the wreckage.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – An investigation is underway after a woman was hit and killed while changing her tire on the Katy Freeway Sunday morning, according to police. The victim’s family identified her as 57-year-old Aminah Gardner. They told Eyewitness News she was a rideshare driver for Uber and Lyft. She had just dropped off a rider before her tire went flat. Police in Fort Myers, Florida, are trying to piece together the cause of a single-car accident that took the lives of five teenagers Sunday. Fort Myers Police identified the victims as Eric Paul, 19; Jackson Eyre, 18; Amanda Ferguson, 18; Breanna Coleman, 18; and Jesus Salinas, 18. Police did not release the cities where the teens lived, according to the News-Press. The teens were killed Sunday when the car they were riding in went off the road and into a retention pond.

NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – A crash involving seven vehicles left one person dead in Norristown, Montgomery County. It happened as the rain was coming down on the 400 block of West Main Street just after 10:30 p.m. Monday. The Action Cam on the scene showed multiple vehicles with heavy front-end damage. Multiple people were also taken to nearby hospitals with injuries. It is not known how the weather may have played a role in the wreck.

LUBBOCK, Texas — One person lost his life in a crash Monday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Carlos Rodriguez, 69-years-old, of Big Spring, was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center and was pronounced dead by medical staff. According to DPS, Rodriquez’s car was “disabled” in the eastbound outside lane of Interstate 20 near the mile marker 188. The car was disabled because it struck the center media cable in a prior crash, said DPS.

At least one person died and several others were injured after a crash involving 10 cars on the I-10 Freeway in Upland Sunday night, authorities said. According to officials with the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the crash spanned both directions of the 10 Freeway, just west of Euclid Avenue. Authorities said initial calls about the crash on the westbound side of the freeway came in at around 8:09 p.m., with a 911 call coming shortly thereafter about additional vehicles involved in the crash on the eastbound side.

Idaho State Police say the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on I-86 near milepost 60 in Bannock County. A 50-year-old Nampa man was reportedly driving westbound in a Freightliner semi-truck. Officials say the 52-year-old Wyoming man was “stationary in the right lane of travel” when he was struck by the semi-truck.

The Tesla was traveling in the middle lane when it struck the rear end of a Freightliner semi-truck that was parked in the same lane and providing traffic control for a right lane closure, the Pennsylvania State Police said on Monday.
