UPDATE: Pedestrian killed on K-18, another hospitalized
Authorities say one person died and another was injured Thursday morning after both were struck by a vehicle on K-18. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was checking his vehicle on the left inside shoulder from a non-injury accident just moments before. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. A second pedestrian was checking her vehicle on the left inside shoulder, after having also struck a deer just prior. While they were outside their vehicles, a Ford Explorer struck the remains of the dead deer, lost control and struck both pedestrians.

DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - One person has died after a car rear-ended a tractor-trailer Wednesday evening on I-95 in Dillon County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Around 5:30 p.m. a 2012 Dodge Charger was driving northbound near mile marker 186 when the driver rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was stopped in the right northbound lane. SCHP said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured but the driver of the Charger was pronounced dead on the scene.

Newton County, IN – A crash on U.S. 41 in Newton County Friday afternoon left an Ohio man injured and northbound traffic at a standstill. According to Newton County Sheriff’s reports, a pickup truck barreled into a disabled vehicle on the roadside around 4 pm on U.S. 41 near County Road 500 N as a 64-year-old Ohio driver plowed into the disabled car. The disabled vehicle, driven by a 24-year-old Lafayette woman, was perched on the shoulder but protruded partially into the left lane at the time of the crash.

GROVE, Okla. – A hit-and-run crash near Grove on Monday evening left two Noel, Missouri women hospitalized, one in critical condition, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. The collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. on OK-25 about two miles east of Grove. Angela McManus, 47, was flown by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Joplin where she was admitted in critical condition with injuries all over her body, the patrol said. McManus and Chandra Gandert, 28, of Decatur, Ark.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that east bound I96 traffic had stopped due to a multiple vehicle crash on I96 near Spencer Road.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 39-year-old Deltona man driving through Volusia County late Saturday died after crashing into an SUV that was stopped in the outside northbound lane of North Spring Garden Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at 11:05 p.m., though a crossroads was not given in FHP’s report. Before the wreck, the driver of an SUV that was traveling northbound on North Spring Garden Avenue stopped the vehicle in the outside lane to check on the occupants of another car that had been parked on the outside shoulder, troopers said.

STALLION SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) - A motorist whose truck tumbled about 100 feet (30 meters) down a Southern California bluff was rescued after being trapped at the bottom of a ravine for nearly five days, authorities said. Rescue crews responded Saturday after receiving a report of a badly damaged pickup at the base of a steep hill southeast of Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Fire Department. A firefighter who was lowered down with a rope determined that the motorist was injured and had been trapped inside the truck since crashing last Tuesday near Stallion Springs, according to the department’s incident report.

TEMPE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – A late-night freeway crash ended with one person dead and another hurt in Tempe on Saturday night. The crash happened on the Loop 202 Red Mountain near Scottsdale Road around 9:30 p.m. According to Department of Public Safety troopers, a car was stopped on the freeway because of a previous collision. However, another driver then rear-ended the vehicle sitting in the road. Two people were taken to the hospital, where one later died.

SHERMAN COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - DPS officials say a man is dead after being hit by an SUV trying to avoid a crash Thursday morning near Cactus. Officials say around 4:30 a.m., a 2018 Ford Escape was driving east and exiting a curve on Farm-to-Market Road 297. The Ford was unknowingly approaching a two-vehicle crash in the roadway that happened moments earlier. Due to it being dark, officials say the driver did not see the disabled vehicles on the road in time to stop.

A Florida couple reported missing Aug. 29 apparently died in a car crash that went undiscovered for nearly two days, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. The bodies of Albert Allen, 76, and Cynthia Allen, 73, were found Thursday, Aug. 31, in a minivan along Powell Road near Brooksville, officials said in a news release. Brooksville is about 50 miles north of Tampa. Photos show the heavily damaged van was found in a densely wooded area, and could not be easily seen from the road.
