N. Charleston man killed after crash with parked tractor-trailer identified
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified a 37-year-old man killed after hitting a tractor-trailer Sunday morning. Lavon Frost, from North Charleston, died on the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. It happened at 2:15 a.m. on I-26 around the 204-mile marker. A 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer was parked on the shoulder of the eastbound side of the interstate. A 2006 Suzuki SUV, also heading east, ran off the right side of the road and hit the tractor-trailer, according to LCpl.

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorist who stopped on Interstate 76 to remove a table from the road and was struck by another vehicle. It happened just after 9:30 a.m. on Interstate 76 near U.S. 224. Police said the motorist, a 58-year-old woman, stopped her Kia Sorento in the travel lane and got out to move the table. That’s when a 23-year-old man driving a blue Honda Civic struck the woman.

OXFORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — A woman was killed in an Ohio Turnpike crash that injured four others Friday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. near Oxford Township in Erie County. A 30-year-old man was driving a Jeep Cherokee when he swerved off the road, striking a guardrail and ended up in the center lane. Also riding in the Jeep was a 26-year-old woman and three children all 4 years old and younger.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - At around midnight on Friday night Tyler Police were called to a reported pedestrian crash that left one man hospitalized. According to authorities, the victim was at the side of the road changing a flat tire when the suspect reportedly side-swiped him with his vehicle near Loop 323 and 34th. The victim was found by a pedestrian passing by. Authorities were able to locate a vehicle that contain damages consisting with that of the victims vehicle and the crash description near Loop 323 and North Broadway, about a mile apart from the initial crash location.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (WLS) – Illinois State Police are investigating a hit-and-run that killed one person late Thursday night. A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian on northbound Interstate 294 in the north suburbs, ISP said. The woman was hit near Sanders Road in the Northbrook area just before 11:30 p.m., police said. ISP said she came out of a car parked on the shoulder of the expressway before she was hit.

COOK COUNTY. - A driver was struck and killed after their car broke down on I-294 Friday morning in the northwest suburbs. The motorist, whose age was unknown, pulled over into the right northbound lane of the Tri-State Tollway and was hit by a vehicle around 11:26 p.m. near Sanders Road, according to police. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who struck the victim did not remain at the scene.

ANTHEM, AZ — At least nine people were hurt after a massive pileup on I-17 in Anthem on Sunday. Reports from authorities involved in the emergency response differ on how many cars were involved, but they range between 15 and 20 cars involved in multiple crashes just north of Daisy Mountain Drive. The extent of the injuries at this point is not known. I-17 southbound was shut down at Daisy Mountain Drive during the incident.

More than a dozen vehicles were involved in a crash that shut down a highway in New York’s Orange County Monday morning and injured eight people, authorities say. Black ice was to blame for the 6:15 a.m. crash on Route 9W, near Fort Montgomery. Police later said a total of 18 vehicles were involved. Chopper 4 was over the scene. Multiple emergency crews were evident at the scene. One vehicle appeared wedged atop another.

TOPSHAM, Maine — Two women with intellectual disabilities who had been missing for nearly a week were found in a stranded car in frigid temperatures after their car ran out of gas and got stuck. The Topsham Police Department announced that Kimberly Pushard and Angela Bussell were found Sunday near Nicatous Lake in East Hancock. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife was credited with finding the pair. The two women had been lost for days since trying to drive to the Maine Mall, WGME reported.

LIVINGSTON - A woman was killed Friday night after a car rear-ended her vehicle that was parked in the middle of I-12. According to State Police, the crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. Friday on I-12 East near LA 63 in Livingston Parish. It claimed the life of 69-year-old Maria Alonso. Troopers say Alonso was driving eastbound on the interstate when, for reasons still under investigation, she parked her car in the left lane and got into the front passenger seat.
